N-Trance feat Kelly Llorenna - Set You Free (2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-2-2-1-2-2-2-3-3-3-3-3-3-4-4-5) Sometimes the remixes are wack, sometimes they're great. This one would come under the latter category. Glorious remix (for me tops the original by a mile), but then I find trance a much more powerful genre than jungle. Its perfect. Although I'm not sure if I prefer this or "Forever" by N-Trance, I think Forever would win for me :wub: Obsessed with it for ages and still love it to bits. 2. Delta Goodrem - Believe Again (1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-4-R-5-5) Not a fan of Delta, sorry :P Only song I like by her is "Lost Without You", and I doubt it'd make my top500. 3. Shakira feat Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie (5-R-4-2-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-2-4-5) Also a #1 hit with me, just a really uplifting latin-pop anthem. The Corrs - Runaway (N/A) This was a great ballad, they were HUGE here in Portugal. They're the epitome of perfect radio band :lol: I cant tell the difference between this one and the remix, unlike their other tracks - too subtle maybe? I prefer the remixes of Dreams and So Young, but I think the original of What Can I Do to be a lot superior, I loved the charming "doo doo doos" :D The remix was never a hit here, so I never heard it until like 10 years later. 10. Alice Deejay - Back In My Life (1-3-3-5-1-1-2-4-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-4-4-5) Would definitely rank in my top10 too, just brilliant. Remember hearing it when my parents were dropping me off at school, and thinking wow I love this song, but not hearing the name of the artist. I had to wait until I saw it randomly on MTV Europe, sad trance anthems have a special place in my heart :wub: 11. Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite (5-5-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-3-4) You know what I think of this :P 13. Alcazar - Stay The Night (1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-4-5) Can't say I'm a HUGE fan of them. Although I did really like Crying At The Discotheque. 14. Take That - Rule The World (4-3-2-2-3-4-4-4-5-R-5) I think this and Pray are their best songs. 16. Lady GaGa - Bad Romance (5-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-4) I do really like this, but I feel its overrated. To me Poker Face and Paparazzi are her best songs. 19. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers (1-3-3-2-1-2-1-1-1-2-2-5) Yeah I knew this would be the only Kylie song here. Not sure it would make my Kylie top10 though. OANLT is her best one for me, the ATB influence on that song was mesmerizing :lol: 20. This and Shooting Star were their defining moments. 21. ATB - 9pm (Till I Come) (1-1-1-3-5) Its a classic but its not one of my favourites by him (I do like it). Let U Go, Hold YouThe Summer, Killer 2000, Dont Stop, Here With Me, Renegade are better imo. 23. Robyn - With Every Heartbeat (3-4-2-3-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-4-5) It topped my chart but I never listen to it anymore. I much prefer Handle Me and Be Mine from that album. 24. Vanessa Amorosi - Absolutely Everybody (3-R-2-1-2) Brilliant song, very uplifting. Amazing what The Box could do back in the day, it launched so many top20 singles that had no radio support. 29. Sarah McLachlan - World On Fire (3-1-2-1-1-1-1-3-2-4-R-2-R-1-3) Not heard this, though I really like Fallen (her best imo) and Adia. 30. Jennifer Lopez feat Pitbull - On The Floor (4-1-1-1-2-2-3-4) Wow, such a high entry! I do love it of course, but nothing tops Waiting For Tonight imo. Also the Jlo era was perfect, 4 brilliant singles from that album. 33. Kim Lukas - All I Really Want (2-2-1-1-2-5-R-4-R-1-5-R-4-2-5) Yes I can confirm this was a big hit. I also love To Be You and Let It Be The Night. Fun times. 34. Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme (4-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3) Cant stand this, I just dont get its appeal. 37. Delerium feat Sarah McLachlan - Silence (1-1-1-1-2-2-3-5) Airscape remix beats everything else for sure. In fact, I dont like the Tiesto remixes of Delerium. Innocente had a much better witness by Lost Witness. 38. Shakira - Whenever, Wherever (2-3-2-2-4-R-3-4-2-1-3) This was already big here back in late 2001, I remember it took a while to take off elsewhere. For me, a great definition of a brilliant pure pop classic. 39. Madonna - Hung Up (1-1-1-1-1-2-5-5-3-4-1-4) Good track, although nowhere near my fav Madge tracks. I'd probably put The Power Of Goodbye as my fav, that ballad pulls my heartstrings. 40. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name (3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-1-2-4) Good Rihanna track, surprising to see such an R&B anthem so high up your chart :lol: Dunno what my fav would be, probably Take A Bow. Controversial I know... 41. Fragma feat Maria Rubia - Everytime You Need Me (2-2-2-2-1-R-1-1-1-2-4-3-5) They were my favorite act back then, literally obsessed. First heard it in 2000 and said this had all the makings of a #1 hit. Not quite but it had staying power. I miss this kind of dance music, seriously. So tired of electro-urban-rap hybrid. I just know it will never come back, just like the brilliant eurodance scene from the early and mid 90s never returned. It saddens me. 42. Ian van Dahl - Castles In The Sky (4-2-2-3-3-4-3-1-3-4-4-5) Another perfect slice of eurotrance, can you believe this one semi-flopped in Belgium when it was released Summer 2000? Unbelievable. Although they did make up for it by making Walk On Water and Turn The Tide #1 hits that year :D 43. All Saints - Rock Steady (2-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-3-4-5) Perfect comeback song, also topped my chart. They have several great tracks, would be hard for me to choose. Although Bootie Call, Black Coffee and All Hooked Up would be right up there. Shame they released the bland Chick Fit and that was the end of them (again). 44. Fragma feat Coco - Toca's Miracle (1-1-1-3-4-R2008-3-5) Crediting Coco here, I see :P Dance classic, absolutely. The remix was decent, but the original is way better. The video has been removed over and over again on youtube, its really annoying. I also cannot find Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You" or Sasha's "If You Believe", I think some songs are just not allowed to be there :( 45. Girls Aloud - The Promise (3-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-5) Horrendous! :lol: Worst GA song imo. Its so unbelievably boring and annoying, I just dont get the appeal whatsoever. 46. Stromae - Alors On Danse (3-R-1-2-1-2-2-2) Was so pleased this came about, it did make our radios support french sung music again (albeit only slightly), since then I've heard a few french tracks by Lolita, Shalya, Colonel Reyel, Shy'm. So its been good. 49. ATC - Around The World (La La La La La) (1-R-3-2-1-1-1-1-1-5-3) This definitely took so long to reach the UK, it was even released earlier in the US. I think had it been released in 2000, when europop was much bigger, it would've gone top5. 52. Thrillseekers feat Sheryl Deane - Synaesthesia (Fly Away) (1-1-1-3-R-1-1-2-5) Not a fan of the vocal version. Its one of the few dance tracks that I just prefer as an instrumental, another one would be Chicane - Offshore. Otherwise I agree with you that it is very uplifting, and sadly underrated and forgotten. 53. Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) (1-2-2-1-1-3-4-R-2) HUGE. Seriously. It was everywhere. One of the defining classics of the 90s. 54. KT Tunstall - Other Side Of The World (1-2-3-5-5-R-3-R-5-R-3-4) The only song of hers I can tolerate... 55. Aurora feat Naimee Coleman - Ordinary World (2-4-1-2-5) Really great cover, and a surprising top5 hit. I also love Hear You Calling and The Day It Rained Forever, both very underrated. 57. Atomic Kitten - Eternal Flame (1-1-1-1-2-2-5) :lol: No comment. Lol ok, decent cover but I think the original by the Bangles is SO much better. As far as AK songs go, It's OK and Last Goodbye are my favs. 58. Mariah Carey feat Joe & 98º - Thank God I Found You (2-1-1-2-4) Surprised this is your fav Mariah track :o Its decent but kinda bland. I do prefer her late 90s stuff like Always Be My Baby, My All, Honey and Heartbreaker. 61. Natasha Bedingfield - These Words (3-2-1-1-1-1-5) I knew this would be a #1 hit as soon as I heard it, 2004 still had some decent pop, but not much. It all came crashing down in 2005 though... 63. Kelly Llorenna - Tell It To My Heart (1-1-R-5-2-2-1-1-5) Not sure it is better than the original, although I do love both. Kelly did the original justice, her vocals are similar to Dayne's too. Let's just say I was obsessed with this genre back then. Me and a friend from school would keep singing this track all the time. I also heard it at a club in my holidays in Spain that year, went absolutely nuts :D 66. Spiller feat Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) (3-1-1-1-3-1-5) Another huge hit, but one I find rather bland :( Lady is better imo. 67. Groove Armada feat Mutya - Song 4 Mutya (3-1-3-R-5-3-3-4-2-5-5-5) I didnt really care for this one, I thought it was a big step down from Get Down which had a great bassline. 69. Cher - Believe (N/A) Her signature track? Funny that when she came out with this and scored, all the other grandmas of music came out with similar like tracks: Donna Summers "I Will Go With You", Tina Turners "When The Heartache Is Over" and Diana Ross's "Not Over You Yet". Let's just say I loved them all :lol: 71. Cardigans - Erase/Rewind (N/A) I really like a few of their tracks, this was definitely one of their best, along with My Favourite Game. Ah, the days of watching MTV when it played music videos. 73. Blue - I Can (3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-3-5) You know I like this, but it definitely wouldnt rank in my top5 Blue tracks. Plus I feel like recent tracks we always tend to obsess over but after a while we get bored of them, and in a few years time we look back and think we evaluated them too soon. My fav blue track is Fly By II :wub: 74. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone (2-1-2-2-4-3-4-3) Hated this for such a long time, you have no idea. I dont anymore, but I still find it very overrated. Behind These Hazel Eyes and Sober however, are lush :wub: Already Gone was great too. 75. Nerina Pallot-Everybody's Gone To War (2-1-1-2-1-1-3-2-4-5) Not a big fan, actually the whole singer-songwriter phase of 2006-2008 really bored me overall. Speaking of which: 76. Daniel Powter - Bad Day (5-R-5-1-1-1-1-2-2-4) This however was an exception: LOVED it at the time, and I still think it holds up well. Dont get the flack it got, You're Beautiful is way more annoying I would think. 77. Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry (1-1-1-1-2-3-3-4-4-5) She definitely won over the critics with this one, and even though I hated London Bridge, she did change my mind with Fergalicious, I loved that one :lol: 80. My fav Keri tracks keep changing, but I heard Energy again this week and I have decided that that one is still her best single to date, its perfect. 83. Hardly any would reach the top10, so I was pleasantly surprised this got their with minimal support. Its a very classy cover I think. 84. Lily Allen - Smile (1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3) Hated this, she really annoyed me. I actually think I dont care for any of her songs, she could be gone and I wouldnt miss her :P 85. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor (4-1-1-3-4-5-4-4-5) Fun pop song, although I never seem to bring myself to play it anymore. For me its one of those songs that whenever you hear it you singalong and think "what a nice track", but if you never hear it again you dont really miss it :lol: 86. Alice Deejay - Will I Ever (1-R-4-1-3-3-1-1-4-5) My least fav AD track, always found it too cheesy :lol: Now I realise I've loved several cheesier tracks like Dana Rayne's Object Of My Desire, but for some reason this never clicked with me. 91. Ian van Dahl - Will I? (2-4-1-3-1-1-1-4-5-5) Brilliant song and such a well deserved top5 hit for them. I like how in this song the synths are so outrageously loud and in your face, it just works. 92. The Veronicas - 4Ever (2-1-1-R-5-R-5-2-R-4) This was a good track, but Untouched and This Love are unbeatable imo. 93. Thunderbugs - Friends Forever (2-2-2-4-1-3) Its one of those songs you dont admit to anyone that you like :lol: I think its a really sweet song and one that makes me think of my past and how people really arent "friends forever", well most of them anyway. 94. Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor (3-3-4-4-4-2-1-3-3-5) Took me a while to like this one, but I eventually came around. Probably their signature track, although I think Miracle is their best. They need to stop jumping on bandwagons though and imitating other artists. San Francisco is such a California Gurls ripoff, but it seems their ripoffs usually pay off, and its about to be a huge hit for them in Germany. 95. Jade Ewen - It's My Time (5-3-4-4-5-R-5-R-5-1-2) Bland. Not one of my fav UK entries, and certainly not Jade's best track imo :lol: My Man and Punching Out however were brilliant songs, such a shame she had to join the Sugababes :( 97. Jewel - Down So Long (1-2-4) I dont think many people know this but I really like Jewel and LOVE several of her tracks. This one however, while pleasing, I dont care much for. Break Me, Standing Still, Hands, Stand, This Way and Foolish Games get to me every single time :wub: Shame she went too country with her other albums, I dont think I've heard a track by her that I cared about since her 2003 era. 98. As per usual, their careers are usually short - I think The Spell deserved much better. 100. Love inc - You're A Superstar (2-3-5-2-1-1-1-5-4-5) The definition of taking TOO DAMN LONG? Lol. From 1998 which was their release date in Canada (and Europe, I just found out last year that this was a Spanish top10 hit in 1998 also), to 2002 is way too big of a gap. Thankfully it still sounded fresh enough in 2002 for it to conquer the charts. 2002 was the last fun year for dance music, this, Karaja, Mad'House, Laava, Sash!'s comeback, was a good year for the genre.
June 15, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the comments Dre, I did read all of them although I'm not going to respond to them individually, it's nice to see you liking so many of the dance classics though, dance will always be my first love :wub: As for ranking recent songs up there with your all time favourites, it's pretty much a given that anything that spends 5 weeks at the top of my chart eventually gets there (a notable exception being Kelly Llorenna's This Time I Know It's For Real - loon much :lol:) and I Can is definitely one of my favourites of this year, I don't think I'll be getting bored of it any time soon. And I know for a fact that I'm never going to tire of hearing On The Floor - I still hugely enjoy listening to it almost half a year on!

Missy Higgins - Ten Days ebunXhK3KWY Personal chart top 5 run: 1-1-1-1-1-3-1-3-4-4-4-5 Anybody who knew me on Cool Clarity circa 2005 will know that I had a VERY big obsession with an Australian singer/songwriter called Missy Higgins. I was watching TV one day and this video came onto the music channel B4 (anybody remember that!?!), I absolutely instantly fell in love with it - her unique voice and clear Aussie accent on top of an absolutely gorgeous song - the instrumental part in the middle 8 is truly stunning for me, the mix of piano and string instrument. She never really broke out anywhere other than Australia although her song Where I Stood is the soundtrack to many a US drama I've noticed. Anybody who likes these sort of artists, I really couldn't recommend her debut album The Sound of White any more highly, great memories - great music :wub: Haha. She always reminds me of Cool Clarity and my short-lived singer/songwriter phase, she was probably the reason me and you ever spoke (until Nerina) and we were probably the only fans on CC. Thanks for commenting West :D Didn't realise Drinking In LA was older than its UK release too, the UK is often ridiculously late at getting songs, but I guess it works both ways - for example Bleeding Love and Break Your Heart were huge here before anybody else because they're British! When I first heard You're A Superstar I just assumed that they were going for a retro late 90s-esque sound, not realising that it literally was from that period :lol:
