May 5, 201114 yr I'd be quite happy to bet all of my posessions on it not being in Bosnia  And if it somehow was, then I would't be going next year - it's not particularly a country I'd like to spend hundreds of pounds on visiting. I'd have gone to Germany if I'd had the forethought to book a hotel before they all went up to £700 a night, for the crap ones :/ Need to be a bit more prepared next year, depending on where it's going to be held of course...
May 5, 201114 yr Trouble is with Germany is they didn't announce it was in Dusseldorf until the start of the year, and there is a major international packaging conference there on the same weekend  So as far as I could tell the hotels were never cheap :( The irony is that my cousin bought a flat in Berlin at the tail end of last year, if it had been there as originally rumoured I probably would have gone too :( Bosnia doesn't sound TOO bad a place to visit, my school was visited by some Bosnians when I was at primay and they were very friendly :heehee: But I'm 99% sure that it won't be the UK or France that wins this year :( And by the way I checked, Big 5 first rehearsals are on Saturday, seems ages away :drama:
May 7, 201114 yr France are apparently incredible in the rehearsals and giving off the first major 'winner' vibe. I still think it will as well and I'm shocked that so many people here still don't think that people will 'get it'. I still wouldn't be at all surprised to see it landslide the votes. I can see it picking up 12s from almost everywhere with the jury votes so the public are really going to have to be against it for it not to stand a chance of winning overall. Even if it came 3rd in the televote and won the jury vote, it could still win if UK came 1st in the televote and 10th with the juries or whatever... But I think that the viewing public WILL 'get it'. I've got it and I usually can't stand this type of music!

Why are you so sure that the UK or France won't be winning? :o Whatever happens, I'll be shocked if either finishes lower than 5th. I can't say the same for any other entry. There are so many songs that could go either way this year.
May 7, 201114 yr Just saw the video of France's rehearsal... I guess we're heading to Paris next year. :P
May 7, 201114 yr But I think that the viewing public WILL 'get it'. I've got it and I usually can't stand this type of music! Well 'Sognu' definitely stood out when I first heard it. Maybe the fact I'd already heard a load of crap from other countries made the France entry sound even more incredible than it actually is. Still, 'Sognu' has remained my overall fave since I posted my Eurovision ranking back in March. You'll be pleased to know Blue are still my second fave. :D
May 7, 201114 yr Just saw the video of France's rehearsal... I guess we're heading to Paris next year. :P I have to agree, the backdrop is amazing, especially towards the end of the song. It looks and feels like a winner to me now, despite being sceptical up uintil now.
May 7, 201114 yr The rehearsal looked and sounded very special indeed. Call me crazy but I can actually imagine this doing really well on iTunes in the UK  It's not that people will only buy club bangers these days, it's just that it's all that radio exposes us to. And I reckon that this song will appeal to a surprising amount of people. I would say that I can imagine Blue's song doing well across Europe too but it criminally still doesn't seem to be released anywhere but the UK, so maybe not... Anyway, I'm bracing myself for AKOE's comments on Blue, I don't expect them to be overly favourable seeing as they always (well Keith Mills in particular) seem to hate the UK entry, and no doubt he'll find fault in the song, Lee's vocals, the staging, dance routine blah blah blah - overhyped, not a winner, not even a contender, bottom half of the scoreboard again for the UK etc...
May 7, 201114 yr Keith is just a ridiculous old twat, the only reason I pay any attention to anything he says is to laugh at whatever ridiculously biased crap he is spouting

I think Blue were in the top 100 on the Irish iTunes last week if that's any consolation. :P From what I can remember, AKOE seem to like the UK entry this year, or at least the studio version of it. Quite looking forward to it myself, although I am worried about Lee's vocals. Although I do admit that AKOE's predictions every year are ghastly!
May 7, 201114 yr I think Keith does like our entry this year, and his prediction last week was the UK to come 5th, but he may find fault in the rehearsal itself. They seem to have something on stage with them that I didn't like the look of in the one photo I saw :( All three bloggers love France though. I'd like the UK to win because I don't know when the next time will be that we send something this good, but fair enough, let us come 2nd if it helps show the BBC, public, established singers that we can still come close. And Paris will be easy to get to next year :P Keith is predicted Finland to come 3rd last week, I found that odd. The only reason I can see them even getting through is because of the quality of the semi. Don't see it troubling the top 10 personally, not been topping odds, fan polls etc.
May 7, 201114 yr Yes, Keith seems to be slating it  I'm really not keen on the screens though, they look pretty dreadful, aren't needed and I'm worried they could cost us votes. It could be fine if they were removed.
May 7, 201114 yr the first Blue rehearsal: Jesus! That video really doesn't do the song any justice! I rarely agree with Keith Mills, but I do see where he's coming from. The screens need to go, so does the dancing, and Lee too! BUT, it's their first rehearsal, so I'm sure it will get a lot better.
May 7, 201114 yr Just watched the first rehearsal and not too keen on the performance..The screens in the back need to go and the dancing just looks very messy It might just be the angle it was filmed at though
May 7, 201114 yr I personally find the French entry even more pretentious and smug than the Swedish entry. Most of the hype around it is based on suggestion I think because there's no obvious winner. I reckon (and hope) that on the night it fails to stand out and one of the semi finalists who gets a good draw will head to victory instead. As far as the Blue rehearsal goes, we haven't got a hope in hell of winning anymore, in fact those screens will probably see us comfortably out of the top 10. Whoever came up with them needs a slap.
May 7, 201114 yr All the UK need to do is just tone it down a little. It's too busy, and because it's too busy the vocals are suffering. "Less is more" and all that.
May 7, 201114 yr Let's all tweet the BBCs Eurovision account begging for the screens to be banished, and maybe he can have some words :kink: But maybe it'll look better when all of them are actually working properly... edit: I've read that there will be some pyros on the night, but they weren't shown during rehearsal Lena followed 'less is more' last year, so did Belgium, both got good results. Will probably work for France as well this time. Edited May 7, 201114 yr by Jaack Sykes
May 7, 201114 yr I personally find the French entry even more pretentious and smug than the Swedish entry. this. plus, disappointed in his live singing. don't get me wrong he is leaps and bounds ahead of majority of contestants, but in terms of opera, he sucks... maybe not completely sucks, but he is at the bottom of operatic talent. had he sung a power ballad he'd be god among men, this way... it's just meh... as for UK... conceited much? hate the screens with creepy faces on them. hose guys are not even THAT good looking... not ugly of course, but if you blow somebody's face up like that he better be a descendant of a greek god... plus the sound was horrible. i will not blame then for that, it's a rehearsal, that's what they are for. but at this point it's rather painful to look at and listen to... just saw Cyprus... i like their approach. ski boots FTW!
May 7, 201114 yr I watched Blue's rehearsal out of morbid curiosity having read the comments... It looks quite crap, did nobody learn anything from the Josh Dubovie staging fiasco last year :drama: Hopefully people will remember that it's a song contest and vote for the song, which when they pull it off 100% - which they hopefully will on the night - can sound fantastic. Overblown performances have certainly won in the past, Lordi, Dima Bilan... I still think we have an outside chance of winning but I really think that France have it in the bag. The only rehearsal that's really blown me away from the semi-finalists is Austria - maybe I'm biased as it's my 2nd favourite of this year, but her voice is flawless, as in my opinion is the song - hopefully Europe will share the opinion as she NEEDS to be in the final, and frankly needs to be top ten in it - unlikely as it is.
