TO WAIT FOR CINEMA OR WATCH ONLINE AHH

Nice to see it ranking alongside Tree of Life though  I've watched that online since seeing it in the cinema and it makes you realise just why people pay to see some movies on the big screen.

Screw it I give in. PUTLOCK COME TO ME

Amazing.

Finally watched this last night (online, not in cinema though unfortunately) and really did love it. The storyline's not up to much (particularly in part 1) but the visuals at the beginning and end I could watch for hours!

Charlotte Gainsbourg

I wish there were more of those visuals at the beginning and end.

Just like The Tree of Life I can't stop thinking about it.

I loved it too. This and 'The Tree of Life' are probably my favourite films of the year (and both absolutely gorgeous). I love this time of year when all the quality films start getting released! I need to see 'A Dangerous Method' and 'Shame'!

Ditto. I wish more of my uni mates were interested in going to the cinema though. I only ever seem to go when I'm back home.

Quite literally just watched the trailer for 'Shame'. Looks absolutely fantastic. When's it out here?

Just rewatched this now that I can plug my laptop into a decent TV and that opening sequence is seriously stunning. So many more things made sence with a second viewing too. SO SO good

Not a single nomination in the BAFTA Longlist. Even The Tree of Life only got one for cinematography.

Oh dear! Is that normally a tell-tale sign for the oscars or not? :(

Aye.

I think the whole Cannes controversy would have been a big part of it which is a shame because it shouldn't take away from how good the film was.

Lars von Trier has been snugged for majority of his films so this isn't that much of a surprise. 'Breaking the Waves' and 'Dancer in the Dark' were both largely ignored by the more major award ceremonies despite both being superb. Shame.

The only Oscar nomination Lars von Trier has ever received is in songwriting. Hilarious/depressing.

Aye. Plus Bjork's Oscar snub for Best Actress is still mental to me.

Can't think of how many times I've watched this now. The prologue alone I've exhausted. I've become that desperate to see it in the cinema now that I'm even considering seeing it at the only place it's showing near me which is Shortwave in BERMONDSEY. Shudder.

Still can't believe how f***ed up are people to ignore such a wonderful film cause of something that has nothing to do with the film itself.

Film of the year. From the script to the image!

Can't really add much to what has already been said so I'll just concur that this is a fantastic exercise in mood and subtext
