The 'Kidz' singer spoke about the emotional drain Take That placed on him back in the early '90s. "I think every person's job either feeds them or takes from them," he told The Sunday Times. "Take That, for me, the first time, took from me. It gave me money, it gave me a standard of living, but it robbed me of my voice. "To come back as an older adult, on my guard a bit and wiser, I know it sounds melodramatic, but it's like there's this thing up there, and we can all give to it and get back from it, and it shines into us, and we can all grow from it." In the same piece, Robbie Williams spoke of how the band managed to get over their "s**t" with each other, explaining that they all "owned it", which allowed them to "move on". Orange previously claimed that he did not want Williams's return to the band to be recorded for a documentary.
February 28, 201114 yr After hearing him sing live, all I can say is thank god they did! Just kidding but seriously what is he on about? He was only in a bloody boyband. It lasted five years and left him super rich, he has nothing to complain about.

It actually started before Robbie re-joined - its just that its getting worse now. As you say - they should remember that at the basis of this - they ARE still a boyband. They don't play instruments - they're there to put on a show - all singing - all dancing - and if you're going to do that - then you really can't get too serious about yourselves. The music - yes - but Take That as a concept - definitely NOT! Its one of the reasons that really started to put me off them. I'm trying to do what Pete says now - just listen to the music (which is a bit ballsier now Rob is in there) and just ignore all the other sh/te that goes with Take That. March 1, 201114 yr Author At last Norma you are coming round to my way of thinking, for me i can totally forget about the lads themselves, and what they think and what they believe etc and whether them and are robbie are friends or not, i couldnt give a fig, apart from kylie i dont take any heed in the personal statements etc by any of the celebrities as at the end of the day its nothing but a job to them and well paid job at that too. So all i ask of them is deliver music that will keep me smiling and when i get that im a happy camper and couldnt care less about the rest. As for this stuff from jason, all i can say is from what i have heard of him singing im fairly happy he is just basically a backing singer as im not overly keen on his voice its to shakey and timid for me, so let him have his song on the album and leave it at that, for someone though who is basically a backing singer he has made quiet alof of money from it so i wouldnt be disapointed if it was me,no mortgage now wouldnt that be heaven!!! I must say i always enjoy garys vocal, mark i enjoy most of the time, robbie im starting to like his voice in some songs but he grates the hell out of me in others he has done but i wish they would let howard sing more, i really like his voice and wish they would use it more. Sometimes Pete though - its difficult to separate the two aspects (music & group) when some of the songs are about stuff that they are opposed to. For example - although I like the tune to Kidz - I find it grossly hypocritical of them - well Gary anyway - who openly backs - nay - ENDORSES - a political party that is trying to deprive more kids of an education. Or rather - by taking away the financial backing - making it less possible for children of WORKING poorer families to go on to further education. Also - so much for his climbing Kili (and getting £2M added to the pot by Gordon Brown) when THIS present government is considering lowering or cancelling overseas food aid. On the Kili matter - I think its well known that the money spent on the venture was probably as much as what was raised - so if Gary & Co had just donated a bit themselves - they needn't have bothered. But then again - it was just a photo-opportunity for all involved. The same as the CIN gig! You're taking Jason's words too literally - I don't think he was talking of his (singing) voice - he was talking about his voice in his right to voice opinions. And in this case - he would have been very justified in *feeling silenced. You may think of him as a backing singer/dancer - but without the presence of ALL five - Take That wouldn't have existed - and they should thank each other for that - each of them has made the others considerably rich. Believe me Pete - apart from the big singles - their music really wasn't that great to begin with - and it was the whole 'boyband' thing that made it work for them. I actually disagree with you on Jason's voice - yes - shaky with nerves and lack of confidence (I wonder what could have caused that?) - but he actually has a very, very good voice. In some ways - better than Rob's and Gary's rather 'generic' sounding voices. Kath *From the evidence of LBDS - he's being silenced this time around too. Edited March 1, 201114 yr by Kathyp
March 1, 201114 yr I actually disagree with you on Jason's voice - yes - shaky with nerves and lack of confidence (I wonder what could have caused that?) - but he actually has a very, very good voice. In some ways - better than Rob's and Gary's rather 'generic' sounding voices. I really like Jason's voice and it really suited Wooden Boat. I'd love to hear him sing more stuff like that. I don't think he's better than Rob or Gary though, I agree that Gary's voice is a bit generic sounding but I think Robbie's is quite the opposite. Mark always amazes me with his voice, I know lots of people hate his tone but it's incredible how much he's improved over the years. Listen to The Day After Tomorrow from Nobody Else and then listen to What Do You Want From Me? from Progress. It could almost be a different person.
March 2, 201114 yr Author I have always liked marks voice but i agree he has got stronger and stronger and more distinctive in the process, garys voice at times maybe generic but i like it especially live, robbie is very hot and miss for though.
