March 26, 201114 yr Incredible dance song, still remember the first time I heard it very vividly - I was blown away. Quite the opposite to my reaction when I first heard it then (which would definitely have been when it was announced as the #1, as I almost never heard songs before they charted at that point) - which was probably akin to this emoticon =>  Mind you, half of that probably would have been disappointment as back then I would get excited to hear the #1 as I usually trusted the public's taste (!) enough for it to be something good. I can understand why people like it, I guess, but it's not my bag at all :( I actually almost gave it my -2 last round but decided that nothing is more odious than Cliff in the end. That said, it's my least favourite song currently in the final, but I have a feeling the ever horrendous Puff Daddy will get a wildcard anyway so that will spare ATB there too. Great to see Babylon Zoo, Cher and Blur looking like they'll make the final :D Poor Shoop Shoop though - I should have given it points! It's a good cover IMO.

March 27, 201114 yr That ^^^ doesn't sound like the correct version. This here is the original, it doesn't sound that different, - but this is much better and that is a bit remixed. ri6Efk1SPJc That was the European version, which I'm not really a massive fan of - I loved the bendy synths of the UK radio edit which is the shorter version that I posted. I don't think any other countries got the UK edit, I remember hearing the version you posted first when I bought the album on import and I was disappointed. That said, I much preferred the German/European version of Don't Stop to the dancier UK radio edit. German version DgvePeDIt3Y UK version XhxaSjPAvSs

Each to their own, it was the song that really turned me into a dance music fan. My impressionable 12 year old ears were sufficiently impressed clearly! The first time I heard it was in passing on CD:UK I think, and then the second time, when I really took notice of it, was at a listening stand in Virgin Megastores. I rarely stood at those and listened to full songs but on that occasion I did - and then bought the single  I found it so different and euphoric, and it has to be said that it owes a lot to those bendy synths (which I guess is a love or hate sound), because the European original barely interests me. I'm very surprised about Blur making it so far, I really thought that it defined fanbase #1 what with its tragic chart run. I guess it's picking up a lot of top/high marks rather than having any massively widespread appeal - I listened to it the other day as I bought their Midlife compilation album and I had to skip it, my ears were failing to detect a melody
