Digital Spy and The Guardian have just tweeted that Channel 5 have confirmed they've got Big Brother and it'll return in August.

 

It's been rumoured pretty much the show finished in September last year. I'm pretty gutted as it's only going to tarnish the memories of the Channel 4 show :(

I was watching MTV News the other day, and they were saying Channel 5 have offered Cheryl Cole 5 Million to be the host. :lol:

Mixed feelings about this. Was rather sad to see the show axed of course, but there was a definate feeling that the time had come for it to go. Will watch the return of course, but I cant help feeling that it's doomed for failure really, in particular if Davina does not return (not that she's of any imprtance to me, if anything she was rather dreadful in the last few years)

I wasn't keen on Davina in the end, not bothered about her not returning. Will watch this, and I hope Channel 5 can bring some new life to it but I won't get my hopes up.

I pretty much agree with all of this. Channel 5 never bodes well ... it's a terrible channel. Cheryl Cole being a host would be awful as well. I'll definetly give it a go when it's on air though!

i don't think i've ever watched anything on channel 5 but i'll definitely be checking the first few out at least just to see how it's changed. i really wont be the same without davina though, she is big brother to me. it'll just be odd not having her doing the house tours and evictions. plus she was such a big fan so her excitement got me excited even when it was crap which is a lot.

 

i hope they bring back some of the good stuff of the past though like the live saturday night tasks and having them do the box task every single day

I wasn't a fan of Big Brother although I did watch it religiously for a couple of years, and I think after the big hoo-ha about it finishing bringing it back on ANY channel is a terrible idea. They should just let it die and be fondly remembered by fans instead of stringing it out and tarnishing it even further.

well, I love BB so I'm glad its back, although even I think the show needed at least a year's break as the format was running pretty dry :(

 

nonetheless I will of course watch this, hopefully Five can bring some ideas to the table and it can be more like Celebrity BB 2010, which was very good- the summer series not so much :(

 

oh and Cheryl Cole host? :nono: that would be enough to make me stop watching in the first place

I'll probably watch the launch night but will probably lose interest after that when I realise another bunch of hopeless wannabes have entered the house. The first two series of Big Brother will never be beaten for pure entertainment.

:w00t: I love BB, and am glad it'll be back BUT I think it'll just be a crap budget version tbh, it'll be gone for good in a year or two :( I was getting fed of Davina, but (as much as I love her) Cheryl won't be a good host :( Ultimately, if Don't Stop Believin' taught us anything, Channel 5 SHOULD NOT do reality...

As if Cheryl would have time to host (or would even want to), she's doing at least one version of XF.

Oh Edit: As if Cheryl is going to host (some of you have mentioned) She is biggest female star on TV. Even she can turn down BB.

I don't think she will otherwise she have to split herself in half for the X Factor US

I love Big Brother. I will see what the Channel 5 series will be like, but I just WISH they'd have let it die. :(

 

I love Davina, but I don't want her hosting on C5, she's done her goodbyes etc. and it wouldn't be the same with her hosting on C5 anyways.

 

PLEASE don't let Cheryl host it. Talk about making it even more of a car crash.

Emma Willis & Myleene Klass are some names that are rumoured to be the new host.
