Rhydian will be headlining the music festival in August! :yahoo: :cheer:

Rhydian and Only Men Aloud! for Gŵyl Gobaith

James McLaren | 10:12 UK time, Wednesday, 29 June 2011

Gŵyl Gobaith line-up has begun to be announced, with some of Wales' top classical/crossover stars in the frame.

Rhydian Roberts will join The Three Welsh Tenors and Only Men Aloud at the Deeside festival which takes place 26-28 August.

Part of the philosophy of the festival is to raise money for charities and this year the three main sponsors have each chosen their own good cause. Clic Sargent, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Wales Air Ambulance have been chosen by Airbus, Gardeners Accountants and Windpower Wales respectively.

Rhydian Roberts said: "It is a pleasure to be able to perform here. I love to perform and it is essential that we keep music festivals alive in Wales and Clwyd, because it is a great place, with good links across the border.

"I am very excited to be at the launch and the Air Ambulance is something that is also close to my heart and saved the life of a neighbour of mine. It's a great line up and going to be a great festival."

Lucky fans in Wales! :)

I've heard a rumour that Rhydian will be in WWRY musical! :w00t:

Is it true? ;)

How he can be promoting his new album and being in the musical?

That's a bit strange; maybe is not true him being the part of WWRY.

Rhydian has been a part of WWRC musical since 2 months, having currently a short break from it, but continues to act and sing in the musical in July and the beginning of August. The musical will be staged at Birmingham for the above mentioned time.

I have no clue if he is going to be able to promote his album Waves while being the part of the WWRY. :(

We'll have to wait and see! :teresa:

Rhydian is to headline an open air concert which will open the Gwyl Gobaith Music Festival in Mold at the end of August. He'll be showcasing songs from his new album due for release on 1st August and will be joined by BOND, the original all-girl electric string quartet with more stars to be announced soon.

If I've understood you well Rhydian will be at the same time releasing his album while being occupied with performing in WWRY musical? <_<

Is this a clever thing to do?

How he can promote the album?

Everytime he steps on the stage he will say the public his album is out and they should buy it, lol?

I wish him the best, the guy deserves the suvccess, he is fenomenal singer and outrageously exciting performer.

Is he still with Simon Cowell? :blink:I heard he has left SyCo.

'Waves' was an old top 30 hit by Blancmange.

They did it far more justice.

You can use it, but I can PM you a lovely Rhydian banner if you want!

Have anyone heard Rhydian first single Parade on Radio 2?

Apparently has been played there for the first time! :w00t:

I heard it yesterday on my local radio!

I must say I do like it a lot! It stands out among all the poppy pop of today. :P

Amazing voice; the best I reckon among the young artists!

Waiting for your PM, Maydalena!

You've promised me something, lol! :)

Patricky, check your PM! :)

Saw yesterday Rhydian in B'ham! Brian May was there too, what a show! :yahoo:

OMG, Rhydian is not just amazing singer, the guy is a born actor too. :thumbs up:

Pity he doesn't sing more in WWRY, one and half song is not enough to showcase his tremendous voice; it's 'scary' when he open his mouth and that voice comes out. :D :w00t:

I am going to watch it definitely! :w00t:

I do like Rhydian and his first single Parade is one of the best song of this year ; that's my humble opinion. :) The song becomes alive with his interpretation. I wonder how it will sound on TV and what kind of back up live music he is going to have!

New interview with Rhydian! :cheer: :yahoo: :w00t:

Q and A with Rhydian Roberts

July 13, 2011

Big haired Welsh wonder Rhydian Roberts has gone from strength to strength since coming second on the X Factor in 2007.

His two albums Rhydian and O Fortuna both charted strongly and his talents have seen him star in War of the Worlds and get picked to host a new talent show in his native Wales.

Here he answers our questions on his latest projects, a third album and his massive hair.

According to the internet your name roughly translates as ‘having a strong eagerness’ does this sum you up well?

Yes, I would say that reflects my personality quite well.

What was the defining moment for you when you realised you wanted to be a musician and that nothing else would do?

I have always sung since I was small. I had a dream/ vision when I was only 10 that saw me singing on tv and making my own albums. That was weird as it was before pop idol or x factor even existed. What really made me go for it though was when I did a gap year in South Africa and made my first CD. The whole experience made me want a proper recording contract, I learnt so much out there it was unbelievable.

You are currently performing in ‘We Will Rock You’ tell us a little about your role in the musical.

I play commander Kashoggi. He’s the bad guy that works under the killer queen, I go around catching Bohemians and send them to seven seas of rye! I sing it’s a kind of magic and seven seas of rye in the second half. I love queen’s music and It’s one hell of a show to be involved with.

Are you a big Queen fan, was that part of your decision to take part in the musical?

Queen are possible my all time favourite band. I love their music, lyrics, ingenuity and the showmanship that Freddie took to a whole new level whilst singing like an angel! Amazing!

You also star as Teen Angel in a production of Grease, where and when can people see you in the musical?

I’ll be appearing as teen angel for a short period between middle of October till the end of November. Details of venues, tickets etc will be on my website http//wwww.rhydianroberts.com Which one gives you the biggest buzz, being part of a big production or singing solo songs at one of your gigs?

It depends really. I guess it’s hard to compare the feeling you get from performing your own show. I’m good at being part of a team but I love centre stage also!

Your new album is released around August time this year, what can people expect? Is it going to opera classics or more of a pop music crossover sound?

It’s a pop record. If you like the 80′s you’ll love it. It’s a new wave album which includes some unreleased songs. It’s completely different from my last two. It’s the best yet!

What is the most inspirational lyric or piece of music you have heard or performed?

Liebestod sung by Linda Esther Gray. The perfect piece of music

Who for you is the ultimate musician? And who if you could perform with any one just once, who would it be?

Mozart.

You are filming a T.V. Series for S4C, with ‘upcoming Welsh talent’ do you have any tips on who you think could be a big music star soon that we should look out for?

There are a couple of amazing instrumentalists that I’ve already found! You’ve either got it or you haven’t. These guys have definitely got it and I can’t wait to show them for the first time on my show.

If the News of The World were to hack your phone, would they find any scandalous celebrity gossip?

No!!

Pippa or Kate Middleton?

Kate by a country mile! She’s the princess in every way and far better looking in my opinion… Pippa’s bum though perhaps!!

And finally, how do you get your hair looking so mighty fine?

With crap loads of treatments, Costs me a fortune!!

Rhydians third album Waves is released shortly on Conehead records and for more information on all things Rhydian visit either his Facebook page or official website.

Isn't Rhydian more like crossover classical singer?

Coming out with the pop album? Uh, that I would like to see, lil! B)

Is the single out - and the video? Will say nothing before I don't hear it, don't want to criticize for nothing. The guy has got pipes, yes, but not for pop, maybe rock! ;)

:)

Waves is the name of the album and the song Waves we have never heard from Rhydian yet. B)

actually, there's promos featuring snippets of the album doing the rounds at the moment - as a fan you'd surely have one or have heard of these....? All I can say is - all the tracks featured (inc. Waves)... the originals are, of course, 100% better.

I've heard only one snippet and that's Parade which is fantastic! :cheer:

One of the introductions of Waves of Rhydian! :w00t:

'Waves' sees Rhydian shifting focus and harnessing the power and innate theatricality in his vocal delivery to perfectly complement this new suite of material. 'Waves' deploys the same sense of fun and drama that characterized the New Wave era whilst also showcasing Rhydian's extraordinary baritone vocals and the phrasing that makes each song his. Ian McNabb of Icicle Works has commented, "He's a terrific singer and a proper pop star. He's kept it really up beat and poppy and it sounds like a hit all over again. By the way my mum loves you and hasn't been this excited for years. Power on". Pat Gribben of The Adventures added, "When someone with a voice gifted from God and who could choose to record any sing picks out one of yours it's the ultimate compliment. I'm chuffed to bits."

'Waves' is a bold and confident album made by a performer at the top of his game. With massive success already achieved, Rhydian has chosen to take both control and the creative route. "I'm a singer, not a songwriter, and what I do is interpret and communicate songs that I love. This new album fits really well with the music that my fans know already and I think they are going to love this too."

WOW! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Rhydian!

It's a very well told story, with some drama in it, but the most wonderful is the song and Rhydian has just proved he has got everything to be a pop star too!

The vocals are amazing! :w00t:

The song with his interpretation just gets that special 'something', isn't it?
