That doesn't mean that much though. Boom! Shake the Room is still a well remembered song, just not played. Babylon 90s like Relfex is 80s, Boom! Shake the Room gets played pretty much every time I'm in there and gets a massive reaction, I'm not sure I've ever heard Mr Vain in there. It's still a fully deserving number one single.

And Boom Shake the Room has 18 plays here... http://comparemyradio.com/tracks/DJ_Jazzy_..._Shake_the_Room

I searched for Boom! Shake The Room with the exclamation mark, so I didn't see that version

I cant believe that Cardigans vile song reached number 21. Insanity! <_<

Yes for Bluetones. Slight Return is a classic.

and both Kylie songs managed top 20. What a surprise! :teresa:

shame the Manics weren't higher, but 25th is still good

I've only discovered that Bluetones song recently- I'm starting to really like it :D

The Bluetones' debut album was really good at the time, you should give it a try if you like the single - I'd imagine it must be a matter of pence on e-bay!

20 - Dee-Lite "Groove Is In The Heart" (1990) (+37)

This song lost the number one spot by eight copies, the closest a number 2 has ever got to number 1. It also lost out a second week but sales weren't as close.

19 - Haddaway "What Is Love" (1993) (+37)

The first of 6 T40 hits for Haddaway, 4 of them going T10. This is by far his biggest, peaking at 2 behind Gabrielle and spending 9 weeks in the T10.

18 - Seal "Crazy" (1993) (+37)

This is his first [solo] and biggest hit. It spent a week at number 2 behind Enigma.

17 - DJ Jurgen pts. Alice Deejay "Better Off Alone" (1999) (+39)

This dance song got denied number one three times by three different artists (Ronan Keating, Westlife & Geri Halliwell). Dance songs are doing well on this countdown, there are 6 more to go (KLF, Dario G, Sash, Prodigy, Robert Miles, Underworld). DJ Jurgen never had another hit but Alice went on to have four more T20 hits, 2 of them going T10

16 - Sash! feat. Tina Cousins "Mysterious Times" (1998) (+41)

This missed out at number one thanks to being released the same week as Boyzone [No Matter What], becoming the fourth number 2 hit for Sash!

The Prodigy top 15 :w00t:

Hopefully Underworld and Robert Miles are both top 5. I wasn't really following other people's votes but I should suspect either Pulp or Oasis will win anyway.

All of my absolute favourites have crashed out now, but glad that Better Off Alone is appreciated enough to go top 20. No surprise that dance is dominating this countdown, along with Britpop, it defined the decade - so many classics. The difference being that the Britpop peak was concentrated into 2 or 3 years, whereas dance was huge throughout the decade.

Nice to see Mysterious Times so high, poor Sash! and all of those #2's without a #1 :drama: He obviously didn't know how to play the chart game, he/his record company surely should have known that he'd have no chance up against No Matter What!

Nah! Madonna will win! :puke2:

Well, things took a massive downturn here - how on earth can Deee-Lite be below Sash, DJ Jurgen and Haddaway?
25 - Manic Street Preachers "A Design For Life" (1996) (+34)

This was the first big hit for the Manics, becoming their highest peaking song at the time. The follow up went to number 5, but they finally scored a number one in September 1998 with "If You Tolerate This...". "A Design For Life" was the first of fourteen T10 hits for the Manics.

Still my favourite single ever. Far be it from me to be correct about anything but it was their 2nd Top 10 Hit....unless I'm reading your post wrong.

if you haven't already fallen in love with it you might like the Stone Roses debut album also. There were a lot of comparisons made between Slight Return and the Roses debut album.

I like the Stone Roses song Love Spreads (another one I've only discovered recently), didn't do very well on here though :(

You're right - the first top ten hit for the Manics was back in 92' with Fatima Mansions. That mistake was probably due to me searching Manic Street Preachers on Chartstats and not clicking on Manic Street Preachers/Fatima Mansions

what about Made of Stone, I Am the Resurrection, Elephant Stone?
