Depending if you like it or not, a little buit of sweet chilli sauce adds flavour to it aswell, if you like when the joing is about hafl way roasted, remove the foil and add some and let it cook out, then you will have flavour, and it will be worth going out early to get that can of coke!!

Pete - I didn't this time as I had to get to boil it for a while first and then get it in the oven early as mum was coming over for lunch - didn't have any coke in and by the time I'd faffed around it would have been too late. It was gorgeous anyway though - I didn't realise brisket would taste that nice. I do now however - have a supply of coke in the fridge so the next time I do that cut (in a week or so) I'm going to try your suggestion.

Glad it was nice in the end, i think when times were good we all made mistakes of thkining cheaper cuts, or cheaper products werent good enough for us, but now that the economy has changed we are more open to trying the cheaper things. And you know what sometimes they are far nicer and when u get something at a good price there is a little element in us that makes us even happier. Im sure like myself the economny as it stands is having an affect on your budget and we have all had to make changes.

Birthday parties can be costly,we are lucky this year, we asked my daughter who will be 10 next month what she watned to do for her birthday and she asked could she have 6 of her friends around for a sleep over,they wana watch a dvd and have some food in the house,we are all for that as it isnt to costly,usually she likes to do something that costs money. Its almost like she knows the economy is screwed without us even telling her!!
