February 6, 201213 yr Author Unlike Glee, the singing was very well integrated into the story and was actually relevant. Like Jack said, there was audition songs and then they have the first song written for the actual musical, which then serves as development to the plot and helps the story unfold. It's done far neater and more seemless than Glee's musical numbers are. If the pilot is anything to go by, it's probably going to very quickly become one of the best shows on broadcast TV. Hopefully Katherine McPhee will get a bit better. Her singing is impeccable, but her acting is the weak spot (she isn't tragic and would be great on a normal show, but in the company of this cast she really is the weak link. With no broadway experience and up against Anjelica Huston and Debra Messing that is)
February 6, 201213 yr Kat's singing is nowhere near strong enough for her to be taken seriously as a Broadway hopeful, especially opposite Megan Hilty who has PIPES. That's my only problem with this show so far.
February 7, 201213 yr The Voice took a 6.6 18-49 last night, Smash a 3.8! I wasn't far off haha. The half-hour breakdowns for Smash were 4.2 and 3.4 so it lost a decent chunk, I'd say maybe a 3.0 next week. Still likely to be NBC's first proper hit drama in ages!
February 7, 201213 yr So happy to see that Smash did well. I really hope it maintains the figures throughout the whole series.
February 7, 201213 yr Very unlikely. It's getting 0.6 in the ratings these days and buzz isn't great. Anything could happen for The CW but that isn't good for a show they promoted so much. Great news for NBC. The chunk that 'Smash' lost isn't great but hopefully those that did stick around will stick around next week too and buzz is mostly very good.
February 7, 201213 yr Ringer is such a deadweight. Hopefully The CW will get rid of it. I know they can do better than that. THE worst show of the 2011-2012 season.
February 7, 201213 yr 'Smash' at a 3.8 managed the 17th highest rated premier for a scripted show this season; NBC's second highest in the 2011-2012. Amongst new shows it ranks as number 6. I doubt NBC will be too displeased :P! CBS Two and A Half Men 10.3 CBS 2 Broke Girls 7.0 ABC Modern Family 6.1 CBS The Big Bang Theory 5.0 CBS How I Met Your Mother 4.9 CBS Mike and Molly 4.8 Fox New Girl 4.8 Fox Napoleon Dynamite 4.4 CBS NCIS 4.3 CBS Rob 4.1 ABC Grey's Anatomy 4.1 CBS Criminal Minds 4.1 Fox Family Guy 4.1 ABC Once Upon A Time 4.0 Fox Glee 4.0 NBC The Office 3.9 NBC Smash 3.8 Fox The Simpsons 3.8 CBS NCIS: LA 3.6 Another note; 'Two and a Half Men' hit a season low of 4.2 last night, meaning 'Modern Family', averaging a 5.5 so far is within 0.1 of claiming the title of the top rated scripted show of the season (for a second season running). However, 'The Big Bang Theory' has out rated both since midseason averaging 5.4, compared to MF's 5.3 and 2.5 Men's quite alarming 4.4! Edited February 7, 201213 yr by xxxxxx
February 7, 201213 yr Author Pleased with 3.8. If it can settle into the 3.0-3.2 zone that would be lovely. As for Ringer, it deserves to be cancelled. I can't believe CBS were ever considering it. It's cheap, nasty, and really dull. I've watched up to the point where her bff is randomly killed then I checked out.
February 7, 201213 yr Author From our discussion a couple of days ago, I bought Suburban Shootout season2 on DVD (already had S1) The bloody Americans need to leave it THE FUCK ALONE.
February 7, 201213 yr Author Picked it up on Amazon for £3.86 with free delivery ^_^ It arrived today, and despite working I have watched the entire thing. Bloody magnificent.
February 7, 201213 yr Author Tell me about it! I only discovered the show after picking Season1 for a couple of quid after ChavvyZavvii went tits up.
February 7, 201213 yr Author No worries! I was surprised I found it so cheap given that it's not exactly a high seller.
February 8, 201213 yr Fairly disastrous ratings for The River's premiere double episode last night, 2.5 and then 2.2. It won't get beyond those 8 episodes.
