She went out in the third set! It was pretty close but I don't think Watson has the mental concentration to really go far in Wimbledon just yet.

Venus against 40 year old Date-Krumm was definitely my highlight of the day, definitely went right down to the wire, who on earth comes back after 12 years of retirment at such an age and can still hold their own like that? :o

Still Date Krumm won her first Wimbledon match for 15 years by beating Katie O'Brien

Watson will do well in future Grand Slams hopefully.

Murray through to the third round, comfortable win but not spectular.

Hewitt just won the most extraordinary point against Soderling (and broke serve!) from basically on his knees. Amazing! He's on course to take the second set too...

Edit: he's taken it! A 3 set victory here would be brilliant but I feel like Soderling is going to take the next, he seems to have been loosening up over the course of the last few points.

Managed to catch the last set of the Li-Lisicki match - incredible stuff. So tense and I can't believe how hard they hit the ball, it's like they're using cricket bats. Sad for Li, but Lisicki's been on good form thanks to Edgbaston and I've always liked her, so I hope she has a good run.
I've come to the conclusion that tennis is more interesting if I've bet on it. It was going alright, I had four bets and I needed one more winner in each one, but someone I'd never heard of let me down (despite being 2/7!) and Isner is as well, so need Ferrer and Bartoli to win so I at least get some return!

Gutted for Hewitt after he won the first two sets! Can't believe he's dropped so low in the World rankings (130-ish :nocheer:)

Women's French Open champion Na Li was just knocked out too in a very topsy turvy and great three set match against a German girl who I may or may not now have a thing for

It's good to see Lisicki finding some form again!

I'm gonna make a bold prediction right now, the ladies final will be between:

5 Maria Sharapova and 8 Petra Kvitova

;) You heard it here first

[huge potential to look stupid with these guesses :kink:]

Really? i think mentally she's probably the toughest out of the brit girls, she was certainly going to win that match until the injury where she couldn't straighten her arm to serve or hit her forehand properly. I can see her being top 50 before the years out if she gets over her injury quickly.

Also at the moment im going with a semis prediction of Sharapova/Serena and Petkovic/Venus with the final being Sharapova/Venus and Sharapova winning.

Serena is looking really RADIANT at the minute. I think I'm attracted to her...

As for Watson I just see a lot of cursing and frustration from her every match she plays. I know some players work like that but I think she still needs to mature and part of that will be learning to keep a check on her emotions. Shouting 'OH MY GOD!' every time she believes the ball was called bad when it was good or whatever is a bit ridic. She's a pretty immense player when she's on top of her game though and I definitely think she could be top 20 material in time, maybe two or three years.

I do feel sorry for the Brit girls with their lack of BBC coverage. Baltacha just won the first set and they've (probably rightly) shunned her to the red button for Robson V Sharapova. I do hope Robson does well, but she is really sturggling to hold her serve on the first game of the first set.

Yeah I can already tell that Robson is going to be slaughtered like cattle today. She's just so shaky. Hopefully she'll become more poised with age but she looks like a little girl taking on a grown woman out there.

unfortunately as soon as BBC 2 left Baltacha has gone off a little bit and just dropped the second set 6-2. Peng is playing better though.

Having said what I did Sharapova is obviously a bit nervous. Robson leads 2 games to 0
this is nail biting Tennis in the third set for Baltacha she broke and then got broke and has had 4 break points in this game. Definitely staying with this then moving to Robson.
Looks like Robson-Sharapova will go to the tiebreak for the first set. And I now have to go to the dentist *SIGH*

This Baltacha-Peng game is some bloody essential tennis!

edit: oh the curse of me strikes again and Peng beats out Baltacha.

I'm not sure this is the slightest bit surprising, it was always going to be the case. Baltacha may be British but she's been around for years now and hasn't gone past Round 2 for nine years now, and the interest in Robson is deservedly higher to warrant her being on BBC2. It's not as if they've thrown her off just for a big name, they replaced her with a bigger British name.

She played some fantastic tennis in the first set but is now 4-1 down in the second. She's definitely going to go further if she continues like this, Sharapova was rattled on a few occasions, three consecutive double faults!

Nah not supprising and I do agree with the decission this time. I do hope Robson goes on to do well with her self in the future. Along with Watson, the UK might actualy have a couple of decent female players for the future, and hopefuly it means the end of the likes of Katie O'Brian getting wild cards into the tournament. In the mens game I am not sure who other than Murray are really one for the futrue. They all seam really inconsistant.
