I've thought this for YEARS. It's a bit far-fetched but I can't see another reason why she'd continue doing what she does with seemingly NO interest in it. It could easily be one of those scary hidden goings-on that gets revealed in decades time by a middle-aged Britney and everyone goes "oh yeah, that makes so much sense!!"

I think people forget what that mental breakdown to her. She should of taken several years out or at least retired personally.

It really is a shame. I adore this woman. Loved her since the beginning. She is an unfortunate and big example of what Fame does to someone. Fame has known to kill several beloved Icons. Britney is one of the few examples of fame killing you and yet still being alive.

I feel like it did that to Elvis and Michael Jackson as well...

Though I still have hope that over time she can become truly happy again.

It's a very strange situation, I highly doubt she is FORCED into anything. As "Femme Fatale" is her last CD contracted to Jive, I'm sure if she really wanted, she could have bought her way out. And the same goes with the performances, if she didn't want to do them, she wouldn't.

I have always said how I wish Jive would submit her written work. "Mannequin" is one of the true gems of "Circus", alongside "Everytime" on "In The Zone". I really hope someone asks her at the VIP Meet&Greets on tour if we'll ever hear "The Original Doll" or "Rebellion" in full because that is what the majority of the fans want. And at the present moment (especially in the UK). It's only really the fans buying her music.

Mannequin was an ok song but it's an absolute mess if you take away the lyrics. Britney showed herself as a true artist in the album In The Zone. The only album she ever really got on board with in terms of co writing and just being creatively apart of it. She showed early signs of it on the Britney album as well.
