The press are jumping on the bandwagon as there was a week strictly come dancing beat x factor in the ratings, that particular week strictly come dancing had higher than usual ratings so they compared both shows, what the press failed to mention was the following week strickly dropped over 2 million viwers and x factor once again was the most watched show. The whole ratings crisis i think could be used by x factor itself to drum publicity etc...but the ratings are as good as ever so there is no crisis at all.

I just dont get the Marcus hype, while i can see why people do like him he does nothing for me, Misha good singer etc but has the personality of a frying pan, i think misha at a push stands the best chance of a career but from what i have seen so far there is nobody on the show who i would rush out and buy an album from as it stands, on saying that whoever does end up releasiung albums and if i like the music i would buy the album.. I agree about Janet i think she will release one or 2 singles and an album but will fade quickly, she is very much like diana vickers although i much prefer diana to janet,

I would LOVE Dannii to return but i think its 99.9% certain that wont happen, Tulisa has grown on me, to be honest i would sacrifice any of the judges for a dannii return but given the choice i would get rid of Louis. Louis needs x factor though as he doesnt have much else goin on as he only manages Jedward now.

I think Gary will return next year although i wouldnt be certain of it, Gary and Kelly seem to get on very well and back each other up so that could result in them working together along the way somewhere aswell in the future. Before x factor i never really seen kelly rowland do interviews or speak etc and in my head i always thought she was the shy type, how wrong was I!! I do like her though.

Are you actually for real  You think Frankie was placed in there by Gary to boost ratings and provide a shock half way through whilst also getting OFCOM involved due to his antics....I know there's reading into things but wow Kath, if I need any help with conspiracy theories Im coming straight to you!

No - Frankie was placed in there by the producers - Gary and the others have just played along with it.

I can't believe you for being so foolish as to believe that the whole thing wasn't scripted. How convenient to have four possible substitutes waiting in the wings? And WTH do you think people were voting for Amelia to win even BEFORE Frankie's performance last Saturday - let alone before he was followed the script axed ?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist - those guys did land on the moon, Diana's death was just a tragic accident, etc, etc. It isn't theory with Simon Cowell - and it isn't rocket science - its just knowing the games he plays.

If we assume it was a set up it is my belief the 4 axed contestants that are potentially returning to the show and Frankie himself would suspect something was not right and would throw a spanner in the works. Kath you seem extremely cynical about the show and that everything is set and fixed.

Not in the same context that you would like it to be Kath. His words and Alex's meaning were clearly taken out of context here to sell the story. Surely you must see that
And Simon was always gona say that regardless if the show managed to double the ratings etc, i agree its easy to take what simon said completly out of context.

Simon is the type of tongue and cheek charctor who undulges in guff and self praise, he likes to compliment himself and believe he is the best man on the planet again in tongue and cheek style. This article refelcts that, and i believe it is extremely clear to see he said it in a tongue and cheek style and not in a serious context.

If Simon had said Gary is fantastic and is better than himself, would you also believe that statement Kath????

Of course Kath wouldn't! Anything that paints Gary in any sort of postive light is all made up and all the stuff that says anything negative is automatically true! Come on Pippa you must know that by now

You proceed from a false presumption oh dear little one!

I don't reckon Simon at all as a judge/mentor himself - I DO reckon him as being quite entertaining on the show himself. His put-downs were always very, very tongue in cheek - and the audience knew they were tongue-in-cheek. Simon didn't even take his own show seriously (I mean each episode - not the franchise itself) and so you knew his ribbing was never cruel. Even Simon's self-love as you'd call it - could be seen as tongue-in-cheek. But Gary's is so bloody real - the guy loves himself. If he were a gingerbread-man ... he'd eat himself! Gary DOES take it seriouly - so his nasty comments do come across as just that - plain nasty with no funny, redeeming features at all.

Gary is just plain hopeless as a judge and mentor - and as much as I didn't want him to take the gig in the first place - I did in my heart of hearts think he'd be good and an asset - but he just isn't.

Alot of exaggerating there from you Kath, unless you personally know the guy you cant make assumptions on what you want to believe. There is no way that he is a useless judge, he is one of the best the XF has ever had. There is no way he is a useless mentor as he puts in more time than any of the judges from any series to date. He is with them for hours a day and is always on the phone to them and advising them. He is without doubt the best mentor and puts the most time in than anyone on the show. That is without a shadow of a doubt

Dont get me wrong, i wont go as far to say gary is the best mentor the show has ever had, only time will tell by the end of the series and after it finishes aswell, but i still believe he is a good mentor. For me i think he proved that by helping out Kellys acts aswell when she was sick...that shows his compassionate side and before anyone says it gary did not gloat about that nor did he mention it, it was kellys acts who spoke kindly of him and said how helpful he was to them that week in particular.

I would also like to add, while i dont agree with your comments kath that gary is a useless judge, i do appreciate you are more than entitled to your opinion and beliefs, however i dont think there is enough evidence to suggest he is a useless judge. I know the frankie arguement can be used to a point but gary cant be all to blame for that and its here i at time find your opinions contradictive as you say the judges do what there told, the show is scripted etc well if that is the case that would suggest gary can in no way to be blamed for Frankie.

My opinion on Frankie is he was always gona do what he wanted to do to a certain degree, he seems like one of those guys. As a mentor gary can only do so much....i see this whole frankie thing as totally his own fault and no one elses,,the drugs were part of his life before the show and will probably continue to be after the judge. As a parent i try my best to guide my daughter, give her advice and keep her on the straight and narrow but when the day comes when she starts going out to pubs, disco;s etc i cant be in control of everything and i think that is what has happened with Frankie. People after a certain age have to be responsible for their own actions and to be fair to frankie even though i dont like him he is blaming no one but himself....frankie was probably one of those contestants that would have needed 24 hr watching. monitoring etc but on a show like x factor that is not possible as it would be unfair to the other acts. Gary had 3 acts in his category and each has to be given their own fair share of time so of course there was times frankie could do what he wanted and we clearly know he did that.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has reportedly been having harsh words with the current panel, calling them “pathetic” and a “laughing stock”… apart from Gary Barlow that is, who is doing an alright job, apparently.

Star magazine quote the Syco chief ranting at the panel last week: “You’re all pathetic!

“You have become a laughing stock. It has to stop right now!”

The music mogul had some tough words of advice for three of the judges, with only Take That star Gary getting away scot-free.

“In Simon’s eyes, the only judge who has done nothing wrong is Gary [barlow],” a source told the magazine. “The others, he says, are being childish. It’s only their first year together, and yet the show is in chaos like never before.

“He’s still considering mixing it up by getting the judges to swap categories which is making the girls furious, but it’s his choice – The X Factor is still his baby. He’s very proud of it and is angry they are ruining it. It reflects badly on him.”

I would almost all of this is taking out of context by some journalist. I think though its gona be interesting to see how x factor next year is handled.
