Posted July 26, 200618 yr Virgin.net Music news Michael unrepentant Pop star George Michael is unrepentant after being spotted cavorting in Hampstead Heath in the early hours of Tuesday morning last week. The singer insisted that he is still a role model for young gay people, and slammed the tabloids for suggesting that his actions were "depraved". Michael remarked: "I should be able to be what I am to young gay people - which is a man who has managed to succeed in the industry for 25 years. "Sorry if people don't like the fact I cruise on Hampstead Heath but the police absolutely accept that it goes on at night. "It's the only place in London where that is the case so it's generally a safe place." Do you think the George Michael is a good role-model to young gay people & do you think our tabloids are homophobic?
July 26, 200618 yr not particualy homophobic, just shyte stirrers, mud slingers, sensationalist scumbags. imho george has dont nothing wrong, its his life, he is an adult, i couldnt care less about his private life... it is PRIVATE.
July 27, 200618 yr of course. Scummy rags like the Daily Mail are gruesomely homophobic - worse now than ever. Middle class middle England rubbish. The Sun tries its best to pretend it's not homophobic any more - but they always seem to let themselves down with underhand remarks and captions, bless their retarded souls. Good on George, I say - if I were him, I'd up-sticks and move my bed onto the Heath... it's a beautiful spot, great views, and it's warm enough at the moment. I don't think there's a gay man (or bi one..... ) in the whole of London who hasn't, at one time, been to the Heath for a blowie - so what? Like I said on another thread, if there was a park where straight men could go for a no hassle, no strings and no payment b-o-job from a woman..... it'd be jam-packed every night. Just look at how many people go dogging these days - it's spreading like wildfire.
July 27, 200618 yr What George does in his private sex life is his business He does disgust me for driving under the influence of drugs though and his 2 crashes could have put many lives at risk
July 28, 200618 yr People know damn fine what goes on at Hampsted Heath at night, so if they've got a problem with it, just dont bloody go there after dark, problem solved really.... Yes, I do believe that the tabloids are being homophobic, and incredibly hypocritical to boot, The Sun makes it money by selling sex and all these bloody Tabloids carry advertisements for Sex phone lines (which can be read by OUR CHILDREN!!! *SHOCK*, *GASP*..... :o :o ). What George is doing is in private and between two consenting adults. What's the fukkin' problem.....? The only thing I'd question George about is, really, couldn't he have done a bit better than the dodgy-looking geezer he did cop off with....?  And I agree with Oz, i'm more concerned about his drug/driving habits than his sexual ones....
August 4, 200618 yr Hampstead Heath.... isn't it PUBLIC land, anyway? And would there be such an outcry if a man and a woman were caught having it off in the bushes? Christ, I've seen a couple there with my own eyes in BROAD DAYLIGHT.... and nobody said a word. The Sun is incredibly homophobic. This week they had a story that England had won the World Cup - but it was ONLY at the Gay Olympics, held this week in America. Surely this is something to celebrate, not belittle? The article was, of course, flooded with references to ball play and sliding the balls in.... juvenile humour for a readership of limirted intelligence. Even the editorial regarding this story was a poorly written slab of gross homophobia. I wish more people were like the Liverpudlians... who have boycotted The Sun ever since their shameful reporting of the Hillsborough tragedy, where they blamed the fans for the deaths there.
August 4, 200618 yr well as i dont read the sun, i cant really comment on it i guess its got a good music section on fridays. but my mum just took an old token to get the police dvd today and didnt bother to get the paper with the reviews for me  (she could have hid it in the guardian if she was ashamed of getting it!!!)

Agreed, the gay football team did a damn sight better than the overpaid, overindulged media w/ankers that made up the 'official' England team, so hell yeah, it should have been celebrated given all the fuss that's made over football in general. I respected the people of Liverpool for boycotting the Sun, spot on....
