According to some people on Twitter who were at Diana's Colwyn Bay gig today, she said that the album would be out later this year! Contrasting information to what we heard last week, but hopefully it will be cleared up in the London headline gig next week.

 

Panic over hopefully and that it will be coming this year after all!! :cheer:

Just seen Digital Spy's 10 tracks you need to hear advertised on the home page and it was Diana's picture they used! Something I read on Popjustice made me think how well she's done to keep a relatively high profile with her fashion range, make-up range and presenting jobs to name a few despite not releasing anything for the best part of 2 years!

 

Also, the music tasters/leaks have been great timing too! Music To Make Boys Cry and Kiss Of A Bullet created a buzz around her heading into the new year with her February shows with the unplanned Boy In Paris leak keeping that momentum going just before the shows began. Then just as things died down again in the past month or so and rumours of a 2013 release, 'Colours' was leaked around these new shows she's doing and the buzz has reignited again with the confirmation of a 2012 release again!

 

Confirmation by Diana for the 2012 release of the album is found at the end of this video of 'Boy In Paris' filmed at her Colwyn Bay gig a couple of days ago!

 

 

Diana is also currently performing at her headline gig in London's O2 Academy right now, so let's see what arises from that tonight! :D

Here is an interview with Diana after her gig at Lytham Proms on the 5th August! It seems Diana doesn't really know herself when this album is going to be released as she now says "my album out later this year, early next year", skip to around the 1:10 mark to see what she says about the album and this release date which seems to change every few days!

 

 

However, its great to hear an interview with Diana again - first time in quite a while! :wub:

No more album news for the time being except that she is 'finishing it off'. However, Diana is going to jet off to Africa for a month or so after the Olly support shows have finished to star in a new indie film! :cheer:

 

That's amazing for Diana, next stop Hollywood? :kink:

that's brilliant! :wub: I think little voice proved that she can be a triple threat, but now that she's going to be starring in an actual film maybe she can take her acting to the next level if it gets a good review!

I really hope so, this could be another big break for her! Even though it is an indie film, some do perform extremely well!

Example brands X Factor’s Diana Vickers ‘useless’ at V Festival

 

Example became the centre of more controversy today as he slated former X Factor contestant Diana Vickers.

 

Speaking in an interview with 4Music before he took to the stage, the “Changed the Way You Kiss Me” hitmaker revealed his frustration at having to perform before the reality TV star at V Festival 2011. Inflated sense of self-worth, much?

 

After being asked “what are you saying?” Example replied with “I’m saying Diana Vickers is useless.” OUCH!

 

Example is never far from these sorts of remarks, and can often be seen on Twitter hitting back at those who tweet him with brash comments. When I asked why he was rude to some of his fans last year, he replied with a comment about my personal appearance and blocked me on the social networking site.

 

It seems that Example feels the need to keep up this persona of being an outspoken and nasty pop star, but I really don’t think it’ll be doing him any favours. This sort of uncalled for abuse is far from appealing, but at the same time utterly compelling. What will he say next?

 

Example’s new single Say Nothing is out September 16, but if I were you, I’d spend my money more wisely! So, where do you stand in this whole affair? Team Example, Team Diana, or do you really not care at all!? Leave your comments below.

What a horrible person Example can be! This abuse he has given out to Diana (and other artists in the past) is totally uncalled for and completely undeserved also. You can see every single commenter underneath the article supporting Diana (bar one) and rightly so!

 

This comment summed it up perfectly I think:

Team Vickers! Surely a “useful” artist can gain popularity from their TALENT, rather than being purposely controversial to get yourself a bit of attention.

Example has said nice things about Diana in the past, back in the days when he was performing before her in the V line-up because she was the bigger artist. Now that she’s not releasing music and he’s the bigger artist he thinks it’s acceptable to make pathetic attempts at attention seeking… Okay.

If you’re making the headlines because you’re constantly chasing after a few five seconds of fame, you’re not getting attention for the right reasons. Who’s the respectable artist here?

Anyway, Diana Vickers? Useless? She was a breath of fresh air on X Factor – just what’s needed on such a false, manufactured show. She’s a singer/song writer along with writing songs for other artists, she’s designed a best selling fashion range, she’s a theatre actress which she’s won a prestigious award for, she’s a film actress, she’s been the face of a make up range, she DJs at large events, she’s an amazing performer, she presents, she writes and dabbles with playing instruments too. Useless? Not so much.

Looks like Example’s just trying to become a copy of Professor Green with his controversial comments. It’s embarrassing really.

 

Gosh, I REALLY can't stand Example as a person. He was getting into arguments on Twitter with Alexandra Burke and Rochelle from The Saturdays too, he really comes across vile and rude. Diana may not be as successful as he has been, but she's definitely the better person here, I can't imagine her dishing out abuse to anyone.

Diana Vickers has said that her next album is "very pop".

 

The former X Factor star told PA at V Festival's Virgin Media Louder Lounge that she had completed work on the follow-up to her 2010 debut Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree.

"It's between Kylie and Madonna, but early days," she said.

"They've been my inspiration. Pop's the way forward, so I'm going to keep it very pop."

 

Vickers's most recent release was standalone single 'My Wicked Heart'.

She parted ways with record label RCA a year ago and later suggested that an EP of new material could be released before the end of 2011.

 

Vickers previously said of her new material: "It's pop, but it's different from the last one.

"I've grown up and have a lot more I want to write about. I was influenced by '80s Madonna, it's edgy - it definitely has an attitude."

 

New songs and demos including 'Colours', 'Low', 'Boy in Paris', 'Kiss of a Bullet' and 'Music to Make the Boys Cry' have been released online or leaked since Vickers's last official single.

It's been officially completed for about five million days haha, I wish she would just shut the f*** up until she's actually going to release it. She's becoming increasingly annoying.

Just seen on Popjustice forums that the song she did with the "Timebomb" duo (Paul Harris and Matt Schwartz) last month is called "We Danced All Night"! Maybe that was the last song she needed to complete the album! I guess any studio time she has now is to finish off any mixing or production. I still believe that we will get this album and things will fall into place once Diana returns from her Africa acting trip!

Diana tweeted yesterday that she was going to South Africa for her new film in 5 days!

 

Just looking on iTunes, for some reason the 'My Wicked Heart' single no longer has the campfire version and now just has the single version! It is now called a 'partial album', I thought that was weird as I've never seen that before! Also, I saw a tribute version on there for 'Music To Make Boys Cry'! I think if Diana isn't releasing her album this year, she might as well put out an EP of 'Music To Make Boys Cry', 'Kiss of a Bullet' and the final version (if it is different to what we already have) of 'Boy In Paris' seeing as they are all out in the public anyway! It wouldn't do anything special but it would give us fans the chance to buy something and make her a little bit of money as well. And you never know, it could take off with a TV performance of one of the tracks or something.

Today, someone asked Diana on twitter why she had gone quiet on the music front. Diana replied:

 

my album is being produced and its taking time because its not quite where we want it yet. When that's done we can get a move!

 

Does "we" suggest she has a label she's working with now? At least it's still happening! :cheer:

I saw her last weekend supporting Olly Murs at his Chelmsford gig. She converted me into a fan, she's brilliant live! She was much better than Pixie Lott actually who I was disappointed with - Diana got the crowd much more warmed up and I love the sound of her new stuff, sounds a lot better than her earlier stuff.

That's great to hear! I've yet to be able to get to one of Diana's gigs, such a shame but hopefully I'll be able to get to one next time! I've read comments from people who have been to a Diana gig and they always say how great she is live and interacts with the audience (which I've seen on YouTube too) and I'm glad you've experienced that! Glad you've been converted to a fan! :cheer:
