Posted May 7, 201114 yr http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...n-X-Factor.html Ok people, that was for me with Take That - i very much regret that i bought the Tour Tickets now. I understand that they need to sing at X factor because there is little to none proper TV programm to present a new single. Bud Judge? Oh dear.... This is worse than Mark doing CBB. :puke2:
May 7, 201114 yr he'll be a great judge on x factor. last time he mentored the contestants back in 2008 he was by far the one who offered them the best advice. all they need now is lily allen and then once simon cowell becomes the fifth judge during the latter part of the live shows it'll be bloody good! im just glad cheryl is gone...tho im sure we'll see her next year when Fox dumps her lol
May 7, 201114 yr Author I have no respect for NONE of the judges, in UK or Germany or anywhere. It is made to sell cheap dreams, none of the acts really developed, it is only to make money back of the gullible people and has nothing to do with quality music. This is way i am beyond dissapointed of Gary taking this job. He has enough money, so he make this only for the media buhuhuuu, to get attention and to be more adored (IMO). But with quality, serious musician this has nothing to do! I don't care how great he would be as a judge, as he must also play by the rules and is all fixed, so it brings nothing to be a "great judge". He will play piano, built his solo carrier further, he will love the attention and distroy any rest of sympathy for Take That at genuine people who likes music and not shows and drama a la X factor. The x facor is not about new musiacins, but only about the judges. How cheap of you, Mr Barlow, how cheap of you! Look what they did to Leona, she was such a genuine voice and personality and now she look lika a h... . :puke2: Two year shelf live at the best...
May 7, 201114 yr Author I bet: - that Mr. Barlow will appear every single week as a master of piano - that the winner song will be written and / or produced by Mr Barlow - eventually one or more of the acts will be taken by Mr Barlow music company - that Mr. Barlow will release in Christmas time or Mother Day time next year a solo album - that the other acts from his firma will sing as guests on X Factor Does anyone want to bet against?
May 7, 201114 yr I think I agree with everything Iris has said. I can't understand it. Sure - Gary knows more about music than Simon Cowell - but XF is not about music anyway - its an entertainment show for heaven's sake. Now that Cowell has left - the entertainment is GONE! I think Barlow is extremely stupid to do this (and for me - is further evidence of his narcissism). Judas Priest! People usually JUMP a sinking ship! Not JUMP ONTO it! And er ... Gary ... what happened to your 'National Singing Competition' that you so proudly boasted of in April 2010? Probably not enough self-coverage in it. Kath
May 7, 201114 yr I like gary and has always been my favourite member of take that, and i also loved his solo work, but im not convinced by him as an x factor judge, i agree about gary knowing more about music than simon cowell but x factor isnt always about the music, if it was the winners song would at least be an original song, gary as an x factor judge will either sink him totally or his career will bolster. What kind of contradictswhat he has said in the past was when take that reformed it was about doing a limited amount of work so he could still have time with his family etc, if take that continue and mix that with his x factor role he wont have much free time. That said i will hold back judgement until i see him on the show and see what he is like, it will be interesting to see how honest he will be with the really bad acts, however for the good acts he will be great as he knows the business and can give good advice, overall i wish him well i dont have huge issues with him doing it although i would prefer he put his time into take that instead. May 7, 201114 yr I'd just remembered that I was a member on this forum, and hadn't had a look over here in years! I wasn't sure about this when it first started circulating around that he might be doing it. I can't stand the show and what it's become. I used to like it back in the Will Young Pop Idol days, but it's become a bit of a soap opera, and that's just the judges. Who knows, maybe he'll bring a bit of dignity and relevance back to the show. It's a heck of a compliment really if you think about it. Simon is a worldwide success, seen as an elite music guru, so for Gary to be the choice to take his place, then that really is something. If it's true, I just hope it works out!

May 8, 201114 yr Ria I'm pretty certain they only asked Gary because Robbie had already turned them down. Kath I would disagree here, not because im not robbies biggest fan, robbie is never best at given constructive answers on tv, anytime he has spoken n x factor its been jibberish, on a talent basis gary far more fits the bill than robbie and from that aspect gary is far more qualified for the job, also the fact gary has wrote songs for others and coached other acts puts him in a far stornger position than robbie, on a popularity basis robbie may be ahead of gary but not nearly as much as he used to be and also would robbie be the most reliable person as a judge?? im thinking not. And Ria, welcome back and great to see you here. Edited May 8, 201114 yr by Aphrodite

May 8, 201114 yr Was he simons first choice though? i doubt it and i also doubt he will release a solo album again on the back of the x factor. he's already been there and got the t shirt so even if his popularity soars i think we can expect that he will continue to focus on take that. it would be interesting if he wrote the winners single but again i doubt it purely because 1) they prefer to cover an established song instead of an original and 2) since last year the finalists were given a choice of what song they would want to release as their winners single and im sure that will be the same this year. there has been no official announcement of gary taking the judging role at the moment so until then im going to take the media speculation with a pinch of salt..
May 8, 201114 yr Ya im the same as there is nothing offical about gary been confirmed as a judge, for all we know it might be all tabloid fodder.
May 8, 201114 yr Author If it is something in TheSun about Gary, than the information is with 95% probability right . I suspect he is very good pal with the Bizzare typ ...
May 9, 201114 yr Was reading on RTE news teletext that Simon Cowell has confirmed Gary is going to be a judge and that auditions have been changed to ensure gary can fulfill all his commitments to take thats tour.
May 10, 201114 yr Simon Cowell confirms Gary Barlow for 'X Factor' Monday, May 9 2011, 11:09 BST Simon Cowell has announced that Gary Barlow will be a judge on The X Factor. The show boss revealed the news when he arrived at the Galen Centre in Los Angeles for auditions on the US version of the singing competition. According to various reports, Cowell said: "Gary Barlow is the first person confirmed." He apparently refused to confirm that Barlow would replace Cheryl Cole, who last week was added to the panel of the US show. There has been no official confirmation of Cowell's statement. Barlow was reported to have finalised a deal over the weekend. It was suggested that Dannii Minogue has not yet signed a deal to return to the programme, but that Louis Walsh will definitely be back.
May 10, 201114 yr Oooh there were lots of answers to reply to there, but on the whole I agree with Aphrodite. I don't think Robbie was the first choice. I'd read lot's of bits here and there when the rumours were flying around that Robbie wasn't reliable enough. He's also slagged off the show and it's contestants in the past. He's hardly going to be a good role model for it. You've got 2 opposite ends of the scale, you've got the music maestro, who knows his stuff but doesnt necessarily have the glitz and glamour but has the undeniable craft to an outstanding degree (I may be biased! lol!) and then you've got the ultimate showman, who knows what it is to be a pop icon. Maybe, because the X Factor has become as 'frilly' as celebrity is now, robbie would be a good choice. If it's genuine talent you're after, then Gary's your man. That's why I can't really make up my mind as to whether this is a good move for Gary or not. I hope some of that made sense! Thanks for the welcome back peeps xx

May 18, 201114 yr http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...dging-role.html I sort of agree with the comment from someone - 'if it isn't about the money ... why did they have to move heaven and earth to get him'. I really wish people would be honest - money DOES play a huge part in anything. Its a job - you should aim for the highest pay cheque and Gary's done it - negotiated a good wage packet. Personally I don't think its enough money for the potential ridicule and blame when the viewing figures start to drop and you're going to be the main one taking the blame for it. I just wish they'd stop making Gary out to be a saint who's doing it for the potential 'talent' when like almost everyone else in the world - he's doing it for the money. Another thing - I really don't think he showed good mentoring / guidance skills to one of his present 'proteges' Camilla Kerslake by letting her appear on that awful Saturday Night Turd of a Show - Sing If You Can. Kath Are always making him out to be a saint? His name has taken a serious beating on twitter since the news came out. It's not all positive and one sided. So there should be people willing to see the good in him just as there are obviously loads of people who see the bad. I think that yes, hes negotiated a high wage for himself, of course he has, but why is that necessarily a bad thing. However, I personally believe the main reason for him doing it is to find talent, I genuinely think he believes in it. Im sorry I know I always champion Gary, but that's just me Im afraid, I think the dude is fantastic...I probably wouldn't have said that 15 years ago though.
