Someone on twitter asked Richard x how much of the album is completed...

The Totaliser has been destroyed by fire. I'll have to guess at 58%.

I really hope his new album will have more of a commercial sound and be more upbeat. The last studio album was his least commerical and many of the songs appeared dull and uninspiring.

I pretty much thought overall it was very commercial sounding, apart from tracks 12 and 13, but I agree with you in wanting a more upbeat album. :thumbup:

For me LIG was lyrically and musically some of the best stuff he's done. It's a great 'break-up' album.

 

If Love Equals Nothing is awesome. The lyrics and melody are beautifully breathtaking. But I suppose in this day of autotuned ringtone music people don't want to listen to lyrics.

 

And he can sing all the songs live too - no studio jiggery pokery - they sound just as good, if not better - so many 'colours' to his voice :wub:

 

Dull and uninspiring - nope. I haven't read any comments about Adele's 21'break up' album being dull and uninspiring and, for me, the songs on LIG are equally as good if not better than some of her's on 21. Yes, she had a big hit with RITD but I find some of the other songs on 21 a bit 'samey' and am a bit disappointed I have to say.

 

But each to their own, eh.

Leave Right Now on Magic at about 8.45 this morning. When it had finished Foxy said something like that was Will Young, I wish he'd release some new stuff, not that I don't still like the old stuff cos I do, but it would be great to have something new. As well as finishing his album Will has been doing some more acting. Although when I bumped into Will a few days ago at a restaurant Will was telling me about what he's recording, which will have a different sound for him, he's very excited about it and is going to send some over for me, so that's some news for you if you're one of the many Will Young fans, very loyal fans Will's fans.

I would hope he keeps the disc to himself - I'd hate the songs to get out and blow his chances of selling well. It's his first new music for 3 years. There's a 'taster' and then there's a fullbown leak.

With regard to David Russell's tweets it bemuses me why British artists are still so hung up with cracking the states, when sales are so low. Most of them end up being one album wonders 9especially if their success is just down to tv exposure0 & often return to their homegrown forgotten. The only way to have true success is to live out there & spend at least a year touring.
