Posted February 21, 201114 yr The Austrian national final will be held at Friday 25th of February. 30 songs were available to vote on, but only 10 could make the final cut. Thousands of people chose their favourite song and voted for it on ORF's homepage, but their votes counted only for 50% of the vote, the other 50% came from a specially formed jury. This jury had already voted before the internet vote started, but its results were kept secret. The 10 finalists are the following: Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner - Paris, Paris Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love Richard Klein - Bigger, Better Best Track$h!ttaz/Lukas Plöchl - Oida Taunz! Leo Aberer & Patricia Kaiser - There Will Never Be Another You Alkbottle - Wir san do ned zum Spaß Eva K. Anderson - I Will Be Here Band WG - 10 Sekunden Glück Oliver Wimmer - Let Love Kick In Charlee - Good To Be Bad You can listen to the finalists here
February 23, 201114 yr Not a bad final for Austria, there's some real crap, half of them basically. The Oliver Wimmer song could be good but sounds too 'faux-funky' like a Stefan Raab production. There Will Never Be Another You is ok too. The standout three for me though Charlee (Kelly Clarkson gone electro), Eva K. Anderson (pleasant string laden ballad) and Nadine Beiler - blimey at the latter, I haven't heard a ballad build up like that for a long time, it's like The Voice Within with an added massive gosepl choir. Literally incredible.
February 23, 201114 yr Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love This will go straight to #1 in my rankings if it wins, I've fallen damn hard for it. Will probably come last in the semi then!
February 24, 201114 yr I tried to download Nadine Bieber's song based on Rich's rave reviews, only to find that I'd already downloaded it a few weeks back. Clearly it didn't make that much of an impression on me. It's fairly good, although vocally it won't sound nearly as good live. And I DESPISE that final chord. So much that it actually knocks it from an 8/10 to a 6/10 for me.
February 24, 201114 yr Well I love it, I downloaded it from iTunes in fact just to get it in HQ! It definitely hit me instantly, maybe because it reminded me somewhat of a shorter, poppier The Voice Within. She's no relation to Justin Bieber though  I don't have any problem with the final chord, what's so bad about it? :o

It's the number one no-no in pop music as far as I'm concerned. This song is actually mostly in a major key, but for some reason the final chord has the same effect. It's just cheese OVERLOAD. If I Don't Wanna Leave couldn't quality, neither could this.

Fair enough, I can't say it's something that bothers me. I think it's far better than that song, but I was never talking about its qualification chances - just the fact that I love the song. If they want to guarantee a spot in the final, then Eva K. Anderson's song is probably their best bet. Charlee's is good but screams DNQ, it's so generic.
February 25, 201114 yr I hope Track$h!ttaz win. So. Fucking. AMAZING. Apparently it's the favourite...not sure how I feel about that. This is on now, I started to watch it but there's FAR too much talking - two songs in half an hour :drama: Come on Nadine! Or at least something good...
February 25, 201114 yr This is laughable. It would have the same effect on Europe as Daz Sampson did, difference being that it won't make the final. Slightly redeemed by the accordion though.
February 25, 201114 yr Accordion. That is what makes me love this song shocker. :kink: Otherwise it's a pile of poo.
February 25, 201114 yr Nadine was incredible vocally and the song is brilliant! What's up with her hairstyle though :drama: Awful fringe... Nothing beats a gospel choir and dry ice does it...
