Russia's national broadcaster (Channel One) is expected to make an announcement regarding their participation in this year's Eurovision Song Contest next week. According to esckaz.com, last year's runner-up in the Russian national selection, the ensamble Buranovskie babushki, were invited by Channel One to submit a song.

Russia's national selection is expected to take place during the first week of March when several local artists will try to win the honour of representing world's largest country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

The ensemble Buranovskie babushki was invited by the Russian television to submit a song for this year's national selection due to their second placing in 2010. Long long birch bark and how to make ayshon from it was the title of their first attempt to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest last year.

Although the news is still awaiting official confirmation, esctoday.com can reveal that several Russian artists were invited to this year's selection as wildcards while the other participating acts will be selected by a special jury consisting of professionals involved in the local show-business.

Peter Nalitch and his band won last year's Russian ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song entitled Lost and forgotten qualified for the big final where it ranked 11th.

Buranovskie babushki?! Pavel is going to DIE with excitement. :P

I already have. :w00t:

BTWZ they finished 3RD last year.

Russia is apparently trying to take over Jamala to represent them...
Yeah he signed a contract that says Alex will have to record at least a 10-song english language album produced by RedOne. I'm pretty psyched 'bout this! :o

Wow, Russia got ESC 11 in the bag now
Hope the RedOne part is true and not just some rumour :o And I hope it's better than 'Dance Alone' (which I still like). He's quite attractive too, this Alex, so it could be really brilliant (as long as he can sing, of course)
Excellent! Will be a bit of a blow for Christer Bjorkman seeing as he's trying so hard to push Love Generation for Sweden (it's never going to happen...). If it's good, and it's hardly likely not to be - RedOne has about a 99% hit rate, then there's a pretty huge chance that we'll be back to Russia next year I guess! Pleased he'll finally be involved with Eurovision :D

It's official.

Granted, you won't understand 99% of what is said here but you can trust me!

I understand Alexey Vorobyov, RedOne and Lady GaGa :kink:
Red One? Ugh. The Timbaland entry was overrated as hell too. Its pretty bad that countries are resorting to getting foreign superproducers instead of realying on their own.

It wasn't Timbaland, it was Jim Beanz...

Errr, Mamo and Lost And Forgotten were both THAT AMAZING...

Okay, Song Number One was good and produced by a russian, but this happens like one time in a decade. :(

Why ugh? RedOne's arguably the best pop producer in the world right now :o

It will leave sour grapes for Sweden if Russia manage to win with a RedOne song...but as stated the other day somewhere, Russia already pretty much have 90 points guaranteed no matter what they send, so with Red One on board, they really only need to find 150 more from the remaining 30+ countries to win, which shouldn't be too hard if it's a good song.

Good to see that Red One was actually pretty hands on in the recording of this song!

From what I hear, he barely had anything to do with Love Generation's song.
