Weird...Fatman Scoop was hugely popular at the time so I don't understand this hate now. I've gone for Ultrabeat but I don't know why I bother voting in these - it took about 40 turns last time before Maroon 5 finally went.

It's a horrible shouty female-vocalled rock song. Like Paramore but bad.

 

Odd comparison, Evanescence are a lot darker and more metal-influenced. When you put it like that, you wonder how they ever got to #1 :lol: so glad they did though, one of my absolute favourites.

I pretty much echo this. To have the worst song in a year where Fast Food Rockers existed is quite a feat!

 

Fast Food Rockers. Absolutely the worst song here. I like novelty songs as much as the next guy but only if they're amusing (Bo Selecta being a good example there), not embarrassing music for 4 year olds. I wonder how embarrassed the 3 members of that group are nowadays...

 

This year is definitely the best so far, which isn't surprising as 2003 is one of my favourite years. Looking down the list, I have about a dozen I think are great and a load more that I like. Apart from a few bits of manufactured crap hanging around and some dodgy dance (XTM) there's very little that's awful.

The only noticeable differences between the two IMO are A) as you say, Evanescence are a bit darker and metal-li-er and B) Paramore actually make good songs. :lol: Seriously can't stand BMTL, the only 'good' thing I can say about it is that it's much better than 'My Immortal'.

 

There are loads of other songs on the list that are a bit naff but BMTL is the only one I actively hate.
