Just had a flashback from my youth, when I discovered these personal chart #1s penned a long time ago.

I thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering some (but not all) of these tracks.

Hope you guys enjoy some of these hidden gems, too:

NOW WITH MY COMMENTS WITHIN BRACKETS

The #1s:

01. GO WEST - We Close Our Eyes (1 week)

[Corker of a song, well deserved of my first top spot]

02. +1 - Nevermore (2 weeks)

[swedish music at this time was... so-so, at best, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Still do]

03. KIM WILDE - Rage To Love (4 weeks)

[Lovely artist, but an underrated song. I'm sticking by this as my third #1.]

04. ANIMOTION - Obsession (1 week)

[i love this even more when I hear this today. Fantastic song, amazing video, and completely awesome. Obsession is right.]

05. EURYTHMICS - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) (7 weeks)

[Yeah, pretty early on, Eurythmics went away & played with my heart strings, but classy, oh so classy]

06. TEARS FOR FEARS - Head Over Heels (1 week)

[uK music, at this point, had few rivals, and yet another smash hit - at least for me- was this splendid number]

07. MADONNA - Into The Groove (1 week)

[This new chick started to get into it by this time, and I just sheeped into the line...]

08. GIORGIO MORODER & PHIL OAKEY - Goodbye Bad Times (1 week)

[Odd, mayhap, but I can see its appeal even now, yay me!]

09. BALTIMORA - Tarzan Boy (1 week)

[This was a scourge then, and I cannot abide it now either... euuuuwwww. Nay me!]

10. FALCO - Rock Me Amadeus (2 weeks)

[At the time, I guess it was a natural upgrade from Tarzan Boy, and it is... But still very much stuck in its era. For good reasons]

11. AMII STEWART - Knock On Wood (12") (1 week)

[This was probably my attempt at catching up with the 70's. Or I just started to enjoy disco.]

12. TIME BANDITS - Endless Road (3 weeks)

[swooon... wonderful. I love this so much. Perfect tune. I'm back on track with my #1s here :) ]

13. OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN - Soul Kiss (2 weeks)

[Odd one out, possibly, but I must admit, I still kind of enjoy this, even though it's hard to see how it survived two weeks at the top. On the other hand, just a few weeks back it was all about Tarzan... Yeah... ok]

14. NASA - Point of View (2 weeks)

[Yay, this is gorgeous. Love, love, love it. Innocent, but yet.. great.]

15. STARSHIP - We Built This City (6 weeks)

[Massive amounts of weeks at the top.. and, some 30 years later, still ok and acceptable, but a tad overrated, no?]

The #1s:

01. WHAM! - Everything She Wants (4 weeks)

[Yeah, this is quality. And I'm not at all surprised this did so well in the States. A bit of an edge (of heaven) and bite to it. Still likes.]

02. ULTRAVOX - Vienna (1 week)

[Again, a tad late, but I guess I was listening so much to it, it had to feature at the top at some point, plus making up for the

fact they missed out on the top spot in the UK. Some consolation...]

03. BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE - The Bottom Line (1 week)

[Adore this track, pun intended]

04. BANGLES - Manic Monday (3 weeks)

[You can sense Prince in this, every beat. I still think this is their finest hour (never got into Walk Like An Egyptian that much),

and I thoroughly enjoy it everytime I hear it]

05. MR MISTER - Kyrie (1 week)

[Classic Americana, albeit a little Greek. Well, Geek. Works]

06. SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK - Love Missile F1-11 (2 weeks)

[i don't mind I enjoyed this, and I still can see the appeal, albeit they never really pushed the tunes/charts

to new places with this, in the end..]

07. CLIFF & YOUNG ONES - Living Doll (1 week)

[Gaaah, no comments]

08. GEORGE MICHAEL - A Different Corner (3 weeks)

[smooth. Too smooth.]

09. HEART - These Dreams (2 weeks)

[Amazing voices. Amazing Tune. And Amazing lyrics. Still love this.]

10. SLY FOX - Let's Go All The Way (1 week)

[so catchy. Must not be mixed up with Ylvis]

11. ERASURE - Oh l'amour (2 weeks)

[unknown band to me, at the time, got a massive start with this smash.]

12. EUROPE - The Final Countdown (2 weeks)

[As a Swede, it was everywhere for months. Cannot enjoy it to this date. But 2 weeks at the top seems about right,

without a place to hide...]

13. DOUBLE FANTASY - Confession Time (2 weeks)

[Don't ask, don't tell.. I have NO idea about this one, and I struggle for words as I listen to it, pretty much like the "singers"...

Oh that's cruel. I obviously loved it enough to let it stay on at #1 for two weeks. It certainly had the benefit of overtaking

The Final Countdown, for one]

14. WHAM! - The Edge of Heaven (2 weeks)

[Yeah, they were good. Well deserved]

15. MADONNA - Papa Don't Preach (2 weeks)

[staple 80's. No shame now]

16. UB40 - Sing Our Own Song (2 weeks)

[i really miss a UB40 band of the '10s. I adored them then, I adore them now.]

17. WHAM! - I'm Your Man (2 weeks)

[Yeah, Wham! could do no wrong at this point...]

18. ANITA DOBSON - Anyone Can Fall In Love (2 weeks)

[Remember, I was living in Sweden at this point, and probably wore nappies.. well, mostly for fun (not true)..

but I appreciate this tune somehow, and having it embedded in my brains ever since I started watching East Enders, it's a-OK, I think...]

19. BERLIN - Take My Breath Away (1 week)

[Yeah, was hard not to have this at #1 at some point I guess, but had it been released today,

I don't think I would have given it a second chance.. it's a tad predictable and boombastic, somehow]

20. CYNDI LAUPER - True Colors (2 weeks)

[Class act. Apart from "Time After Time" the best songs she's ever written. OMG.]

21. ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVRES IN THE DARK- (Forever) Live And Die (2 weeks)

24. AGNETHA & OLA - The Way You Are (1 week)

[some of it I still like, but not an awful lot]

25. SOUND OF MUSIC - Love Me Or Leave Me (3 weeks)

[Wooohooo.. This really is great. Especially when you know that Nanne moved on to become one of the best

Melodifestivalen artists ever. As for stealing the other girl's man.. well, I'd like to think the title of this track

was written for this purpose]

26. DR & THE MEDICS - Waterloo (1 week)

[Yeah, a good version. But #1? nah]

27. BON JOVI - Livin' On A Prayer (1 week)

[Yeah, it's okay, and it's a classic, but... I get this nagging feeling,

I wanted to like it more than I actually did. Probably the opposite

of everyone else]

28. VISITORS - All Of Your Attention (2 weeks)

[Yay, this was great then, and I still get it. And it has mine, everytime I hear it (not often).]
