Probably because Barcelona have spent about 94 transfer windows trying to sign Fabregas for the same amount. Maybe Wenger is testing his theory to make sure he's not the only one to think that way?

Jagielka won't go for any less than £20m I'd have thought. It's all a patience game. I'd imagine this bid will test the waters. If Jagielka wants to move then he'll force a move at the end of the day. You can't keep an unhappy player at a club, although Harry Redknapp seems to be doing this when it will obviously capitulate on the club next season #fail

I couldn't see Tevez and Aguero both being at Man City. They're both two similar players, and the wage bill would be astronomical :/ I don't see Tevez being a Manchester City player come September.

AGUERO TO CITY

Appaz City rumours circulating that Mancini is gonna keep Tevez under his current contract and sell Ballotelli. I do find it amusing how City still have Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Bellamy contracted to their club yet all the speculation remains over their supposed two leading strikers.

I'm shocked and rather pleased at how few players West Ham have sold so far. Been talk of Parker going to Chelsea on a year-long loan which becomes permanent if we don't come straight back up, makes a lot of sense!

I can't see why Parker would want to go to Chelsea though? Imo he could have been an England regular and got even more recognition that he gets if he never went there from Charlton. Bad career move. Chelsea are in need of a creative midfielder, although the move does make sense because they need a defensive midfielder whilst Essien's out injured.

Looks like West Ham want to emulate what Newcastle did.

Joey Barton allowed to leave Newcastle on a free transfer!

The players are at war with the board.

Barton, Carroll and Nolan gone, Jonas looking like he's on his way, can't wait for this season's derbies. If Ameobi and Steven Taylor could both be involved in horrific accidents and lose their legs in time for the new season that would top it all off really.

To be fair they have bought some good players, BUT I'm going to assume they've been told Newcastle will be challenging for Europe this season (bullshit). Why they're letting Barton go on a FREE transfer aswellis beggars belief. I know a lot of players have spoken out so far on Twitter about the board. Not good news for Newcastle. Enrique will DEFINITELY be on his way aswell. Whether it is to Liverpool or Arsenal I do not know though!

To be fair they've brought in a bunch of young foreign players who will have no idea what will have hit them when they walk out at the SoL in a few weeks. Part of our problem in the derbies last season was youth/inexperience/naivity, and at least our young players were (For the most part) English. Honestly cannot wait.

And they're letting Barton go because he's outspoken. They won't tolerate anybody speaking out about the board, that's why Hughton went and they brought in Alan "Yes man" Pardew.

The Barton saga farce rumbles on..

He's now been banned from ever training with the club again and fined 2 weeks wages for a comment made on Twitter. Oh dear

United bid for Sneijder accepted apparently :o

They'll definitely end up getting him. Shame as he'll be very good for you! Inter obviously want Tevez. I guess the ball is currently in Man City's court to see whether they want straight cash, or either Maicon/Eto'o + plus cash for him.

Rumours circulating that Liverpool are going to be giving Newcastle Joe Cole as part of the Enrique deal (has weight as he didn't travel on the tour to Norway). Please let this be true. Two huge birds with one small stone!

God help Newcastle if this deal comes off. They're definitely getting screwed right over if it happens.

Here's hoping.

Rumours surfacing that Malbranque's on his way. He's a fans' favourite but tbh it really wouldn't be a great loss; it would lower the wage bill (He's rumoured to be our highest earner), and free up some cash to try and sort out our appalling left hand side (Or lack thereof). As much as I like Steed he has no end product and is clearly on his last legs.

I wonder if Bruce will finally bring in a recognised left back if this goes ahead. Anything's better than Richardson/Bardsley playing there. I also hope he isn't going to be playing Colback out on the left wing, he'd be wasted there and it wouldn't solve anything.

Enrique coming to Liverpool seems likely, but I really doubt Cole would go to Newcastle .. Has been linked with a loan move to QPR though

He's talked about how he wants to fight for a place in the first team, but I just can't see it happening for him at Liverpool

Kenny gave him 5 - 10 minute run out's last season and that was before we'd signed Adam, Henderson and Downing.. so he'll have even more competition next season

The Joey Barton saga is quite amusing. I love how Sky Sports News use his tweets as some sort of Breaking News

Enrique will be brilliant if he comes to Liverpool, I hope. He's by far and away Newcastle's best player. In the Championship season when Newcastle got promoted Nolan scored 19 goals, Carroll scored 18, but Enrique was voted Fans' Player of the Year. I've only ever seen him play a few times, but the one thing that I've seen of his game is his reluctance to use his right foot. Reminds me a bit of Patrick Berger lol.

And Cole's useless. He's still got bundles of class, but his fitness is attrocious. He can barely last 45 minutes, let alone 90. He's finished as a top class athlete. He must have been jizzing in his own pants whe n he recieved a £5m singing-on fee at Liverpool and 90k a week. The old regime at Liverpool really were a bunch of clueless muppets.

Yep they really were useless, which is why Jovanovic is now rumoured to be leaving with a £2.5m pay off from the club

Enrique will be a very good addition. Aurelio is brilliant when fit, but unfortunately always injured.. & Insua and Robinson aren't good enough to be first choice

Steed off to France, Nosworthy and McCartney rumoured to be leaving. Will be good to get shot of them, would free up an unreal amount of wages.

Sky reckons we're after Sean Wright-Phillips, the fun just never ends at Sunderland AFC.

I'd avoid SWP like the plague. His career has really stagnated and he's not that good. I'm sure I heard a rumour that you were after Adam Johnson on loan. He's far far far superior in just about every way to SWP. Johnson and Downing are the only true English proper wingers in the Premier League these days
