Oh COME ON, are you actually going to let the view of your GENITALS come before that of your great POWERS OF OBSERVATION re. his acting skillz.

Couldn't have put it better myself.....

Sorry but he is one of the few people I have an obsessive lust for and all objectivity goes right out of the window.

In terms of his acting I don't think he's any worse in this than Joseph Fiennes for example. They're all a bit hammy. It doesn't detract from the show at all because it's incredibly campy in tone anyway.

Good God. Eva Green is ludicrously brilliant in this! Definitely one of the best actors out there right now, she's electric. TV is really spoiling us for barmy villainesses at the minute what with Ruth Wilson getting her nutjob on in Luther too.

And lots of nice gratuitous skin from JCB. :D

Eva Green is a very capable actress, but I'm not 100% feeling her character. That bit with her being able to see through his eyes was LUDICROUS and not in a fabulously awful way, just plain awful.

Obviously JCB getting naked again was nice, but Leontes is quite hot too I have to say.

Seriously? She gives it everything in every single scene. The eyes scene was a bit ehhh but not because of Eva, just because the special effects were shit. Realistically hers is by some distance the greatest character in this and she's the greatest actor in it too.

Gwynnie annoyed me tonight. She was pretty sappy. The deer blood thing was a good idea though. What a calculating bitch!

I don't even think the effects were that bad, just the IDEA of it was stupid. Maybe I'm just being overly critical though.

Its got a perfect cast but I feel Gen is wrongly cast, the music score throughout the episode was excellent, and the breathtaking view of Ireland where the series is filmed is outstanding, perfect setting for the series. Clare Forlani seems like a spare part in the series, somehow her character does not fit in. Eva Green is perfect for the role of Morgana, her character just steals the series more than anything. Not sure about the casting of Merlin though, haven't seen any magic tricks yet, unless its telling a different side to his character.

As for this episode its basically about Gen, I found it alright nothing special, the action should pick up from Episode 4.

There've been numerous references to his 'abilities'. He saw Arthur's vision whilst he slept as well as looking into Morgan's memories. How could you have missed that?! It's not about 'magic tricks'.

Disagree, Joe Fiennes is definitely better as an actor than JCB... The only thing I think he wasn't really suited for was "Flashforward", but again, that's bad casting more than the actor himself, I just couldn't buy him as a Federal Agent... Fiennes is suited for Merlin, JCB just seems like a "little boy lost" in the central role of Arthur.... Especially if you compare him to Bradley James or even Nigel Terry who played the role in "Excalibur".......

Merlin's a Sorceror dude, not a Wizard like Harry Potter or something, the "magic" in the Arthurian legend is not about waving wands or casting magic missiles, it's based more on manipulation and bending of elemental and natural forces.. As the series progresses, you'll see a bit more of what I mean.... Merlin always emphasises that using these abilities "cost"...

Claire Forlani/Igraine becomes more pivotal in later episodes, just be patient.... ;)

I wasn't denying this, I just thought he was uncharacteristically ropey in the first couple of episodes but then I really warmed to him during the third.

I'm glad we get to see more Igraine, for some reason I really like her despite her lack of facial expressions.

That could be down to Botox though mate, which clearly they had in the 6th Century...

Watched the pilot the other day. It was alright. Got the other 2 episodes recorded as well. Could get better as the show progresses

Great cast i must add though. Eva Green is very good in her role.

It may not have been down to ratings, but I don't think its alltogether shocking that we aren't getting a 2nd series.

I am quite annoyed. I am really into this. I don't know whether i should bother watching the rest. I can't imagine the finale not being a cliffhanger.

Shame they can't do at least like a mini series or at least a tv movie to continue it slightly.
