I'm so glad that you (and Iris) seem to prefer the Beautiful World Tour over even The Circus - because I think I do too. It was clever - and the Relight My Fire on the BW tour was the best its ever been - in no small part due to the fabulous Lloyd Webb (?) doing the Lulu bit - mixing it with Gnarls Barkley's Crazy (I did think the vocals of Loleatta Holloway on The Circus let the song down - even though I appreciate them bringing the original singer back for it - her vocals just were NOT up to it.) I think Never Forget on BW was excellent too - oh hell - the whole thing was better.

Mind you - there is one thing on the Ultimate Tour which trumps anything on BW, TC or Progress - and that is the fabulous tangoed rendition of It Only Takes A Minute. I think it was hearing and seeing this that made me a Take That fan.

Everytime I go to a gig, Take That or not, it gets compared to Beautiful World and NOTHING has lived up to it yet (although I had Michael Jackson tickets and I think that one would've trumped it by miles :() The opening was incredible, so beautiful and powerful and exciting, I actually felt sick with anticipation! It Only Takes A Minute with the pole dancers.....need I say more? Rule The World when they went over the crowd and onto the b-stage (and we were sitting directly under the walkway). Could It Be Magic was breath taking. The walking back through the crowd when I got to shake Gary and Jason's hands, Give Good Feeling, Wooden Boat, that amazing performance of Never Forget with the curtain and the historical figures......basically just everything about that tour was perfect.

Well maybe not everything....I ended up on the dvd

I really liked beautiful world but i dont know what it is about the whole circus era, album, tour, dvd etc was just magical for me and i loved it all and i think it will always be hard to beat for me both tour and album wise.

I love The Cirrcus album, but i was not impressed by the Tour. The album had a marvellous retro feeling and the tour didnt do it justice It was to colourfull, to imature, to much done to please everybody, too much clowning around. After the magical "Could it be magic" and "Never forget" from BW Tour, i felt nothing similar in The Circus.

Katyp is right, the tango was pure magic at Ultimate Tour.

The magic moment at the Circus were the opening music with the cloud clowns: the building up and What is love when they put the clown mask .

Agree the magic moment was the opening and the balloons ... however ... Hold Up A Light was just terrific ... and what made me really like the song. It never fails to impress and on the Progress Intro - with the TT4 - HUAL was the stand out song - actually one of the stand-out performances of the night.

The only disapointment about the circus tour i thought was up all night, i love the song but i didnt enjoy it as much on the tour.

For me that whole set where they played their own instruments was the weakest (and I did say this in my review of the concert). It didn't convince - I'm sorry but they're just not competent enough players of instruments to get away with it and I couldn't see the point in highlighting a weakness which detracted from an otherwise fabulous show.

Kath

Ya that was the weakest part overall, but enjoyable in parts,ya they have some work to do yet to look confident when playing the instruments, id say that is something they want to also do thesmelves, but i agree with you kathy, highlighting their weakness was a gamble.
Went to see them at Wembley last night and it was FABULOUS  My first TT live gig. As as much of a Robbie fan as the rest of the band (possibly more) I was pleased that he got a decent amount of time to do his thing, without spoiling the TT5 bits. The choice of old songs was inspired, especially the encore :D My only disappointment was the robot didn't stand up :(
THE robot seems be causing a few problems for them, i dont think its the first time that has happened either.

It apparently had a few mis-haps on some of the Manchester gigs (although not the one that I went to). I'm sure this is why, although they had every intention of recording the DVD via two of the Manchester gigs but due to OM's recalcitrent behaviour and Gary having 'man-flu' they've had to record two of the London gigs instead.

why would they record it in manchester when they are breaking the record of nights at wembley?? i dont care what anyone says wembley is the pinnacle and although they are all from around manchester (generalising) and playing at eastlands is an achievement, wembley is in a completely different league. that's why it is being filmed at wembley.

I do wonder whether they will film in europe as well or just box europe the wembley dvd

ANYWAYS IM GOING TO SEE THEM TOMORROW! CAN'T WAIT!

I would so love to be going seeing them tomorrow night, im sure you are gona have a bloddy fantastic night.

yeahh i can't wait! i'll pop on after and write up a verdict...just hope the robot stands up and works properly

ya, i look forward to reading your review, and il keep my fingers crossed for the robot been in full working action aswell!

They'd intended Manchester because it is their 'home' territory (well for two of them anyway - I have more right to call myself a Mancunian than Gary, Mark or Robbie) ... however it is the city that was 'traded' on as their home city. But ... as you know ... things went wrong on the two nights. I think one of the main reasons they may have had to re-think though will be the weather. They HAVE to film two nights to 'fill in the gaps' as necessary. I'm pretty sure that with one day's recording in Manchester being sunny and the other - at least drizzly - then any hopes of continuity with these 'gap fills' would be a bit out of the window!

I agree - Wembley is the place where most concerts are dvd'd from - but I'm sure if all had gone well - they'd rather have had Manchester. BTW - they will film bits of the European tour to fill in with some sort of commentary (they did on the Beautiful World DVD) ... just not a whole concert.

Last night was amazing.

It was absolutely spot on in every way. The only down side was perhaps the opening which was not a patch on the circus opening but apart from that i thought it was great.

loved rob's solo set, he was on great form and owned the stage and the arrangement of the flood, kidz and love love were breathtaking but my favourite bit was the piano medley which was brilliantly placed and performed, faultless vocals.

overall, i would agree with Kath that Circus Live was better but only marginally in my opinion. Progress Live was amazing and i am definately buying it on blu ray as soon as it comes out, absolutely spectacular night!

Glad you enjoyed it - I did too - and was surprised that I really liked Rob's set (although I don't think I could stand a whole two hour solo concert of his). My favourite bit was still Pray - and watching Rob join in with the silly dance!

I MUST upload my pictures here soon.

I am delighted but not surprised you had a great night, i think in general the opening is what people are finding the waekest but overall everyone is loving the show and im glad you did, like you i shall be buying the dvd asap on release.

we must of got lucky with the robot on Tuesday, not wishing to tempt fate though as we are going again tomorrow,

I'm loving the tour so far, I'll decide at the end where i think it lays , but for me, the arena dates on the Ultimate Tour will always taking some beating.

It was like going into the unknown, we were all holding our breath, is this gonna flop. within seconds of the start, the magic was still there, :yahoo:
