For some reason I always thought 'Unwritten' was NatBed's UK #1, not 'These Words'. Was disappointed when I found out about my confusion. Unwritten is much better.

Yeah, the album 'Unwritten' was the #1 not the single. I remembered it like that long ago.

"Better Off Alone", "Bad Romance" and "Rule The World" for top 20? :D

Good predictions! I can reveal that Lady Gaga DOES appear in the top 100, and just the once!

Love Song FTW! :cheer: Love You're A Superstar...great start. :D

Could do it!

I don't know if it was just my love for the song stopping me from being objective but I was shocked when the first mids came out and it was #9, it climbed a bit to #6 by Sunday but I'd thought she had a second #1 on the cards - it was really underrated in the UK :(

Unwritten is another sexy song  You have good taste so far Bernie

Thanks

I've just realised how "Price Tag" (well, most Jessie J songs barring DILAD) could so easily be sung by Natasha Bedingfield.

I agree, they are very similar in many ways - loads of Jessie's album tracks instantly reminded me of Natasha.

98. Alphabeat - Fascination

Personal chart top 5 run: 5-3-3-2-2-4-R-4

I grew quite the obsession with this band right at the start of 2008 or maybe back end of 2007, can't remember exactly. But either way I had a class titled 'The Media and Music' as part of my degree and at the start of each seminar we took it in turns to pick an unknown song to 'introduce' to the class. This was the one I picked and it went down pretty well. A couple of months later it took on a life of its own and went top ten in the UK - almost unheard of for Scandipop! Although they had a *slight* indie cred edge which probably helped a bit as indie pop was very much in chartwise at that point, it was hardly as bizarre as Scooter getting a UK #1 album a few months later! But I digress, this is a joyful feelgood fun pop song, and definitely gives me some good uni memories.

Love all 3 so far  This is epic

I remember being obsessed with Fascination, seriously I don't usually like that sort of song, but that was amazing

Unwritten's a really good song  Natasha was so good in 2004, what happened in 2007, with that I Wanna Have Your Babies garbage :(

Set You Free

for number 1? :kink:

Don't like Fascination at all I'm afraid. They had much better moments (namely EVERY OTHER ONE OF THEIR SINGLES, but specifically The Spell)

I have a feeling I may have actually hated The Spell at the time it came out, but if I did I've changed my mind since then.

Number 98 is a great song, I didn't know it was Scandipop  but that won't stop me from liking it :) Good chart so far, out of all the songs I know (I've never heard number 99)

97. Jewel - Down So Long

Personal chart top 5 run: 1-2-4

Probably won't be fourth in a row for Shelli loving - this track was the first song to ever top my personal chart when I started it way back in summer 1999. A fairly respectable debut #1 if I do say so myself, it still holds a huge place in my heart. I heard it all over the radio (whatever the Heart equivalent was in my hometown at the time) but it limped in at a dismal #38 here for the Canadian star who was huge in the US but never really crossed over here. No doubt David will be pleased to see that I haven't forgotten about her - he's her only other fan that I know of on BuzzJack! Anyway, if you don't know it and have a hankering for some MOR female pop-rock, you may enjoy it. Kudos to anybody who genuinely remembers it too!

96. Delta Goodrem - Electric Storm

Personal chart top 5 run: 3-2-2-3-5-OUT-4

The first of X number of appearances from my favourite artist of all time (hence the username). Electric Storm was a track on Delta's 2004 album Mistaken Identity, the lyrics relating to her rocky relationship with Australian tennis player Mark Philippoussis - dear god she's had some strange partners - Mark, Brian McFadden and Nick Jonas? What a trio! Anyway, this is a dramatic mid-tempo anthem and always reminds me of Xmas Eve 2004 for some reason, I think I had it on repeat on the journey home from work on that day. Silas sent it to BJSC at some point and it flopped spectacularly but that was the Delta curse at play once again sadly. It really is magnificent.

I really don't like 'The Spell', didn't seem up to the standard of past singles. 'Fascination' is brilliant, can't decide whether I prefer that single or 'Boyfriend'.

95. Jade Ewen - It's My Time

Personal chart top 5 run: 5-3-4-4-5-OUT-5-OUT-5-1-2

EUROVISION ALERT! The first of what will no doubt be many songs from the contest of song that I so dearly cherish. 2009 and Andrew Lloyd Webber was put to the task to bring us back a bit of pride. He wrote a song that sounded like it came right out of Eurovision 1959, and with fairly uninspired lyrics from Diane Warren on top, a singer needed to be found. Jade Ewen was thankfully that singer, and not 'The Twins', which would have been another embarrassment. Jade of course later formed Sugababes 4.0 with Heidi and Amelle once Keisha was kicked out, and the rest is history...It's My Time came a respectable 5th place in the contest and I absolutely love it, dated as it may be! I had to post the performance just for the hilarious duo of violinist smacking Jade in the face, and smug 'aren't I great' appearance of Sir Andrew himself! That would have won a few points from the juries itself surely!

94. Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor

Personal chart top 5 run: 3-3-4-4-4-2-1-3-3-5

*Awaits the haters* 2009 again and it's noted German tribute act Cascada. This time Natalie and the others were jumping on the Gaga bandwagon with a Just Dance rip-off, complete with electro synths, club lyrics/video and rent-a-rapper Carlprit (who?). And in it went at #1 in the UK charts, they'd somehow managed to outdo the success of their debut single (almost unheard of for dance acts!). Anyway, as tacky as it may be it defined my summer and for that reason alone deserves its place here.

I love this song but I'm hoping 'Everytime We Touch' is yet to come, it is their best song by far and is yet to chart on my Top 50 Dance Songs Of All Time. ETD shouldn't have stopped MJ from getting an after-death number one however, I'm sure most people will agree on that one.

Amazing so far! Jewel, Cascada, Jade Ewen, Alphabeat and Natasha Bedingfield are all  I already have an idea of the top 2 :kink:

93. Thunderbugs - Friends Forever

Personal chart top 5 run: 2-2-2-4-1-3

1999 was full of girlband one hit wonders - although 'hit' was stretching it for the awful 21st Century Girls! Hepburn managed a top ten hit with the wonderful I Quit and British/French/German quartet Thunderbugs took this 'girls with guitars' ode to friendship and broken relationships all the way to #5 in the UK, perhaps one of the least remembered top five hits of the year  Anyway, the music in the verses of this song is excellent and the middle 8 is life enhancing! They never saw the UK top 40 again and farted their album out only on Mini Disc (). Yes I did buy it, along with the three other people - this was the best song on there by quite a huge stretch!

I have a feeling that I know what your number 1 (or 2) is already, but I shall keep it to myself. After all, who needs spoilers anyway?

I'll have to get arround to doing another countdown of my own. I feel like I need to reboot my top 100 of the 90s in light of new discoveries..

Friends Forever  I remember this
I might have to do one of these :D
