Posted April 3, 201114 yr I thought it would be best to keep pilot talk and renewal talk serperate... So what does everyone think to the pilots that are around this year? There are some really strong ones. None of them really seem very original and seem to be taking ispiration from big shows/ films of the past few years (but this America afterall). Persons of Interest, Alcatrz, Exit Strategy, Touch, Grimm, REM, Hallelujah, Locke & Key, Alcatraz and Once Upon a Time all look good to see. I can tell Wonder Woman will be a DISASTER.
April 3, 201114 yr Just from looking at the suit it's obvious that Wonder Woman is going to be car crash central! They're also remaking Charlie's Angels for ABC with a twist in that the Angels are working for Charlie as a sort of redemption for their sins or something. Could be good but the photos I saw of the cast filming looked a bit bland. And it is written by Smallville writers. Is there anywhere with details of every pilot for the major networks in one place?
April 3, 201114 yr Author http://www.tv-calling.com/ has a good list, although it's only looked at ABC and CBS so far. There's a good little list on Digital Spy though in the Tube Talk section.
April 3, 201114 yr I can't wait for the new Wonder Woman. We need some women kicking ass since Buffy and Charmed finished. Majority of shows have rather male dominated heroes like Supernatural, Smallville.

April 3, 201114 yr ABC seem to have a potentially pretty good line-up going for themselves there. I liked the premise of Good Christian Bitches but unforch it seems as though the execution might not be all that going from what tv-calling has to say... however Georgetown (JOSS SCHWARTZ!), Hallelujah, Pan Am, Poe and Don't Trust The Bitch In Apt 23 (amazing title) all sound potentially decent. Possibly Once Upon A Time too I guess although to me that premise smacks of over-ambitious and unlikely to be well-executed visually. As for CBS, absolutely nothing there appeals. I doubt it'll be a good year for them in terms of new series.
April 3, 201114 yr Author ABC have gone big this year, they are just looking for a show to be the new LOST basically. A lot of the pilots this year are trying to tap into the LOST market. Hallelujah is a certainty to get picked up. Wonder Woman will definitely get picked up, but it just looks terrible. It will go down the Bionic Woman route. Probably get good inital ratings but then die down. Can't see it taking off on a regular basis.
April 3, 201114 yr Author im well excited for Alcatraz Does look pretty awesome...have you seen as well as Jorge Garcia, Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn are both in new pilots? Swish.

April 3, 201114 yr Author Yep, 'Odd Jobs' sure to be great. not sure what Jorge is in though. Odd Jobs won't ever hit the light, has been 'put on hold' otherwise means won't happen for a while. Jorge is in Alcatraz, Terry O'Quinn is Hallelujah, and I think Michael Emerson is in the pilot that has got Ethan Hawke in it, although I may be mistaken.

April 4, 201114 yr The futon critic has a great section on Pilots. It tells you which have been picked up, which have been ordered to pilot ep etc. Alcatraz is certain to be picked up for Fox. Some people are reckoning Fringe was packaged with it to make a 4th season more lucrative for Fox. Terra Nova should be interesting. Not the actual show, it looks rather meh, but whether it actually gets on air. It's Spring premier was pushed to fall as the pilot hasn't finished being edited yet. Some serious issues going down there. The Bones spin-off should be interesting, but i'll save judgement on that until the back door pilot in a little over 2wks. I really can't see Fox picking up more than Terra Nova, Alcatraz and three others [bones spin off, Locke & Key and a new 30min comedy seem to be the faves] I doubt they'll even pick up that many. Fox has one hell of a full schedule, unless they are going for the 3rd hour of prime time.
April 4, 201114 yr Author I thought FOX had already picked up Terra Nova? Isn't it a one-off series anyway? It's like the most expensive TV show ever produced I think! Yeh there's no way they won't pick up Alcatraz. Big cast, and J.J. Abrams produced.
April 4, 201114 yr As far as i am aware they have. I should have made that clearer. It looks set to cost a bomb, and it's taking so long to edit as well. Some people seem to think that'll premier huge and drop so quickly Fox will pull it before the Sweeps in November. It looks serialised to such an extent that it'll be more Flashforward than lost. I think they already have picked up Alcatraz, just not officially. There has to be an explanation for the Fringe pick up, and a package deal fits rather well. Plus, it was an early renewal given that House and Bones are both still waiting.

Although if the story is actually good I'm sure it will keep its ratings. FOX have some really good pilots this year, well interesting ones at least. I can't help but feel they're going overkill on reality TV though. Surely X-Factor AND American Idol cannot pull in such huge ratings.

Surely X-Factor AND American Idol cannot pull in such huge ratings. They air So You Think You Can Dance, and two Gordon Ramsay shows as well. The former and one of the later over the summer though thankfully. I really hope X Factor either dies on it's arse or it does well and the next one is the last AI. If it gets amazing ratings [i think they'll both pull big numbers, AI this year is doing really well] and they keep both thats a bloody big chunk of the Fox schedule gone each year. Way too much reality. They need that 3rd hour. There seems to be a lot of reality on USTV and the Americans are loving it. The only think above a 4 on thursdays are AI and Jersey Shore.
April 4, 201114 yr Alcatraz I've heard great reviews about it. Wonder Woman and Charlie's Angels will probably get cancelled after 1 season cough Bionic Woman, Knight Rider cough remakes are pointless, surprisingly Hawaii 5-0 has really taken off. I can see that coming back for a second series, to be honest I can't get into it like the original, watched the first couple of episodes, now they have got boring, its all same same same. And I heard plans for a TV remake for The A. Team.
