i LOVE that black girl without hair and amazing bone structure. cannot wait to actually see the photoshoots and stuff but it already shows that the panel is now way less clueless about what's good and what's not which was a common theme last cycle~

I dig Liz’s style but I feel like she’s gonna be another Lisa (i.e. too crazy)...Rio/Ivana/Rhyian/Jeana were also standouts.

That was such a weak launch episode, it all felt so nothingy :(.

God I am SO GLAD they’re adding more runway challenges for ACTUAL CAMPAIGNS this season. So far we’ve had as much runway as we had last season :D The outfits were really out of point too.

 

I missed the amount of life Tyra gave to panel :wub: :wub: :wub: WHY IS ANTM GETTING A MOBILE APP THO?!?!

 

• Brendi: Part of her outfit reminds me of a Maisie Williams outfit :P I can feel the awkwardness during the photoshoot though, especially with the backstory tied into her side of the shoot.

• Christina: The body language is nice in her photo, but at the same time HER FACE LOOKED BLANK.

• Coura: KILLED IT during the runway challenge. Her photo is pretty decent, but I have yet to be pulled by her.

• Erin: She comes off as very one-dimensional personality-wise. Pretty soon this “as a mom” shtick and crying about everything is gonna get old. The picture was brilliant though.

• Ivana: I thought her walk was decent, shame she ended up missing her mark. Her picture GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS.

• Jeana: Bright and radiant. And her face just shines through.

• Khrys: Her walk was amazing but it was that combined with her Sasha Pieterse-esque look sold it for me. Her photo is ethereal, she’s giving Victoria’ Secret angel teas.

• Kyla: Definitely blending in, and instantly forgot about her picture.

• Liberty: ...I’m still not entirely sure if I’m feeling her. She looks striking but I don’t think she has that extra umph that will get her to the level Paige was at last season.

• Liz: I love how she’s always laughing :wub: I LOOOOVE her personality but I’m waiting for a stellar picture.

• Maggie: WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT PHOTOSHOOT OUTFIT. It was like awkward Coachella. I do agree with Drew, she seemed to be locked in this identity crisis. What happened though... her first photo was amazing...

• Rhyian: She seemed to be blending in a bit but I love her face. If she can improve on her body angles, she can slaughter the competition.

• Rio: FRICK. I’m such a fan of her. I can see the baby bump, and at the same time she’s giving me so much more.

• Sandra: She’s so beautiful, but I wasn’t really feeling much from the picture. I really do think she could have used that “virgin” aspect to her advantage.

• Shanice: Her face looked too hard for the brief and she seemed to have blended a bit as well.

Honestly not a fan of this excessive focus on motion shoots.

jeana's face is SO beautiful without hair, holy shit! i gasped

great photos this week. krystyana's in particular. I gasped. and her acting scene was amazing.

 

liz going was such a rushed moment. one minute she's talking to tyra, next she's like already gone.

I did call Liz quitting the second she said "I don't wanna live here" in the trailer.

 

I liked this challenge, it kinda reminded me of the older days of ANTM. Khrys did well despite her doubts that she wouldn't do as well. Shanice made me laugh so hard - it was such a hot mess and I loved it. "I'm drinking some Hennessy" LORDT.

 

Honestly the quality of photos was so high that I wasn't surprised when Rio got such a low call out despite the panel raving at her best shot. Kyla surprised me by taking a simplistic shot and killing it.

 

Obligatory Ranking:

1.) Jeana - Honestly the "broken doll" pose that she did sold it for me and pushed this so far ahead of everyone else's. Even Khrys.

2.) Khrys - God her outfit SCREAMS "witch house channel background" but she pulled it off really well! Normally it's hard to get lost in a veil (see Krislian last season) but she didn't let the outfit wear her.

3.) Liberty - Okay. I get that the brief was "scared fierce" but I think this was another risk that she took that translated well in the film. In a sea of photos that were supposed to portray something dark, she looks ethereal and she's giving it.

4.) Kyla - It's a simple shot but it feels so haunting yet alluring. Like Elvira meets Guess. She looks regal and in charge but at the same time she's not afraid to cut your throat with her extra long nails. I'm digging it.

5.) Rio - I don't know why but her facial expressions actually make this photo better than it should be. Major bat queen realness.

6.) Sandra - I actually don't think this photo is as bad as the panel made it out to be. Like it's nowhere near "scared fierce" and it looks a bit overacted but at the same time there's some glimmer to it that made it look high fashion? Probably the body angle. I feel like it saved the shot.

7.) Brendi - I don't really get how the angle made it look like she's sitting, but the upper body looks amazing. It's the crab like positioning of her arms, the almost slouched lean and the light hitting her directly. It's almost like she's a vampire staring dead into the sun because she's exposed to the light.

8.) Christina - I don't know why but I found this a bit overrated. I liked the fact that she managed to get a great picture even with the restrictions of her outfit. That thing is a hazard waiting to happen.

9.) Erin - I remember calling out Marissa last season for overposing in the first photoshoot of that season and I got the same vibe from her picture. But dang did she make the outfit look good.

10.) Coura - It looks fierce but it screams more "Amazon warrior princess" than "American Horror Story". Maybe she was the ghost of a female gladiator and went with that. I really hope she finds this balance between hard and soft soon because she really has IT and I would hate to see her go home early.

11.) Shanice - I feel like this picture would have worked had she got a puffier dress but other than that it doesn't really grab me.

12.) Rhyian - She really overanalyzed this shoot. There's not enough fierce in it, it looks like a man got caught cheating and she's the mistress.

 

This has got to be one of my favorite photoshoots ever. That top three is among my favorite photos in recent cycles.

Kyla and Christina's pics were the best for me BY FAR this week.

Obligatory Ranking:

1.) Brendi - WOW. She turned it up a notch. Her eyes POP and everything else just complements it.

2.) Rio - Even though she has all this weight on her, her face looks so relaxed. She’s using every part of her face (so much movement in her eyebrows!!!)

3.) Kyla - I actually thought that this was better than Sandra’s photo!

4.) Sandra - Sure this looks standard Kardashian but it fits her to a tee. This was definitely in her comfort zone.

5.) Shanice - Best photo of her in a while! Also her throwing shade at Christina was hilarious.

6.) Jeana - It’s the softness in her eyes that really captures this.

7.) Khrys - Bright and sunny, yeah I kinda expected it.

8.) Coura - It was another standard shot. It was better than I expected it to be because I thought this was gonna too hard for a beauty shot. In fact I was as stunned as Sandra was. That sandwich should have been the top 3.

9.) Liberty - It’s okay. It feels very in her comfort zone but it falls flat for me.

10.) Christina - It looked that she was almost facing down and putting her weight on everyone else.

11.) Erin - She just disappeared in this shot. It may just be that Christina was putting all this weight on her and Shanice was killing it.

 

Really worried for Liberty in the next episode. Obviously she’s grown in her beliefs and still has an eagerness to learn but it’s waaaaaay out of her comfort zone.

really rooting for Khrystyana. Just found she's actually Russian. So nice to see some diversity. *cough*i like jaslene but natasha should've won*cough*

i don't remember this challenge oops but then again I remember practically nothing from that season since it's one of the worst seasons of ANTM by far

khrystyana's utter slayage. she's 32 too, amazing

Obligatory Ranking:

1.) Khrys - JESUS CHRIST. That photo is like Allison and Kasia's looks had a baby and she's OWNING the shot. Her walk was the best thing in this episode though.

2.) Jeana - I feel like I would have liked this picture more if she used her other hand but it's still amazing af. She hasn't disappointed me yet.

3.) Erin - This was her best week yet. Her walk was youthful and fun and it fit the brief, and her photo transcended between eras.

4.) Shanice - Where is all this sudden slayage coming from? It's like she and Liberty switched places. This is exactly what I expected from the gothic shoot instead of the sleepy mess she made. It oozes personality.

5.) Rio - I think had she used her head to contrast with Valentina's movements more, then this picture would have been stellar.

6.) Sandra - I do see where they're getting at with the "bridal shot" comments. It's standard, not stellar and yet not horrible... it's just there.

7.) Christina - I get the narrative... but there's just WAY TOO MUCH TENSION IN THE MOUTH. It doesn't look princess-y and instead makes her look like a spoiled brat. But I guess that fits her to a tee.

8.) Liberty - Man, she really went through the ringer this week. From the Pride stuff to the drag queens, she was a fish out of water the entire time and no one threw her a lifeline. Though I don't necessarily agree with her beliefs (although yes, systematic and internalized prejudice/discrimination are two different things), her photo wasn't as bad as they made it out to be. I just see two drag queens fighting for the top spot with their eyes. Had she smiled a bit then it would have been better.

 

Now I wouldn't say she was sabotaged like Ben was a couple years ago... but it seems a little too on the "virtue signaling" side to eliminate the Trump supporter on the LGBT episode, decent portfolio be damned. Isn't that just a little too opportunistic?

9.) Brendi - She really could have pulled off a Cersei Lannister type of photo but her pose was too pedestrian. Her face sorta saves it, but it's not enough to overpower Manila, who is just BRINGING IT.

10.) Kyla - This had the potential to be SO GOOD. KYLA FOR GOD'S SAKE YOU'RE AN ACTIVIST. Most of her platform is against standing still and looking pretty, and that's exactly what she did. Had she positioned her hands away from her hips and given a wicked eye, it would have been among the top 3. Instead we're given two shitty eliminations in a row. At least Liberty was trying in her photo.
