May 15, 201114 yr Well, Slovakia's a near certainty, and I think Poland and Hungary may join them. I also heard that one of the Baltics was having financial problems before this contest (can't remember which), so I imagine one of them at least will go, after their poor results this year. I think San Marino will probably stay; I think I remember one of their delegation saying such, and since Italy will probably be staying, they may too.
May 15, 201114 yr I think Latvia & Lithuania have both definately stated financial problems in the past. In that case, considering the results this year and recent years, I think Latvia will sit out, but Lithuania may stay if they can afford it.
May 15, 201114 yr I think Armenia will almost certainly sit it out. Which is a shame because I have liked every song of theirs, no to much this year but it was ok IMO.
May 16, 201114 yr An official from SMRTV said that both Italy and San Marino are planning on returning in 2012 but no official word from either station. Netherlands and belgium are both staying and theres word that the Czech Republic are planing on returning.
May 17, 201114 yr Romania are apparently considering withdrawal, due to financial reasons. (http://www.agentiadepresamondena.com/roman...-la-eurovision/)
May 17, 201114 yr Czech Republic have officially returned :) It's in progress - no result yet. No one knows yet since almost no one is interested in the ESC here.
May 17, 201114 yr Romania? Wouldn't have expected that, they've always made the final, a 3rd place last year and even this year they did better than 2008 & 2009. Guess you can't help it if it's down to financial problems, but they could always do an internal selection and save money by not having to stage a national final?
June 11, 201114 yr Surprisingly, Slovakia have been confirmed for 2012 along with Czech Republic as stated on an Azeri Eurovision website :)
June 12, 201114 yr Surprisingly, Slovakia have been confirmed for 2012 along with Czech Republic as stated on an Azeri Eurovision website :) As far as I know nothing has been confirmed according to Czech & Slovak sources yet :)
June 13, 201114 yr I wish we (Netherlands) would withdraw. Our abysmal submissions are totally embarrassing. It gets worse every year. Edited June 13, 201114 yr by XXXO
June 13, 201114 yr I disagree, the Netherlands has sent some great songs, but they're all very Dutch, it seems hard for them to find someone with international appeal. Anyway I'm very glad I was wrong about Italy  I wish Russia would withdraw frankly, 16th place must be like nul points to them.
June 13, 201114 yr I can see Poland opting out next year, they have probably spend their resources on staging the European Championship
June 13, 201114 yr I can see Poland opting out next year, they have probably spend their resources on staging the European Championship Funnily enough the sectors responsible for spending money on Eurovision entries and the sectors responsible for spending money on football hosting are...quite different. It costs about £100,000 at most for a country like Poland to enter anyway, so it's hardly a massive burden.
June 13, 201114 yr I wish Russia would withdraw frankly, 16th place must be like nul points to them. Why would they withdraw when they know they came 7th on the public vote?
June 13, 201114 yr Well point taken, but if Alex was the best they've got then unless they send Hurts next year they haven't got a cat in hell's chance of winning.
June 13, 201114 yr They've proved many times that they've got a lot better than Alex, they were the absolute dominant force during the 00s! I still think that with a GREAT song, Russia will always be the ones to beat, if only because they've got at least top ten in the televote secured whatever happens. Get juries onside and they'll fly.

This. Are we REALLY asking if Russia are capable of winning, seriously? (For the record, I don't think Hurts would win either. Top five probably.)
