November 25, 201113 yr I think with the way reports suggest progress live may well top those brilliant sales of 181,979 . The dvd has also gone staright to number 1 here in Ireland this week.
November 30, 201113 yr Has anyone managed to get DVD sales last week for progress or where can we find them? Did anyone even hear rumours of what sales were?
November 30, 201113 yr No i wish i did know though as i would love to know what the opening sales total were for the week.
November 30, 201113 yr I got the album this morning and I have to say I don't think it's as good as The Circus Live. As a show it's nowhere near as fun to listen to than it is to see and I don't think the sound mix is as good as The Circus Live either, although maybe that's just me....
November 30, 201113 yr I have bought the album but wont be listening to it, im holding it back as a christmas treat, i enjoy reading the reviews though as it sappears mixed so i wont have too high of hopes!
December 1, 201113 yr Great will power, I had mine playing in the car stereo as soon as I purchased it from the shop. It is a good album but one for hardcore fans really, additionally, I dont think this release is as strong as their last live release. I prefer studio albums to live albums so in the context of what it is it is a good album.
December 2, 201113 yr I personally don't think the Live Album's anywhere near as good Circus Live. The TT4 stuff is as good as ever - they're harmonies sound good etc. I like Let me Entertain you, but when I listen to Robbie's solo stuff I can feel myself wincing as his voice actually sounds "rough and sore". The TT5 stuff is pretty good, well most of it but again I don't like Underground Machine. My friend was listening to it in the car and said Robbie's voice sounded ropy and like he was shouting. But then, as she said, he can get away with it because he's entertaining. But on a live record the entertainment bit doesn't cover up his vocals. That's my view anyway. Sorry to post this twice. I tried to delete it on the other thread but it wouldn't let me.
December 2, 201113 yr Has anyone managed to get DVD sales last week for progress or where can we find them? Did anyone even hear rumours of what sales were? It won't let me paste a link as I have under 20 posts. But if you google the Official Music video charts. They are number 5 for actual DVD's overall but Number 1 for music DVD'S
December 2, 201113 yr It won't let me paste a link as I have under 20 posts. But if you google the Official Music video charts. They are number 5 for actual DVD's overall but Number 1 for music DVD'S It'll be interesting to see how its sales hold up against The Circus DVD. Taking all things into consideration - it should do better than The Circus but somehow I just can't see it happening. The Circus was number 1 on the music dvd chart for the first 11 weeks and then didn't leave the top 10 for a further 20 weeks or so and until very recently it had remained inside the top 40. Both have had similar release dates / times of the year. Kath
December 2, 201113 yr Author It will do better as it is being released internationally. The dvd debuted at number 2 in italy and number 1 in germany this week
December 2, 201113 yr Thanks for those dvd up dates, good to see it doing well in other countries, also went number 1 here in Ireland.
December 5, 201113 yr Author Progress Live second week sales are 72,715. Still cannot find how much they sold last week tho :/ but selling over 70k again is very impressive. Between the album and the DVD they have sold another 100k worth of material this week. Fantastic
December 5, 201113 yr Progress Live second week sales are 72,715. Still cannot find how much they sold last week tho :/ but selling over 70k again is very impressive. Between the album and the DVD they have sold another 100k worth of material this week. Fantastic The DVD opened on 127,359 last week according to Music Week. The CD opened on 42,590, only about a third of what The Circus live did. But I agree with the comments, that release was a far more interesting package, better cover art and presentation, an acoustic disc as an extra and just seemed like a really worthwhile purchase. I agree with the comments about Progress Live, the DVD is amazing to watch but listening to it, especially Robbie's sections, it just feels more like I've ripped the audio from the DVD onto my iPod and might as well have not bought the album, he's an amazing entertainer and great to watch visually live but I have no desire to listen to him shouting on a CD.
December 5, 201113 yr Great sales information, DVD has done very well, im still shocked over the album going as low as number 12.
December 5, 201113 yr The DVD opened on 127,359 last week according to Music Week. Good sales but if the truth be known - I'm really glad that the sales of the Progress DVD didn't surpass those of The Circus. Kath
December 6, 201113 yr Author Good sales but if the truth be known - I'm really glad that the sales of the Progress DVD didn't surpass those of The Circus. Kath I agree Kath, I do still think Circus was better but only because it felt more connected and flowing rather than the stop start stop start nature of Progress until they come on as a back as a 5. It has also charted in Denmark now at number 3. I do expect it to shift a fair amount internationally, but 200k after 2 weeks in the UK with 3 weeks till Christmas is very impressive. It's amazing that Take That have sold over 250k worth of material in 2 weeks in the UK alone.. :cheer: I am very interested to see where Take That go next now, its clear that officially TT are still a 5 (no official announcement from the management) but the next album/tour will be as a 4. I just hope the sales are as strong as this era, but i would like their singles to do better and hopefully now they dont have to accomodate Rob living in LA, we will see a much more efficient promotion machine with all the scheduling working in sync with release dates. Interesting times ahead. Im sure Gary has already been in contact with the rest of the boys about working on material so hopefully now that he has twitter we will know alot more about whats going on!
December 6, 201113 yr I havnt seen progress live YET so i cant comment. I agree the sales are very strong and it could potentially sell aswell as the circus but even if it doesnt its still selling brilliantly, in a way i suppose i dont want it to outsell the circus either as so far that is my favourite take that era.
