The Veronicas - 4ever qqeHuk07X60 Personal chart top 5 run: 2-1-1-OUT-5-OUT-5-2-OUT-4 Australian twin sister duo The Veronicas first came to my attention in late 2005 just as I'd started uni and The Secret Life Of...was the soundtrack of my life for a good half a year or so. 4ever took the Kelly Clarkson sound which had been so successful and did it just as well on what was a truly excellent debut album. This was my instant highlight although Secret, Speechless and When It All Falls Apart are all well worth checking out too. Fast forward 4 years to 2009 and they'd finally broken through in the UK with their 2007 song Untouched. As if that wasn't strange enough, somebody thought that a decent second UK single for them would be a song which was now 4 years old! As happy as I was that it was being introduced to a new audience, the pop-rock fad had died off years ago and it made a brief top 20 appearance before quickly fading. Had they got it out there in 2005, it would have been far bigger, and they could have had a much bigger career here.
June 10, 201114 yr 100. Love Inc - You're A Superstar N_zLBsRYD8w Personal chart top 5 run: 2-3-5-2-1-1-1-5-4-5 A xmas 2002 hit that spent MANY a week at #7, slightly dampened success wise due to the mighty success of the Popstars trio Girls Aloud, One True Voice and The Cheeky Girls. I found this uplifting slice of dance very much to my taste, very retro - I later found out that it was in fact a #1 in their native Canada in 1998, and hadn't been reworked for the UK release - that's why it was so dated then! I recall watching the strange video many a time at school on whatever we used to watch videos on the internet on before Youtube existed. goodness this takes me back!

June 10, 201114 yr 94. Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor A68j28KQaik Personal chart top 5 run: 3-3-4-4-4-2-1-3-3-5 *Awaits the haters* 2009 again and it's noted German tribute act Cascada. This time Natalie and the others were jumping on the Gaga bandwagon with a Just Dance rip-off, complete with electro synths, club lyrics/video and rent-a-rapper Carlprit (who?). And in it went at #1 in the UK charts, they'd somehow managed to outdo the success of their debut single (almost unheard of for dance acts!). Anyway, as tacky as it may be it defined my summer and for that reason alone deserves its place here. Colour me shocked. I wouldn't in a thousand years predict this for gooddelta's Top 100 of all time!
June 10, 201114 yr Author 91. Ian Van Dahl - Will I? 5Kzh3Sz8kFs Personal chart top 5 run: 2-4-1-3-1-1-1-4-5-5 After the huge success of Castles In The Sky, featuring uncredited big eyed dark haired singer Marsha, Will I was the first Ian Van Dahl single to feature regular vocalist Annemie. A short but sweet song lasting around 2 and a half minutes, it powered into the UK top five over xmas 2001 and hung around for a few weeks. I was a big fan of the Belgian dance scene around 2001/2 with the likes of Ian Van Dahl, Milk Inc, Lasgo, Minimalistix, Dee Dee and countless others I'll have shamefully forgotten. Will I? was certainly one of the biggest favourites of mine from the genre. That was the last one for this evening, thank you all for your replies/attention so far - it's so much better doing these sorts of things to an audience than to nobody in the personal charts sub forum. Hope people make some discoveries/have some memories from it too!
June 10, 201114 yr I heard what I'm pretty much certain your #1 will be on the radio earlier. Still routing for a shock #1 for Love Song though. :P And for me These Words > Unwritten. Though both are amazing. :P But Price Tag is pretty much identical to These Words (but not as personal to me) IMO. First thing I though when I heard it was that Bedingfield should be singing it...then I got upset that we haven't heard from her in the UK in a while... :(

I remember this tune! :w00t: :yahoo:  But thanks to lots of airplay on R1, 'Untouched' has to be my fave from them. This or 'Hook Me Up' would come 2nd I think Set You Free will win, didn't it spent something crazy like 20 weeks in your top 5?? Anyway I'll have to wait to find that out if I'm right about its position  Edited June 11, 201114 yr by danielMFAO

June 11, 201114 yr Author 90. Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love G2VH4K9Z-s0 Personal chart top 5 run: 3-1-2-OUT-4-5-5-5-OUT-3-4 Too soon? 50 odd plays in the first 3 days would suggest otherwise, I NEVER get this obsessed with songs anymore. Austria's recent entry to the Eurovision took them back to the final for the first time since 2004 and deservedly so. The goddess with the lopsided haircut and huge voice belted out this dated Christina Aguilera album cut circa 1999 and blew me away. First time I heard it I knew that it would go on to rank amongst my all time favourites, it just completely clicked with me - her voice, the Disney-esque music - yes it should have finished higher than 18th in the contest, but all the best songs do - more on that later!
June 11, 201114 yr Author 89. Daz Sampson - Teenage Life cesCYK6hiMI Personal chart top 5 run: 4-4-2-1-1-1-3-4-5 To steal a phrase from Hits, Daz Sampson was one of the musical 'grates' who brought us such wonders as 1998's cover of Kung Fu Fighting, 2002's Rhinestone Cowboy and was one half of cheesy house duo Uniting Nations. Going alone in 2006 and now well into his 30s, big kid Daz was reminiscing about his school daze. First time I heard it and the bookies placed it favourite to come last in the UK national final. Of course it wouldn't, this is the UK! I had a sneaking regard for it and it progressed through to win with the helium school girl chorus for effect. When it came to recreating it on stage it really was a  moment - a mish-mash of dated British stereotypes and some prat prancing about in a yellow jacket he took out of the part of his wardrobe labelled 1995 relics. It was probably a bit too much for Europe to handle, or at least take at all seriously and save for big points from Ireland and oddly enough smaller points from all across the Balkans, it divebombed and finished 19th...shame, as it's actually an incredibly charming song, the studio version in particular. Still, at least it gave him a UK top ten hit!
June 11, 201114 yr Author 88. Tanel Padar & Dave Benton - Everybody pvxneK8oyKI Personal chart top 5 run: 5-1-1-5-4-5 Completing this Eurovision trio (don't worry, there isn't any more for a while!), 20 year old Estonian Tanel Padar and 50 year old Dave Benton from Aruba weren't exactly highly fancied to win the contest back in 2001 for Estonia, and had odds as long as 150/1. I'm not sure why, it had a great draw, it was a lively track and it massively stood out with its feel good chorus and boyband breakdancing in the middle 8. It was certainly my favourite and I voted for it hoping that it would go top ten at least - it managed far better than that and took the crown, to the dismay of the majority of Euroloons who deem it to be one of the all time worst winners. Guess what - I disagree. I went right out the next day and bought the Eurovision compilation CD, just to get hold of this song!
June 11, 201114 yr Author 87. Rihanna - Disturbia E1mU6h4Xdxc Personal chart top 5 run: 1-1-4-3-OUT-4-3-2-5 2007's Good Girl Gone Bad was when I really sat up and began to take notice of Rihanna, she could have gone either way with this era. A slip up of a first single and she may have been just another Christina Milian, but she came back with Umbrella, one of the decade's defining moments. Fast forward a year and some incredible success and it was time for the inevitable re-release - electro pop song Disturbia saw the Barbadian dabbling in yet another different genre, and it sounded like she'd had Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee) on repeat before twisting it into something very interesting - darker than we expected from her, the video especially, and it paved the way into Rated R perfectly. I was rather addicted to this song for quite a while, and as somebody who didn't care at all for Rihanna until quite a few years into her career, it's interesting to note that this isn't her last appearance in the countdown!
June 11, 201114 yr Author 86. Alice Deejay - Will I Ever g9Y6BM-agjA Personal chart top 5 run: 1-OUT-4-1-3-3-1-1-4-5 Another case of 'topped my chart as an album track before becoming a single in its own right', I was SUCH a loon of Dutch dance act Alice Deejay, led by Judith Pronk - who yes I did once devote a high school project to in Year 7, that despite my lack of funds as a 12 year old, imported the album at a cost of about £20 in early 2000. Will I Ever seemed like an instant highlight for me, far more pop than the two singles that went before it, the lyrics had a tinge of sorrow to them - well until the 'na na na way oh' refrain got in the way. I loved the video too, she looked far better in it than she had done before and my obsession grew even more. It went on to become their third and sadly last UK top ten hit but I still remember it fondly. It probably won't surprise anybody to hear that Alice Deejay will be up again later!
June 11, 201114 yr I like Teenage Life... Brilliant countdown so far...not sure any would place in my Top 100 though. :P Disturbia seems to have got a bit lost in the crowd with all these massive Rihanna songs I found, I think it's a brilliant track though. :D
