The band, just got back to Memphis, travelled 80 miles to Bono to perform at the High School Gym, Bono, Arkansas. The attendance was so great that the floor gave away in the middle of the show. Luckily there were no injury's.

Elvis also got himself a new 1954 Cadillac Eldorado which he was showing off to Jimmy Day and others.

Elvis went to Radio Recorders again at noon, where he worked on Christmas songs for his new album. At the end of the session at 8.00 p.m. he sung Don't.

This was the last day of Elvis' Las Vegas engagement. For the first time Elvis closed the show with a cape. After expenses the Colonel and Elvis earned $351,000 for 4 weeks work. There were a lot of reports in the press about Elvis ' illness and his daily visits to the doctors.

Elvis made his appearance in Katz Drug Store, Memphis. There was the opening of a new shopping center and Elvis caused a huge crowd of teenagers. George Klein, Elvis' former classmate at Humes High School was present too.

According to Carl Perkins Elvis played in Bethel Springs, not far from Jackson. This took place at the high school gym and all the girls went wild. After the show Carl and Elvis had a talk about the possibility of Carl singing with the Sun studios as well. Elvis didn't know whether Sam would need an other singer, but however Perkins did visit Sun the next month.

The filming resumed at MGM Studios in Hollywood. And Elvis had a long interview with Lloyd Shearer on the set.

Elvis spoke of all the friends surrounding him. He was stating: " it is important to surround yourself with people who can give you a little happiness". He also spoke about his interest in studying philosophy and mentioned that he would liked to become a doctor and often read medical texts. He said that he was hesitant to make any major changes in his career ( " If I can entertain people with things I'm doing, well, I'd be a fool to tamper with it " ), but at the same time expressed an interest in exploring new directions.

For 10 days Elvis bought a lot for friends, family, staff and strangers. Mostly cars, but also a complete trailer for his cousin Billy Smith, to get him to live in comfort on the grounds of Graceland.

The troop train arrived in Brooklyn at 9.00 a.m. Elvis held a press conference and once again expressed his hope that the fans won't forget him. He walked up the gangplank of the USS Randall 8 times, carrying his duffel bag, so the press could all get a good shot. During the crossing Elvis and Charlie became good friends. Charlie cheered him up.

Elvis was at Radio Recorders from 11.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. to complete soundtrack recording for It Happened At The World's Fair. Don Robertson, songwriter, was invited to play at the session, either piano or organ.

Elvis called Dr. Charles Clarke, because Elvis wasn't well. Clarke came out to Graceland and submitted a bill of $10 for a house call.

Elvis flew back home to Memphis arriving very early in the morning. He remained in Memphis until 5 October, except for some brief trips to Nashville and Dallas.

A day late and in a terrible mood Elvis arrived at the RCA studio in Nashville at 7.00 p.m. The entire evening Elvis tried to speed up things and in 6 hours time they recorded both sides of a single. (Where Did They Go, Lord and Rags To Riches) They also completed the 2 songs left to complete the country album. Due to absence James Burton was replaced by Eddie Hinton on lead guitar.

RCA wanted Elvis to complete at least 4 vocals for tracks Felton Jarvis had already recorded. So with the approval of the Colonel, there was a mobile recording truck sent to Elvis' home in Palm Springs. Elvis however was busy with his new group Voice. After spending a lot of time with Voice for their demos, Elvis finally completed the overdubbing of one of his own songs: Sweet Angeline at 3.00 a.m.

Elvis began another tour booked by Bob Neal. Elvis performed at the Junior High School Gym, Gilmer, Texas.

Elvis drove to Tupelo with his parents, Nick Adams and Barbara Hearn. Elvis had to appear at the Mississippi Alabama Fair And Diary Show. He performed here for the first time at the age of 10. Elvis was wearing a blue velvet shirt, made for him by Natalie Wood's dressmaker. Tammy Wynette, at the age of 14, watched the show from the first row. The show was filmed by Fox Movietone News, but the bad audio made it almost a "silent" movie.

Elvis bought a black 1971 Stutz Blackhawk from Jules Meyers Pontiac in Los Angeles and turned it over to George Barris for customizing. According to Barris, the car, first of its kind in Los Angeles, was meant to be for Frank Sinatra, but Elvis managed to talk Meyers into selling the car to him.

Elvis was in Los Angeles, where the divorce was finalized at the County Superior Courthouse in Santa Monica. The custody of Lisa - Marie was shared and gave Priscilla a cash payment of $725,000. She would get $4,200 each month for spousal support for a year, plus $6,000 a month for 10 years, plus $4,000 a month in child support. As for the sale of the Hillcrest house she would get half.

After a short hearing, only 20 minutes, Elvis and Priscilla came out of the court walking hand in hand.

In The Star appeared an article by Steve Dunleavy (Red and Sonny West's collaborator) with parts of the telephone conversation earlier that month between Elvis and Red, which Red had taped. The headline was: " Elvis Dramatic Plea To His Ex-Bodyguards: Don't Write That Book About Me". This all was a terrible way to wake up for Elvis, that what he had considered to be a private thing between him and his friends was now fully out of control and well known to all.

Elvis performed at the Louisiana Hayride, Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport.

Scotty, Bill and Elvis are forced to cover other artists, since they only had 2 singles out of their own. So this night Fool Fool Fool, I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry and Sittin' On The Top Of The World were sung in this show. In the same show Slim Whitman, Jim Reeves, Jim Ed and Maxine Brown performed their thing.

Since Elvis was still underage Vernon And Gladys had to sign for another contract running for one year. Elvis would get $18 per show and Scotty and Bill $12 each.

November 06, 1955

Elvis performed twice at the Biloxi Community House, Biloxi, Mississippi. Once at 2.00 and once at 8.00 p.m. to benefit the Daily Herald Doll & Toy Fund.

Finally Elvis had persuaded Alan Fortas to rejoin the group and they all flew to Los Angeles to start with the preproduction of Wild In The Country.

Elvis was visited on the set of It Happened At The World's Fair by his father and the Memphis mayor, where the mayor officially accepted Elvis' donation of $50,000 for a couple of Memphis charities.

Photography on Kissin' Cousins was concluded. Elvis had to send Priscilla back to Memphis in order to avoid trouble because Ann-Margret was quoted in the press that she was in love with Elvis and didn't know if they would marry. Again Elvis visited the WDIA Goodwill Review (a radio station) and again he was a warmly greeted visitor. He had his picture taken with his heroes, Little Junior Parker and Bobby Bland. The next day Elvis was quoted in the press: "their music is the real thing. Right from the heart."

Elvis started karate lessons with Jurgen Seydel. Mr. Seydel was known as the "father of the German karate". This sport is a discipline with which Elvis was very fascinated ever since he read an article about Hank Slamasky, an ex-Marine, who pioneered in teaching the sport in the service. Elvis took lessons from Mr. Seydel twice a week until he returned to the States.
