Posted July 27, 200618 yr Shakira retains lead on download chart Source: Music Week Shakira retains her lead on the download chart with Hips Don't Lie (Epic), ahead of Lily Allen's Smile (Parlophone), Rihanna's Unfaithful (Def Jam) and Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man (RCA), all of which remain static. Rogue Traders' Voodoo Child (RCA) attempts to crack the all-female barrier at the top of the chart by climbing three places to number three. Similarly, James Morrison ascends 14 places this week to reach number five with You Give Me Something (Polydor). Paolo Nutini, Razorlight, Kooks and Nelly Furtado all hold on to position within the Top 10, while the only new entry to the Top 20 rundown is McFly's charity single Don't Stop Me Now/ Please Please (Universal). The remainder of the chart also remains very similar to last week, with The Automatic, The Zutons, Gnarls Barkley, Snow Patrol and Ne-Yo all keeping a grip on places within the Top 20.

July 27, 200618 yr this is not normal!! i think i know what is going on, it must be to do with the gradual increase of airplay it is very minimal for shakira but it matters she went from #38 to #36, the new people that are hearing it for the first time are buying it the ones that watch music channels are aware of it and have already bought it those aren't the buyers stabilizing shakira's sales its the people in their cars listening to the radio having said that shakira is being denied alot of potental buyers cause radio 1 refuse to play it, she would be selling even more with them on board another factor is HDL is the most played song in europe right now and plane loads of british holiday makers are coming back everyday from europe and are buying HDL to remind them of their holiday, this is 'the holday factor' i'm sure this is part of the reason too plus word of mouth but its been 6 weeks already the word should have spread by now among friends within the first two weeks
July 27, 200618 yr I so want her to be the last ever performance on totp I think the BBC are hoping against that option. It would sum up in one moment the entire BBC music productions demise.
July 27, 200618 yr I reckon TOTP will play the Stones at the end, like the Chart Show began and ended with the same song, in 1986 and 1998. Of course, as the original Stones TOTP appearance is no more, it would mean a new version of I Wanna Be Your Man.
July 27, 200618 yr Yes! I hope shakira is the last top of the pops number one... another one in the face for bbc radio! If her downloads have increased alot hopefully she will be one again one sunday... and yes this is the holiday factor.
July 27, 200618 yr Hmmm...now I'm split between Xtina and Shakira! Shakira would completely destroy the BBC as a real 'in your FACE' moment, but she's had her chance and Xtina REALLY deserves it :cheer: How about Shakira this week and Xtina for the next 5?
July 27, 200618 yr I think the BBC are hoping against that option. It would sum up in one moment the entire BBC music productions demise. that would be soo good!
July 27, 200618 yr i only bought shakira single last week,as it grew on me its a song that takes time to grow on poeple and i think that explains its sales pattern
