I knew they were showing the BRITs performance, but I was kind of hoping for a proper video. Well apparently she's releasing 'Set Fire to the Rain' next, so hopefully we'll get a decent video for that.

yeah i hope they just focus on set fire to the rain next. i think the brits performance video they're showing works perfectly for the video and really shows off her vocals and then the set fire to the rain can be full of water and explosions :P

God, I really hope AOTL gets top 10, great video play atm so it's possible!

Then again, this is the place where the likes of Kate Nash, Sean Paul, Katy B and Imma Be, Ayo Technology and Do It Like a Dude are often described as vile! I think that word is dished out a bit often here.

Kate Nash is in my top 10 singers ever  :o I love Sean Paul, Katy B, Imma Be and DIALD as well  I just really don't like Buzzin', when it comes on the radio I turn it straight off

 I'm like that with Grenade. Whenever it comes on (which is very often), I just HAVE to change channels. I can't bear it. :(

Yeah, "Grenade" and "Someone Like You" are two songs which I LOVED. Now, I can't stand them any more :(.

Well, I never even liked Grenade in the first place. :( Someone Like You is still okay. I don't like it as much as I used to, but I don't hate it (yet). I can't wait until Price Tag or Someone Like You overtake Grenade as YTD #1.

Ooo, I love that idea! I like how Adele's videos are very simplistic, but I just want her to push the boat out, just a little bit more.

Ugh, Buzzin' is vile :puke: If that gets top 10 when Glee obviously will not with a GENIUS cover of one of the most iconic songs ever, I will SCREAM! Nice to see E.T. taking off though, and also wonderful entries from Nicki and Dionne plus climbs from Eliza, Natalia, Willow and Emily are just keeping my sanity

Someone who agrees! :drama: It sounds so cheap and just awful! Love T/HWR but it's obviously not going to, but I will be upset if Buzzin' makes the top 10 when Kanye and LMFAO don't :( Hopefully Nicki gets another top 40 with GFLD so she can build her reputation in the UK :D

"Price Tag" is the only one that hasn't got worn out. I still love it .

Price Tag has worn for me me a bit tbh. :( I liked it at first, but I never dreamt it would be this massive when I first heard it! :o

Same with Do it Like a Dude. When I first heard it, I thought it'd be in the chart for like 3 weeks or something, and miss the top 20!

Sadly, That's what the chart run of that awful song should have been. Please don't hate me .

Dominoes could do well for Nicki given the sample song was moderately big. She really needs to release Fly though, with Rihanna on it it would be her true breakthrough!

Don't worry. I don't like it that much either! Just so shocked by its success! :o

I got bored of Price Tag really easy!

I did play it about 20 times a day for the first week! :kink:

:). I don't like it at all .

Girls Fall Like Dominoes is a very strange choice of single, Fly or even Roman's Revenge would be better (though the latter might sound a bit too American for British audiences - cue sarcastic vidcapper comment). I do like it a lot though and it seems to be working out so far.

I want to know how Minaj even knows about The Big Pink :o

Jamie Woon is at #99 with Lady Luck :D Hopefully it can at least get him a second top 100 hit, big shame he's failed to deliver after Sound of 2011 :( His album might go top 10 but will probably drop really quickly

To be honest, in general, there's so many samples, especially in American hip hop songs, which I find out, and I literally just sit there trying to fathom how the artists and producers know of those songs in the first place. Like when N-Dubz sampled Canon. You just wouldn't think they'd know of a song like that! But there's much more extreme things. Like people like Timbaland and the Black Eyed Peas have sampled Indian songs from decades ago, which literally nobody would ever know (even at the time, they weren't that well known). Heck, Timbaland has even sampled from computer games before! :o Or in a few Eminem songs you get some random Italian classical song from hundreds of years ago getting sampled. I've always found this very peculiar tbh.

Like imagine in 100 years time someone decides to sample The Boy Who Murdered Love by Diana Vickers. It's a song nobody will know in 100 years time, probably. It's a song that pretty much nobody in a country outside of the UK would know, even today. It's a song, that even at its peak of popularity, wasn't very popular. It's just be so random, yet that's basically what some of those artists do when they sample from songs. Always baffled me tbh.

Oh yes please. I want to be around to see that :). I think they sample little known songs so it can be more easily passed off as original to the casual buyer.

I don't know. I think they just sample whatever they think will sound good.

They're not ashamed of sampling at all. It's completely normal to them. Sampling isn't something they'd try and do secretly, and this is evidenced simply by how the artists often go into interviews and talk about all the samples they've used so openly, or how they often have a massive list of samples they've used on their albums, and so on.

I mean, you get the Black Eyed Peas sampling Dirty Dancing, or T.I. sampling O-Zone, or Eminem sampling Haddaway, or Flo Rida sampling Eiffel 65, or Kanye sampling Daft Punk. I can go on forever. They may sample ridiculously obscure songs that they shouldn't know unless they're crazy, but at the same time, they sample songs which every single person on the face of the planet knows. They can't possibly pass those off as original!

I think they just use whatever beats sound good, whether they use samples or not.
