Do Liverpool really need to sign that many midfielders?

God yes. Our midfield in depth is really poor. Poulsen and Joe Cole are both going to be shipped out. I'd guess that Adam will be Poulsen's replacement. Henderson will probably the viewed as a long term buy rather than a short term one. Liverpool have absolutely zero natural width, which is why I'd assume we're after Mata and Downing.

Is Aquilani likely to stay or go?

It just seems a bit much to sign four when it would still leave Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi, Mereiles, Kuyt and Spearing. Maybe Spearing will be loaned out? If they do sign all of those then I don't think there can be any excuse for not finishing in the top 4, that would be a massive improvement in the squad and they're not that far behind in the first place.

I think Aqualini will go. It seems likely at the moment. Shame really.

I think the idea behind Comoli and Dalglish is just to increase the squad depth. Last year for example our bench would consistent of Jones, Wilson, Kyriakos, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Spearing, N'Gog. Whereas Man Utd would have Kuzasck, Smalling, Anderson, Brown, Park, Nani, Owen. Huge increase in the gulf of quality between the benches. That's where Liverpool are lacking at the moment. I think Liverpool will be Top 4 next season. Is going to be an interesting off-seasons!

Jordan Henderson 20m?

Phil Jones 18m?

Ashley Young 16m?

Jose Enrique 15m?

The world has gone mad.

Liverpool agreed a deal with Sunderland for Henderson.

£20m, fucking hell

Bit gutted to see him leave, local lad and he's got talent but he's frustratingly inconsistent. When he's good he's very good but when he has an off day he's absolutely terrible. Best of luck to him like, he's still young and should develop nicely at Liverpool. Although currently he's nowhere near Liverpool standard.

Downing 18m as well! To be honest these sorts of fees have been happening for an age now. I fully blame Man City and their ridiculous buys of Lescott and Milner.

It's 13m+N'Gog. Probs a good deal for both parties. I've not seen enough of Henderson to judge him, but he looks decent from what I've seen. Definitely a long-term signing mind. I always thought N'Gog would come on and be a top striker. He's kinda stagntaed this year and he doesn't use his height to full use imo. Hope you can get the best out of him, as somewhere there's a good striker in there. Can be frustrating to watch, but he's only young. If Liverpool are shifting out N'Gog, then it looks like the Wickham rumours are true then.

If it's £13m + N'Gog i'll have lost all faith in Bruce. He is shit, absolutely terrible. Awful, awful deal for us if true.

Not officially confirmed yet. But Tony Barret and Oliver Kay from The Times have pretty much confirmed as much. Sunderland apparently value Ngog at £7m. I don't think he's worth that much personally. I think Liverpool have come off better in the deal definitely.

It's far more apparent in this transfer window though. I read somewhere the other day Reading wanted £20m for Shane Long, if he was worth a fraction of that sum he wouldn't have spent the majority of his playing career in the second tier with no interest shown from any of the big clubs in the country. £10m for Connor Wickham was another one, although that's slightly more understandable (?!) as he's still in his teens (I think).

I wouldn't rate him at £7, he's terrible. I'm usually not one for disregarding players before they've even pulled on a shirt, I even gave Chopra a chance but Jesus tapdancing Christ.

A lot of our fans have caught wind of this now and are going mental about it. Not that I can blame them, bafflingly poor business on our part if it goes ahead, even if it's just to get the lad to keep our bench warm.

I read an article in one of the broadsheets the other day (think it was The Guardian) about the mentality of buying English players and the premium value they hold. Some guy was using the Pay As You Play way of working things out, and was showing how transfers that happened years ago would now he adjusted for inflation. It's even worse now with the European and Premier League homegrown squad roles. Clubs can ask for silly money because other clubs will pay it. If they're young and English then they go for silly money. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't.

He did ok in a Liverpool team that was lacking a lot last season. His problem last season was because he was being used as a replacement for Torres, and he wasn't the Torres of 2008 form. When I thought the deal would be £20m for Henderson I really thought Liverpool were going to be shafted. That's paying a lot for potential. £13m + Ngog is maybe a little bit too less. Depends on how much they value Ngog at, which is apparently £7m.

If he does come here I want him to prove me wrong and want him to chip in with a few vital goals and do well but I really, really cannot see it happening.

Urghhh, in other news we've enquired about Darron Gibson, Seb Larsson is reportedly on his way and we're being heavily linked with Crouch (Again), N'Zgobia (Again) and Pavlyuchenko.

I think he'll do well. Is hard to judge him playing for Liverpool as he really struggled at times. Playing every week will undoubtedly benefit him though. He needs to work on his composure in front of goal though.

Gibson's terrible (I'm sure most Man Utd fans will agree). But Bruce is Fergie's love child so it seems. All of the others are good though. N'Zogbia is absolutely quality. He's a game changer. Brilliant player.

I think he'll do well.

Yes, if a club came in with a ridiculous offer for one of our worst players i'd be saying the same thing.

He looks decent, and we need another decent defender, but £16 million for a 19 year old? Ridiculous. To be honest I'd rather wrap up Sneijder and Young before looking at Jones.

Its probably more to do with Liverpool wanting him. It feels like transfer deadline day already and we've only just started June.

I'm a massive fan of Jones, he is brilliant, he's worth every bit of £16m. A commanding presence, versatile, a leader, ball playing... When you look at the prices quoted for other young English players and other defenders I think £16m is a snip for Jones.
