I think it’s safe to say that Eesti Laul is quickly becoming one of the best National Finals in Europe. This year, there were two semi finals, and a total of 19 songs (should’ve been 20, but one was disqualified).

The Final on Feb 26th will have 10 songs:

Jana Kask - Don’t Want Anything

Jaan Pehk - Valss

Ithaka Maria - Hopa’pa-rei!

Some of the songs that didn't make were really good too. Overall, pretty strong selection! ^_^

Two brilliant songs which were eliminated:

Sõpruse Puiestee & Merili Varik - Rahu, ainult rahu

OK, it wouldn't have done much in ESC but nevertheless a great song.

MID - Smile

A bit similar to their 2010 entry, but with a bit more oomph.

Good gosh, why can't we go down this route for ESC!!!!

That Shirubi Ikazuchi song is amazing :o

EDIT: And after listening, so is that final! 7 out of 10 of those tracks would easily walk into my top five of the year's contest so far!

Wow, need to check out that Shirubi song. But my favourite here is Getter Jaani - AMAZEBALLS pop  MID and that leaf blowing one are very good too
Great, one of the two I don't like (the other is Nourkuu). Then again I don't actually like Shirubi much now I've listened to it.

Jana Kask looks like a Jordan tribute act on the picture on the youtube vid. The song is ok, a bit screechy. I Wanna Meet Bob Dylan, Smile (Hurts Juniors?) and The Storm all sound very respectable and decent but I fear they would go the same way as Siren at ESC (which I thought was great even if nobody else did!), clearly electro indie doesn't work there. Valss I guess is the token ethnic folk type entry, it's ok but they've had far better in the past from this genre. Hopa'Pa-rei

I heard Rockefeller Street ages ago and still like it, very catchy. Hopa'Pa-rei! is excellent - like every ethno ESC singer blended into one with a mix of Shakira too, perfect!

All in all, a strong NF, with a couple of clear standouts. I'll look forward to seeing what they choose though, they could find themselves high up my rankings this year. I found the following odds;

"Hoppa-Pa-Rei!" - Ithaka Maria - 2/1

"Rockefeller Street" - Getter Jaani - 4/1

"I Wanna Meet Bob Dylan" - Outloudz - 7/1

"Baby Had You" - Victoria - 8/1

"Don't Want Anything" - Jana Kask - 8/1

"Valss" - Jaan Pehk - 18/1

"All &Amp; Now" - Rolf Roosalu - 40/1

"Smile" - Mid - 65/1

"Be My Saturday Night" - Noorkuu - 85/1

"The Storm" - Mimicry - 750/1

Any reason for the ridiculously long odds for The Storm? It's not that bad is it?

Ithaka Maria is amazing :D and very attractive :)
Estonia - saviour of Eurovision 2011. Didn't expect that to happen :o This is great

I feel the same way about Austria this year. I mean I've never so much as liked one of their entries before

Wonderful! The countries that really haven't been impressing for the last few years really are pulling out the stops for Dusseldorf :o
Really modern and catchy - definitely one of the best! :D

I am now addicted to this - it's fantastic! I think this is now my favorite pushing Lena down to 2nd! And tbh I think this song would fit right into our charts and be a big hit if it was properly released here in Uk :D

So far: Tallinn 2012 or Dusseldorf 2012, unless Blue come up with something special :P

You've got to be kidding. Neither Getter nor Lena stand a chance of victory.

Do you think we've heard the winner yet? I haven't got a clue who could win, seems fairly open, which I guess is a good thing.
