May 15, 201114 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles "Party Rock Anthem" from LMFAO is now the equal longest running No.1 of 2011 (with "S&M" by Rihanna) at five weeks atop the ARIA Singles Chart. But another party song is now knocking at the door, up one place to a new peak of No.2 is Pitbull and his ensemble with "Give Me Everything", pushing Jessie J's "Price Tag" back down to No.3 again (now its sixth appearance at #3). And once again the Top 5 remain within said top five, as "Sweat" from Snoop Dogg and David Guetta, and Jennifer Lopez and Pitbulls with "On the Floor" remain at No.4 and No.5 respectively. Breaking into the Top 10 in its second week within the Top 100 is the new single for David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida entitled "Where Them Girls at". It leaps twenty-eight places from its debut position last week of No.34 to No.6 this week, and also gives Flo Rida his sixth Top 10 entry, as only two weeks ago he reached No.10 with his fifth "Who Dat Girl" (TW-12), plus this also becomes the fourth song this year to pose a question about girls (Who's That Girl, Who's That Chick, and Who Dat Girl). "Where Them Girls at" also becomes David Guetta's eighth Top 10 appearance, one of which he is currently in at the moment, "Sweat" with Snoop Dogg, and finally this track becomes Nicki Minaj's first Top 10 appearance, having previously gone no higher than No.21 as guest vocalist on Will.I.am's "Check it Out" (No.21, Oct 2010). Adele climbs one place higher to a new peak of No.7 with "Rolling in the Deep", and also scoring a new peak, plus his first Top 10 entry, is Marvin Priest, who climbs three places to No.9 with "Own This Club". He has two more Top 10's to go to match his father's (Maxi Priest) tally of three Top 10 hits. Bruno Mars slips a laid-back two places to No.8 with "The Lazy Song", and after debuting at No.7 last week, local act DJ Havana Brown slips down three places to land at No.10 this week with "We Run the Night". Scoring the highest new entry (like she did four weeks ago) is Lady Gaga with the new track from her forthcoming May 23rd released second album "Born This Way", entitled "The Edge of Glory", landing first week in the charts at No.11. And with her 'Monster Ball Tour' being shown on Channel 11 last weekend, it has helped ALL of her current charting material to fly back up the charts. "Judas" halves itself this week, jumping back up thirteen places to No.13, and "Born This Way" also re-enters the Top 20, up eight places to No.17 this week. Plus her album "The Fame Monster" leaps a massive forty-six places to No.34 this week. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Nicole Sherzinger is taking small steps up the charts with "Don't Hold Your Breath", this week its up one place to a new peak of No.18. But making a huge leap of fifty-two places is recent visitor to our shores Jessie J, whose new single "Nobody's Perfect" has been smeared across the radio waves this past week, and lands at No.24 in its second week in the Top 100. Good Charlotte has been slipping back down the charts with "Last Night", but it rebounds to a new peak of No.27 this week, and up eight places to a new peak of No.28 is We the Kings with "Check Yes Juliet (Run Baby Run)", which had initial help from ths film 'Gnomeo and Juliet', and is now being used as the promo song during the new Australian series of ‘The Amazing Race’. In its third week within the top 100, Avril Lavigne's new single "Smile" scores a new peak of No.30, and Adele's other charting single "Someone Like You" is up again this week, landing at No.32. Lastly, Jennifer Lopez re-enters the Top 100 this week at No.47 with her "Love?" albums second single "I'm into You", which fell out last week of the Top 100, having previously peaked at No.56, and now that radio has picked it up, it returns this week to the chart. The fourth single from Enrique Iglesias' ninth album "Euphoria" (TW-87) debuts at No.36 entitled "Dirty Dancer", and features guest vocals by Usher and Lil' Wayne. The "Euphoria" album was re-issued on the 29th of April as an eighteen track extended edition (original LP had 14 songs) with remixes and bonus material. Enrique also re-enters at No.93 with his only No.1 single here "Hero", the second re-entry for this track, it came back in July 2010 hitting No.68 that time around. Two places lower at No.38 is the new single for the last Australian Idol winner, Stan Walker entitled "Loud". This becomes Stan's fourth charted single and also fourth Top 40 entry, having previously charted with "Black Box" (HP-2, Dec 2009), "Unbroken" (HP-23, June 2010) and "Choose You" (HP-16 August 2010). This is the first taste of new material from his forthcoming (as yet) untitled third album. Lower 50: Helped by massive airplay is the new Wombats single "Techno Fan", which is up thirty-five places to No.54 this week. The Sick Puppies climb a place to a new peak of No.62 with "Maybe", and finally down to its lowest placing (and you can't get much lower), at No.100 is The Black Eyed Peas track "I Gotta Feeling", now in it's 101st week in the Top 100, now the second longest running Top 100 ARIA Singles Chart (1988-2011) behind Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face” (104 weeks). Simple Plan are due to release their fourth album "Get Your Heart On!" in mid-June, and the first taste from that album debuts at No.52 entitled "Jet Lag", and features the guest vocals of Natasha Bedingfield. This is the groups first new material in three years, and their eleventh charting single here in Australia. It’s also Natasha's sixth chart appearance here, having last charted in 2009 on Chicane’s physical only charting single “Bruised Water” (HP-25) Sydney five-piece band Boy & Bear score their third ARIA Singles Chart entry by debuting at No.59 with "Feeding Line". Another Sydney act, this time the duo of Tonite Only, score their first Top 100 singles chart entry at No.99 with the dance track "We Run the Nite". The dance track "Barbra Streisand" re-enters at No.61 this week, helped by its use in a Glee impromtu-dance on one of their upcoming episodes, and the Glee gang are back on our screens, so they also enter the charts with new (?) material this week. In at No.62 is "I Feel Pretty"/"Unpretty" which is a mash-up of the West Side Story song and TLC's 1999 No.3 single. Last weeks episode was called 'Born This Way', and the Lady GaGa track covered by the Glee gang enters at No.76. James Blunt scores an new entry with the second release from his "Some Kind of Trouble" album (TW-23, up from 34), coming in at No.64 is "If This is All I Have". And another British singer, Adele, lands a third chart entry from her current No.1 album "21", coming in at No.81 is "Turning Tables". Albums For a third week, Adele is holding the top spot on the ARIA Album Chart with "21", whilst her first album again scores a new peak, "19" is up ten places to No.27. And as Mothers Day here in Australia fell in the middle of a chart-cycle, many of the mother-favored albums rise or hold their chart placings from last week, thus is the case with Damien Leith's "Roy" album, which is at No.2 for a second week. This is also why Ronan Keatings new album "When Ronan Met Burt" jumps up ten places to a new peak of No.3, and k.d Lang & The Siss Boom Bang climb three places to No.5 with "Sing it Loud", plus we also see Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" reclimb into the Top 10 to No.10 this week. Bruno Mars continues his one-place-at-a-time movement with "Doo-Wops and Holligans", as it drops back to No.4. Down two places each are "Wasting Light" by The Foo Fighters to No.6 and The Wombats with "This Modern Glitch" to No.7, but up two places each are Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" to No.8 and Jennifer Lopez with "Love?", up from No.11 to No.9 to be only her third of seven albums to make it to the Top 10, her last being the No.10 album "Rebirth" from May 2005. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Jessie J's recent promo tour is still having benefits on both the singles and albums chart, as her new track flies into the Top 30, her album also hits a new peak, as "Who You Are" is up five places to No.15. James Blunt also has a new single out (see above), and his "Some Kind of Trouble" album jumps back up eleven places to No.23. The compilation album "When I First Met Your Ma" climbs a place to a new peak of No.28, and David Hobson's Best of collection is also up to a new peak, climbing six spots to No.30 this week. "The Best of…The American Songbook" from Rod Stewart jumps up eight places to No.32, and helped by her recently broadcast concert, Lady Gaga's "The Fame Monster" flies up forty-six places to No.34, whilst Sade's "Ultimate Collection" climbs eight places to land inside the Top 40 at No.37. But the biggest climbing album of the week goes to "The Royal Wedding - The Official Album", which is up a massive fifty-nine places from No.98 to No.39, last weeks figures were from digital sales only, and now that the physical CD is out, people are buying it. The seventh studio album from Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks is the highest new entry of the week, coming in at No.24 is "In Your Dreams", and its her first studio album in almost ten years, whilst her last appearance was with her third Greatest Hits package back in 2007, as you'll see below with her album history here in Australia... Comedian, actor and House M.D. actor Hugh Laurie has played music most of his career as a hobby, and this week his debut blues album "Let Them Talk" enters the ARIA Albums Chart at No.55. Whilst another actor, better known for his singing, Matthew Morrison (teacher Will Schuester from Glee), enters at No.61 with his self-titled debut album. Further down new entries come from US rock band Manchester Orchestra with their fourth album "Simple Math" at No.83, their first album to chart here. And right behind them at No.84 is "The Platinum Collection" for singer Russell Watson, and he last charted in 2006 with another best of, “The Ultimate Collection” (HP-90), July 2006.
