Only one winner...A lot of runners up. I still feel as though Leila/Molly/Anya/Chantal(and/or Jenah) were utterly robbed in comparison to their winners. I Can't complain about Natasha and Kayla, as, even though I preferred them, they lost out to very strong models.

And I only wish Leila was 2nd but she was third behind probably the most disappointing Top 2 in the recent cycles, c21 aside of course. Lenox getting the boot before Adam was something that broke me until Nyle won the last cycle.

Nah, she was third which seems to be the position a lot of girls worthy of the win had to accept in their respective cycles. :'(

So this has started. I really enjoyed the first ep, some great talent there. Rita isn't as bad as I expected her to be either.

Okay Giah and Binta are automatic faves, the former for her personality for sure

 

I believe we also have our first pair of siblings since Chris/Terra in Cycle 15?

I can't believe they managed to fit a lesbian heartbreak into the first episode.

Okay I've looked at all the blogs and I think I've come up with a ranking so far:

 

1.) Kyle: HOLY HELL. Basically Kim from Cycle 5 but more Halsey looking. Or more like a gender bent Cody Christian, but I hope she'll take this Halsey comparison and run with it. Also I kinda dig short hair so that's a plus. I'm a little bit worried about her modeling potential because I'm struggling to see how she's gonna move the show forward but she can make it at least overseas if she can try to find another dimension within her androgyny. Knowing that my faves always go early she'll end up being a shock boot a la AzMarie :(

 

(side note: we have so many girls named Kyle on this show, this is becoming like Brittany/Sarah/Ebony/Laura all over)

 

2.) Binta: She's got a personality that reminds me of Nnenna a bit so I think she might be an early fave. I also like the way she carries herself. Personally I would like if she got as far as Nnenna, but

 

3.) India: Probably one of two contestants who I think have potential to win this whole thing. There's something about her that makes her look like winner material. First off, her eyes SELL. I think depending on the pictures she'll end up being a consistent hitter rather than flying under the radar like she predicted. And if it's not her that's winning I think that migh end up being...

 

4.) Tatiana: Who looks like she could be more versatile than India. She really wants it and she's out for blood. I'm actually eager to see her portfolio envelop because I do think some of my all-time favorite pictures might come out of it. It's been a while since I added to that (the Lenox ice queen pic was the latest edition).

 

5.) Cody: Well... naturally. I was actually going to rank the twins simultaneously but then I realized that she seemed more dynamic that her sister look-wise. During her panel I kinda dig the whole TLC look she was giving with the hair. I also think that she seems more able to stand on her own than Tash. I hope TPTB don't screw her over by giving her a shit makeover if she gets that far. Why do I feel like she's getting set up to fail... :drama:

 

Also note that I normally like the sibling who goes the furthest. Amanda and Chris were awesome, so... fingers crossed!

 

6.) Giah: Her personality is a 10. Her look needs work. It's almost like you fused Laura from Cycle 13 with Ebony from Cycle 18. Laura's personality with Ebony's look. I think she can go halfway through but I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up being an early boot. My first impression favorites don't usually get far.

 

7.) Cherish: I was gonna place her lower because other than that 30 second introduction of her in the beginning she didn't really leave that much of an impression, but I'll take what I can get. We don't usually get that many gingers on the show (not since Nicole Fox I believe?) so this will be a refresher.

8.) Paige: Mainly because that whole "i did leadership in my school, I was the queen bee without being the stereotypical queen bee" thing might mean she gets the villain edit if Cherish or Courtney don't. Or she'll end up being a bitchier version of Brooke Cycle 7. Other than that something about her falls flat.

 

9.) Courtney: Same thing as Paige most likely. I kinda remember her face but her eyebrows are probably the most memorable thing about her right now.

 

10.) CoryAnne: I dunno I kinda like her hair but she just went POOF after the go sees lmao

 

11.) Justine: looks more like a dancer than a model, sorry honey. Although her family dynamics may be a focal point when it comes to drama and subplots. I dunno, I may be wrong, maybe she'll end up like Shei.

 

12.) Tash: Yeah so here's the other twin. While Cody gives me more high fashion, I can see Tash modeling some earrings that I might be able to see at Macy's. She just doesn't have that kind of edge.

 

13.) Krislian: SOOOOOO beige. And I thought Paige was going to be the boring one.

 

14.) Marissa: Honestly who? Gets that first intro and then POOF. Plus she's so young. I think the furthest she'll get will be similar to where Brooke Cycle 7 placed.

 

This is probably one of the strongest casts since the high fashion cycles. And this is the most invested I've been in a season since Cycle 20. Come on, Rita and co., don't let me down :D

Nobody stands out that much right now to me but I'm loving Binta and Kyle.

 

A bit gutted Arreyon wasn't chosen, she seemed like a surefire Top 14. They probably could've done without some bland ones.

Kyle looks like a twelve-year-old boy. I'm not against androgynous looks but no thanks.

yeah this. I was just as shocked as she was, except you know, without the tears etc. So not as shocked then I guess... And I thought the girl who had a crush on Kyle would get through as well so that whole story could develop and stuff. Oh well. Maybe it's for the best.

Pretty much predicted that bottom 2, although I thought the other would be going home. Don't really have clear favourites yet, but love Cody's look. Courtney looks fierce as well.

 

Liking the hosting / judging panel so far, although I might end up missing Tyra's perceptive insights.

Okay based on this photoshoot, CODY TO WIN. HOLY CRAP. Kyle (so glad she won the challenge!)/India/Binta also had amazing photos.

 

I thought Rita did well for her first panel. You can tell during the elimination she was channeling the softer side of Tyra when the girls were bursting into tears.

After digesting all the photos, here is my preferred call-out:

 

1.) Cody: What a blatantly obvious choice for FCO this week. I loved seeing her vulnerability despite it being kinda calculated on Rita's part (related: HOLY SHIT Tash cries so much), but her photo and her individuality really set her apart from the other models. This is EDGY. Still really digging her 90's urban diva look, and MAN did that show in her photo and her panel look (she kinda looked like Lauryn Hill there). If she keeps cranking out photos like this she is gonna WIN IN A LANDSLIDE Jourdan-style.

 

I feel like I'm really overselling this.

2.) India: As I've said before, her strongest asset is her face, especially THE EYES. And those eyes are controlling the camera and became the focal point of this picture. I love that Ashley gave her some pointers in what sort of angle she would play - I think it would accentuate the eyes more. I expected her to deliver and SHE DID.

 

3.) Binta: As did she. Honestly I think Binta came out SWINGING with both her walk and her picture. It's almost she's faking desperation, like she's loving all the attention that she's getting from the guys. It's also really selling the dress. Panel seems to agree as well.

 

4.) Giah: I guess this is so high in my call-out because I didn't expect Giah to bring this strong of a picture to the first panel (if anything I thought she's end up being MOR for the first three weeks of the competition). It's Diana Ross AND THEN SOME. It actually looks like a cutting edge Harper's Bazaar shoot.

 

5.) Kyle: It's a bit unconventional and her face looks a little uncomfortable but she is serving sexpot Halsey and I love it. She also won the challenge because her walk was more boss-y and very individual (like Law said, she's got swag). Drew said that all her frames were fantastic - I think they would have picked a better picture if so, no? I think there was a frame during all that serving that would have propelled her at least past India. She and Courtney should have switched places in call-out, I thought she was massively underrated.

 

6.) Tash: Regal, selling the dress, exuding classic Hoywood glamour, what more can you ask for? It's safe to say that she has a softer face than her twin, and that kind of Toni Braxton-ness of her body positioning really completes the look. There are stronger pictures, but this was really good. So glad both twins ended up delivering.

 

7.) Tatiana: Hmmm... not as strong as I would have liked, but still a really good picture. It's so 70's that it's crazy. They thought they were gonna put her in that dress to challenge her, naw that made her look more appealing so she wouldn't have to work as hard.

 

8.) Paige: Damn, she was really good throughout that whole episode, woke af, strong walk, and then she gets her best shot and it disappears into the ether. I agree with panel that her leg positioning could have been better but it's all fine in the end. She needs something to make her POP though, because I'm kinda digging her personality now.

 

9.) CoryAnne: It's not as bad as the judges played it out to be, but it's also a little boring. Her face and body aren't really saying anything, and she's flying under the radar for me. Is her main storyline just gonna be "I'm a legacy, I have to work even harder to prove myself omgggggg"?

 

10.) Cherish: After looking at her comp card (can we just call them headshots? That term seems so much cleaner than comp card), I was expecting her to do pretty well in this. But despite the Nicole Kidman comparison during the shoot, the final product was kinda underwhelming. She looks more surprised than classy, which doesn't compliment the whole Moulin Rouge thing the rest of the photo is giving.

 

11.) Courtney: Eh I don't know, the primal thing doesn't really work for her. She looks disconnected from the surroundings and her arms look awkward. It seems more dirty party girl than commercial model, which I guess would work if you were selling some kind of perfume but not here. Panel really oversold this.

 

12.) Marissa: I mean, this is the type of thing that would get slammed by Tyra for looking too pageant-like and not exuding the model's inner psyche. It does seem a little calculated for Marissa but considering she's kinda blah anyway, she can sorta get away for being extra with her photos. Not this one though, it looks too gaudy.

 

13.) Krislian: She's still so blah to me. Her excuses also kinda turned me off - you could just say that the lights were to bright and you couldn't close your eyes (like you did in your confessional). That said, I just don't see anything about the picture.

 

14.) Justine: Unsurprisingly. The legs were secondary to her, and they weren't the problem that I saw with the picture. Her face was great, but her body looked SO STIFF. It was like trying to exude the DaVinci body thing to no avail. It's kinda sad because she really does have a hot body, but she doesn't know what the hell she wants to do with it. Even sadder is that had she crossed her legs, she wouldn't have been sent home.

oh my god what even. Sorry to be a downer like, but Kim/Kimberly from cycle 10 who quit the show early on, has died. Looks like it was suicide, just like her mother and ex-boyfriend (and the hurt she was experiencing from those was the real reason she quit the show). And it happened around the same time as the death of Franca Sozzani who was a big name in fashion and a guest judge on cycle 15. R.I.P.
