I LOVE BELARUS. This song is going to be permanently stuck in my head for the next few weeks I can tell. What are you thinking about their chances?

OMG I LOVE BELARUS TOO. I think it's going to be one of those absolute TERRIBLE classics that falls at the semi stage though, like the Netherlands last year. I reckon it'll finish 14th, but the performance is going to be spectacular, I can just tell!

Who do you think the few in contention for victory will be?

Oh no, Belarus is FAR better than the Netherlands! As for victory...I reckon we're going to do it. I actually truly believe we are going to win this year. Azerbaijan will be in the top three, Russia in the top five and Sweden and France will be floating up there too, but I really think we have the best all round song to take the title. Perhaps I'm getting a bit carried away, but I really can't see Azerbaijan quite managing to win with theirs.

I reckon something REALLY ANNOYING's going to happen, like France or Azerbaijan getting huge amounts of support, or Russia winning by default. I reckon the top five is going to be us, France, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Russia though, with maybe Israel, Norway and Denmark replacing France, Sweden and possibly Russia.

I've just noticed, Israel 9th in the semi?! :o I reckon it's bound to get revamped.

It needs a revamp tbh! I don't think much to the song tbh, and if it was sung by anyone else I'd be predicting a non-qualifier right now.

I love it, but then Dana is innately fabulous.

I'm not sure what I'm thinking to Romania and Slovakia's chances actually! I'm beginning to think the latter may be a fan favourite (ish) that bombs, and I'm hoping that Denmark pisses all over Change's parade - although I'm quite scared that it won't and we'll have to deal with that shit in the final.

Also, can we get some APPRECIATION FOR WOLF KATI? http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/icons/disco.gif Szerelem Miert Mulsz is the most painfully fabulous thing I think I'll hear all year. I want her whole performance to be like Sanna Nielsen's after she was let out of the cage.

It is an AMAZING song, even more so in it's final form, but this is Hungary who's hit rate isn't exactly the best... Also, Hera sent the best song that will ever exist from this genre and still didn't win that painfully awful semi final last year, so Kati Wolf's chances are moderate at best. I hope she sneaks through, but I'm not going to hold out much hope as if I do and it fails, I'll be heartbroken

Kati Wolf (or Wolf Kati? I can never decide which way around that name goes) isn't exactly poppers-tastic schlager though! It strikes me much more as poppers-tastic power balladry - with added choir http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/icons/disco.gif

I agree that I will be absolutely distraught if it misses out, especially to something like Greece.

I think Hungary have missed out before due to song quality - didn't they do well in 2007? Great position in the semi, I think it should sail through. Won't attempt to work out it's final chances.

Hungary haven't missed out unjustifiably to my memory. OK, they probably should've done a bit better in 2005, but they were one of the highlights of 2007 and got an appropriate result, and were terrible in 2008 and 2009 and didn't qualify as a result...

Hungary has an awesome draw... can't see it missing out...

Both names are correct. If I've worked it out correctly, Wolf Kati is the native name, whereas Kati Wolf is her name in Western name order.

I suppose you're right that What About My Dreams isn't quite the poppers o'clock anthem Je Ne Sais Quoi was, but so many other similar songs have failed - If I Had Your Love, Je T'adore, Vrag Naj Vzame to name a few.

She's got a very good draw though following the commercial break, so hopefully she'll qualify. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

My predictions even though I'll probably change them in time

Time for a second bash at predicting now we have the running order and all the songs...

I know, I KNOW, I've broken the unwritten rule of Eurovision predictions: thou shalt always count upon Turkey to qualify with any old dreck. HOWEVER, they've got a bloody awful position in the running order, the song is the first one they've entered to date where I genuinely can't see where the votes will come from aside from the diaspora (of which there isn't much in this semi - and there aren't exactly many car rock voters about judging by Montenegro and Macedonia's failures), so I think they could end up just missing out. Croatia and Poland won't be pleased with their failures but I can see both sadly being pipped at the close by Georgia and Armenia - despite the latter being the worst Armenian entry to date - and though Switzerland's track is fairly universal I can see it being overshadowed by Finland and falling away. Albania won't do much with an entry which is a little too similar to tracks they've failed with in the past (it reminds me of a lesser Ledina Celo) and a terrible position in the running order. Expected failures will result for Iceland, San Marino, Portugal and Malta - the latter in particular REALLY suffering due to a really cheaply done entry from a poor performer with no obvious voting audience. But anyway, onto the successes - I can see Azerbaijan absolutely LANDSLIDING this semi, going on as the penultimate performance with a fairly anthemic track. Russia's entry will do well, but if Dima could only manage third in his semi I doubt Alex will manage much better with ropey performances to date, a song that isn't hugely universal, and a poor position in the running order. I think, at this point, the shocker of the semi will be Hungary coming second with a Hera Bjork-style performance which will stand out between Iceland and Portugal in the running order - although I think a slump in the final is sadly inevitable.

Contrary to my previous beliefs, I now see Bosnia getting enough widespread support to win this semi, and I reckon it'll probably come top ten in the final as well (although I think Denmark will perform better than Bosnia in the final). I now think the big story of this semi will be Belarus qualifying - although I think it'll be quite close. I've revised my predictions so that Romania no longer qualifies - the entry is incredibly cheaply produced, and sounds like the sort of thing you'd find on one of those knock-off cover version albums by CDM Project or something of an act like Scouting For Girls, and it comes between two tracks which will go down fairly big in the hall in Slovenia and Estonia. Ireland have done slightly better in this prediction due to their rather fortuitous performance slot, closing the semi, but I don't see them qualifying despite this - if the Netherlands could fail off the pimp slot in 2009, I don't see the hugely obnoxious Jedward doing so either.

I've yet to hear Italy, France, Spain and the United Kingdom, but so far I'm predicting Lena MEYER-LANDRUT to do the double!

It's a huge, dark track, and with her style and a matching performance I can see big things coming for the Germans again.

If not, I'd say either Azerbaijan or Russia will take it.

Sweden has no chance in hell of winning IMO.

But I still have to listen to those four tracks looking for a winner...
