I was disapointed that after all the build up, we didn't get to see any of the fighting...it was all tension, tension, tension...next scene, "Oh, yeah we just won, thought you should know." The ending though was an incredible moment, very visceral and upsetting. Even though the show is just following the books, I'm surprised they had the balls to kill off the top two billing actors in the first season, and it's not looking good for Drogo either.

I'm just worried the last episode won't give enough conclusion for the season, and it will just end like all the other episodes with all the storylines ongoing, leaving us hanging for a whole year.

I'd imagine it will be cliffhangers galore. It looks as if the series will end with war. The child actors in this are so good. The guy who plays Joffrey really does play him so well.

It was a bold move killing Sean Bean off, but he is a movie star and it's probably where a large percentage of the budget went! I've noticed over the past 2/3 episodes they've been showing less and less of him. The show can definitely progress without him anyway. I'd expect HBO would want at least a semi-well known actor cast in the second season though.

Ahhhhh the ending gave me chills, it was fantastic! The whole episode was bar that dodgy scene with the old guy and the whore. There was no need for me to worry it turned out because every storyline had some sort of send off that ramped the stakes up and every character seems to have an exciting storyline coming up (Sansa really impressed me this episode). I was slightly disapointed with the lack of Cersi though, and the year wait is going to kill me; thankfully shooting for Season 2 begins in the next week or so, so hopefully we might get it earlier than Spring 2012.

Season Two Teaser #1

Those dragon screams give me chills! And sadly, it doesn't return until Spring 2012, even though they are already filming in Belfast. I'm going to start reading the books to tide me over.

Also, here's an interesting interview with excutive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about the seaon finale and the challenges they face shooting the new season.

Bear in mind that the show is based on a series of books, so I guess if Ned Stark dies in the book, he dies in the show.... ;) I really need to start reading these books....

The finale was excellent, and the next series looks like it's going to be a very tasty one indeed.... I can see Daenerys being seriously pivotal in season 2, and am anticipating a pretty serious horror element as the Black Watch marches beyond The Wall... This is by far my favourite show of the year, and it merits its 9.5/10 rating on IMDb, as it's a show of serious quality in terms of its production, writing, acting and direction... But then, you expect high standards from a network like HBO, who consistently produce excellent quality programming....

I can see Daenerys becoming just as insane as her father personally. I'm buying the first book on saturday, my exams are finished, so I will have the time to get stuck into them. Thankfully we didn't jump on board at the beginning; the book fans have been waiting as long as a decade between installments, and I thought Stephen King was bad

But the show is an adaptation for television. Who is to say the writers might have changed Ned's death, and had him live? I'm glad they didn't, as it does seem like his death is the reasoning behind the war. The finale was excellent. Probably the best show I have watched all year (The Walking Dead comes extremely close). I am a fan of how UN-Hollywood the show is. The writer behind the books seems have a clear mind set behind the characters that if they do not play the game of thrones they die. I can't see Robb Stark lasting much longer if he doesn't kill Jamie (as you can bet if the tables were turned the Lannisters would have killed Robb!). And I full expect Littlefinger to be King at some point as Joffery cannot play the game at all.

Hopefully the show won't delve too much in to a fantasy show. I know there are elements of it already, but it doesn't stray too far beyond the reams of reality that they live in. For example, I don't think the people in Kings Landing even believe in the White Walkers or dragons. I guess Daenerys is the true dragon Princess, and rightful heir to the throne. I wonder how long it will take for those dragons of hers to grow... one things for sure - a lot of people are going to want her dead now.

*Big Spoiler*

I have been spoiled by youtube comments and Robb is supposed to die, I looked away before I read anymore, so I'm not sure how far into the book series that he bites the dust.

To be honest, this show is already pretty fantastical as it is, I don't think we will get much more outside of the already estabished mythology.

I agree that they should have killed Jamie by now; they only needed him alive to bargain for Ned's release, but he's been executed now anyway; plus, Robb and Catelyn are determined to go to war against the Lannisters and don't want to reach any sort of peace settlement, so I can't see the point of keeping him alive?

Also, Daenerys's dragons look pretty dangerous already, and they are only babies. I can't see them waiting long before attempting to cross over.

I think that's the problem with House Stark - they want to do what is right, which is probably looks like being their downfall. I guess we'll see in a year though! I'm already anticipating it though. They've got to cast a semi-well-known character though for one of the new characters.

Oh and if Peter Dinklage does not win a Best Supporting Actor at the Emmys then there should be outrage. Whilst the show is mainly made up of British talented actors, Dinklage really is superb..

Oh, I think Dinklage is a shoo in for an Emmy, there's already a huge buzz surrounding him; it just seems pretty inevitable even at this stage.

I'm reading the first book now, and I'm finding the prose to be a bit clunky to be honest; it seems to be falling into the cliché fantasy writing trappings already. I will battle on though.

I'm about halfway through this now and just watched the end of episode 6. OH MY GOD I did not expect that to happen. I sort of expected his demise would come in the final episode really, but I didn't think it would be that early or that BRUTAL.

Yeah it was quite a surprise wasn't it. Don't think anyone saw it coming.

And you're right with brutal...there are some way out there scenes in the show B)

HBO really did make their two biggest fanbases happy with this and the True Blood teaser last night. I think I let out a little involuntary squee when I watched it, it looks like it's going to deliver what the end of Season 1 promised and MORE. Can't wait.

Joffrey really is a (fabulous) little c**t isn't he? Poor Sansa.

God, it looks amazing. Even though I've read the books, I can't wait to see it realised on TV.

The scene with Sansa looks like they've not shied away from how nasty it is in the book and the burning of the seven looks suitably epic... The Stannis storyline is such a great new element to the narrative.
