May 1, 201114 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles Three weeks of rockin' at No.1 with LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem", as the song retains its lead over Snoop Dogg's "Sweat" which holds at No.2 also for a third week. And whilst last weeks Top 5 didn't move at all, this week 3 to 5 all move around with Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" moving up two places to a new peak of No.3 to become his highest SOLO chart entry, whilst his highest collaborative appearance was the former No.1 with Jennifer Lopez for her track "On the Floor", which is down a place to No.5 this week, and we also see Jessie J's "Price Tag" drop down a place to No.4 after three weeks at No.3. Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" had already spent five weeks in the Top 10 and reached No.7. Last week it re-entered the Top 10 and now this week it climbs three places to a new peak of No.6 in its seventh week in said Top 10. And with Chris Brown touring here recently, his latest single "Beautiful People" also climbs to a new peak, up three places to No.7. Britney holds her No.8 peak with "Till the World Ends", The Black Eyed Peas spend a twelfth week in the Top 10, dropping down two places to No.9, and scoring his fourth Top 10 entry (from 10 chart appearances) is Flo Rida, who climbs two places to No.10 with "Who Dat Girl", plus it’s also the third similar title to hit the Top 10 this year, as we had Guy Sebastian’s former No.1 from January “Who’s That Girl”, and David Guetta and Rihanna teamed up for the No.7 single “Who’s That Chick”. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Rihanna's "California King Bed" and Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" both climb two places each to No.16 and No.17 respectively. Wynter Gordon's second chart hit is up three places to No.21, and up two places to re-peak at No.24 is Wiz Khalifa with "Black and Yellow". Marvin Priest jumps eight places to No.32 with his debut single "Own This Club", and scoring his second Top 40 hit is Mike Posner who climbs two places to No.40 with "Bow Chicka Wow Wow". There are only three entries to the Top 100 this week, all within the Top 50, and first up is Beyonce at No.12 with "Run the World (Girls)", the lead single from her (as yet) untitled forthcoming fourth album. It’s her new female empowerment song similar to her previous tracks "Independent Women" (HP-3, Dec 2000) and "Single Ladies" (HP-5, Dec 2008), and it features a sample of "Pon de Floor" by Major Lazor (2009), and has had similar high debuts this past week in Ireland (No.11), England (No.18) and in its second week its up to No.8 in The Netherlands. The second single from Avril Lavigne's fourth album "Goodbye Lullaby" (TW-24) enters at No.42 entitled "Smile", and is the followup to "What the Hell" which is at No.39 this week. The third single from local dance troupe Justice Crew is entitled "Dance with Me" and features guest vocals by Flo Rida. Their second single "Friday to Sunday" achieved Platinum status and climbed to No.18, and falls out of the Top 50 to No.53 this week. Lower 50: Moving up eight spots to No.57 to score her second highest charting single are Selena Gomez & The Scene with "Who Says", her best effort so far has been the No.46 single "Naturally" (peaked Feb. 2010). With Chris Brown hitting a new peak in the Top 10 with his third single from "F.A.M.E.", his second single also scores a new peak; "Look at Me Now" is up six places to No.64. Skrillex is up four places to a new peak of No.70 with "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites", and as it re-entered last week at No.92, LMFAO's former No.82 single (peaked May 2010) "Shots" scores a new peak of No.81 this week, helped by their current No.1 single. There are no new entries to the lower 50 this week, but the Nova network did a national broadcast of the Top 500 iTunes hits over the Easter/Anzac five day long weekend, and coming in at No.1 was The Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling", which rebounds up the charts this week from No.96 to No.80 in it's 99th week in the Top 100. No.3 in the list was "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha which is up seven places to No.88, and re-entering the Top 100 at No.93 is "California Girls" (No.12 in the T500), "OMG" by Usher is back in at No.98 (No.10 in the T500) and back in at No.100 is "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys (No.18 in the list). Albums Adele makes Australia the twelfth country to give her "21" album a No.1 position, as it climbs up a place to land at the top of the ARIA Album Charts upon it's 14th week in the chart, having dipped no lower than No.12 back in late March. Her first album "19" also hits a new peak this week as it climbs up fourteen places to No.30. Adele becomes only the fourth solo English Female artist to reach No.1 here in Australia, the previous three were Dido, Leona Lewis and Lily Allen, Lily being the last British Female single to hit the top with “It’s Not Me, It’s You” (Feb 2009). Adele also scores the 87th No.1 by a Female Artist, and the 61st English Performer with the 125th English performed album to reach No.1 here (1965-2011). We have also had numbers in the twenties at No.1 before, but a “21”. Creedence hit No.1 in 1980 with “20 Golden Greats”, Cliff Richard in 1983 with “25 Years of Gold”, and the following year Cold Chisel’s “Twentieth Century” went to No.1, and Midnight Oil took their Greatest Hits collection “20,000 Watt RSL” to No.1 in 1997. Another British act scores the highest new entry of the week by debuting at No.2, its The Wombats with their second album "This Modern Glitch", outshining their debut album "A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation" which climbed to No.35 (peak March 2008), and is sitting at No.95 this week. Second single from this new album "Jump into the Fog" is up sixteen places to No.78, and first single "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) made it to No.33 in October of 2010. After two weeks at No.1, The Foo Fighters drop back two places to No.3 with "Wasting Light", now their second longest running No.1 album behind “In Your Honour”, which spent five weeks at the top. Holding at No.4 and No.5 respectively are Bruno Mars with "Doo-Wops and Hooligans" and Damien Leith with "Roy". Last weeks highest debut "Rrakala" by Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu drops down four places to No.7, and current tourist Justin Bieber sees his "My Worlds" album down a spot to No.8 this week. Rounding out the Top 10 at No.9 and No.10 are Ronan Keating with "When Ronan Met Burt" (nine) and k.d. Lang's "Sing it Loud" (ten). The second Top 10 debut this week is the eighth Glee Cast album, but this time it's from the show's other Gleesters, The Warblers. The all-male choir was the Glee gang’s closest rivals, and their weekly additions to the show helped it score many entries this year like their versions of “Silly Love Songs” (HP-55), "Teenage Dream" (HP-24), "Raise Your Glass" (HP-30) and The Beatles track "Blackbird" (HP-58). NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Ahead of her Australian tour, Katy Perry's two albums both move up the charts this week, with "Teenage Dream" up six places to No.17, and her first set "One of the Boys" re-entering the Top 50 at No.41. Ahead of Mothers Day here in Australia, some mum-specific-titles jump up this week, with the new collection of hits for Roy Orbison "The Monument Singles Collection" is up twenty-five places to No.28 this week. Up twenty-three places to No.34 is the new set for Andre Rieu "Moonlight Serenade", and Paul Simon's "So Beautiful or So What" enters the Top 50 at No.44 (up twelve places from last week). Lower 50: With “Tron: Legacy” now out on DVD and Blu-Ray, the soundtrack re-enters at No.64 this week, with the reconfigured edition sitting at No.99 this week. The compilation album “When I First Met Your Ma”, a collection of new recordings of old songs about mothers from Australian artists, including Paul Kelly, Oh Mercy, Julia Stone, Gin Wigmore, Washington, Troy Cassar-Daley and The John Butler Trio. The tenth album for Alison Krass, this the sixth with her backing band Union Station, debuts at No.82 entitled “Paper Airplane”, the album landed at No.3 first week on the Billboard T200 Album Chart, and No.1 on their Country and No.1 on their Bluegrass album charts. Alison’s only previous chart entry was on the Grammy Award winning “Raising Sand” (HP-65, Nov 2007), a collaboration with Robert Plant. And another future Mother’s Day collection which should charge up the charts next week enters at No.87, “Best of David Hobson”.
