June 13, 201114 yr It's the attitude of the entire country and media, and has been spoofed by Murray himself in a Comic Relief sketch. Have you never noticed that whenever he loses (as in inevitably the case with his overhyped self) he suddenly becomes Scottish? Either way, I can't stand his whole demeanour and attitude.
June 13, 201114 yr That was some shot before. Wow. I think he could win Wimbledon y'know. He's definitely got the mentality to. It's changed so much for him lately.
June 13, 201114 yr I'd hardly say Roddick is past it, he's probably been in the form of his life the past few years. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Williams/Williams final at Eastbourne (an amazing field for the women this year, shame about the men) but i'm hoping that neither of them will win Wimbledon as it would be such an embarrassment and the womens game really doesn't need that atm. I'm hoping for a Wozniacki/Sharapova/Clijsters win (if Clijsters is fit). Or even a Li Na win as I can see the crowds of Wimbledon really liking her and i think she could be a star of the game despite her age. Women's tennis needs a new star. Well, "past it" was probably a bit harsh, but it just seems that he's never in with a shot of actually challenging the big four players when he plays them, at least last year and this. Perhaps I just have a skewed perception. I'd definitely wager something on Li Na. She's been in both Slam finals this year and I think she favours grass, the momentum is obviously in her favour and as you say, there's a huge gap for a new star (which Wozniacki could fill if she won a Slam, I think).
June 16, 201114 yr Author So Venus and Serena are both out of Eastbourne now, Hantuchová taking out Venus (for the first time in 11 years!!) 62 57 62 today and Zvonareva toppling Serena 36 76 75 yesterday. Clijsters has withdrawn from Wimbledon (quelle surprise) with her ankle injury. And Wimbledon seeds are out: 01 Wozniacki 02 Zvonareva 03 Li Na 04 Azarenka 05 Sharapova 06 Schiavone 07 Serena 08 Kvitova 09 Bartoli 10 Stosur 15 Jankovic 17 Kanepi 18 Ivanovic 23 Venus 25 Hantuchova Full list.
June 16, 201114 yr Seedings always tally up so closely to the overall rankings that it's sometimes a bit ridiculous not taking into account past form/ability on certain surfaces. Venus 23rd? No wonder Venus and Serena always get so far in the big tournaments. They sit out for half of the year as their overall rankings slide and then when they enter a grand slam, they're seeded so low that they play nobodies until about the semi finals  Grass + pressue/reputation of a slam will always result in at least one Williams sister in the final, hasn't there only been one occasion since 1999 where neither Serena or Venus have been there!?!
June 16, 201114 yr I am partial to a bit of Wimbledon! Did watch a few matches last week too. Gonna miss a lot of it working, so I'm going to be relying on highlights and weekends! Can see Murray making the semis, leading, it pours down, and he falls to pieces.
June 18, 201114 yr John Isner and Nicolas Mahut have managed to draw each other again at the first round of Wimbledon. Please put this match on Centre Court!
June 18, 201114 yr John Isner and Nicolas Mahut have managed to draw each other again at the first round of Wimbledon. Please put this match on Centre Court! No way :o Definitely watching that one! I hope it's as good as the last!
June 18, 201114 yr Was it the first round that they met last time? I can't remember who won though! They better make a fuss about it!
June 18, 201114 yr Was it the first round that they met last time? I can't remember who won though! They better make a fuss about it! Yes it was the first round they met last time. Isner won the match 6-4 3-6 6-7 7-6 70-68 The BBC should televise this match. It was a great match. Unbelievable. Isner won the 2010 Heinken Open in Auckland, New Zealand Mahut was the runner-up at Queens in 2007 but lost in a tie-break in the final set decider against Andy Roddick.
June 18, 201114 yr Author Hantuchova retired mid-way through her semi at Eastbourne! Stomach muscle injury apparently. Bartoli went on to beat Kvitova in three sits in the final.
June 19, 201114 yr I have this odd feeling that Kvitova stands a really good chance in Wimbledon - she's really turned into quite the player this past 12 months. :o
June 20, 201114 yr Author This Dokic v Schiavone match on now is bloody fantastic. Both in great form, currently a set apiece and going according to serve in the third but I'd say Dokic has the slightest edge... EDIT: oh god. Dokic just double-faulted and Schiavone broke back. Serving to win the match now... EDIT: Schiavone's service game has just gone to break point about SIX TIMES but she keeps pulling it back to deuce! This is AMAZING TENNIS. Match point now though... Oh she won. Oh well. Dokic put up a pretty spectacular fight.

June 20, 201114 yr Murray was distinctly average in the first set, then imperious towards the end of the second. Break up in the third so you'd assume he's alright now, Gimeno has played well though and both players look knackered.
June 20, 201114 yr On Centre Court tomorrow: Serena Williams, Roger Federer and finally Novak Djokovic Court 1: Andy Roddick, Caroline Wozniacki and finally Robin Soderling Isner and Mahut will be on Court 3 fourth on
June 21, 201114 yr Feel that Federer will win this year. He played probably the best claycourt tennis of his career at Roland Garros, and on grass he's just that much better. I suspect Murray will lose in the semis to Nadal, although he could win the US Open, because fast hardcourts really suit his game, and he's probably the best defender in the world on them (he's beaten Federer and Nadal loads of times on them). I think Venus Williams will win the women's title because she knows this could well be her last shot at winning another Grand Slam - she's in her 30s now and her body is breaking down from injuries, plus grass suits her game to a tee, and she's probably aware she might not even make it to Wimbledon next year.
June 21, 201114 yr Anne Keothavong beat Namoi Brady 6-2 6-4 in the clash of the British girls. So at least we'll have one Brit in the women's second round
June 22, 201114 yr poor Heather Watson, doing so well until the injury, lets hope she can pull through.
