Posted July 3, 201114 yr German chart comments - Issue date - 1.07.2011 Fuelled by a TV appearance in Germany, Jennifer Lopez' former number one single "On The Floor" returns this week to the summit after giving up the top in May. Thus the Pitbull collaboration spends a sixth cumulative week as a number one single in Germany. Video The most successful new hit of the week is also TV-related and comes from Pietro Lombardi and Sarah Engels, respectively the winner and the runner-up of the latest edition of Deutschland sucht den Superstar. Pietro gave up the number one position only three weeks ago, after his debut single "Call My Name" entered directly at #1 and stayed there for four weeks. Sarah Engels debut single of the same name peaked at #2. Curiously enough, "Sweat", the duet between last year's winner Mehrzad Marashi (whose career seems to have ended rather quickly) and Mark Medlock, also reached #2 in the summer of 2010. "I Miss You" now comes after the hot reports that Pietro and Sarah are dating. It's marvellous how broad publicity can bring boring songs like this to the heights of the charts. Video At #3 Alexandra Stan retreats a position with "Mr. Saxobeat" but as J.Lo. will definitely collapse next week and Pietro & Sarah's love affair is destined to fade away in a glimpse, the chances that Alexandra may actually hit the top spot are not to be underestimated. Video A welcome peak for the revival of German music at #9 as Tim Bendzko brings his, may I say great, debut single "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" in the top 10 for the first time since its entry two weeks ago. Video Not much going on in the rest of the top 30 apart from the #26 peak of DJ Antoine's "Welcome To St. Tropez". Video The second highest new entry of the week comes from reggaeton musician and occasional actor Don Omar."Danza Kuduro" is the first single of Don Omar to enter the top 100 and despite starting slowly at #38 perhaps the hot summer days will shoot the catchy song, which features in the soundtrack of megahit Fast Five, in the top 20 soon. Video Only two new entries in the remainder of the top 100. At #50 dance project Tom Hangs feat. Shermanology comes in with "Blessed" and at #67 Annemarie Eilfeld changes her name for a third time, which however doesn't help "Seele unter Eis" do wonders in the countdown. As Annemie the singer had a top 30 single with "Animal Instinct" in 2010. Video - Tom Hangs Video - Annemarie The Album Chart Changes also on top the album chart, with Swedish metal band In Flames bringing its 11th album Sounds Of A Playground Fading directly to the summit. Thus three-week winner Pietro Lombardi slips to #2, while Adele completes the top three. Tim Bendzko brings his first CD called "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" new at #4, while he-is-so-hot-right-now-it's-unbelievable Pitbull enters at #6 with Planet Pit - his first album to enter the German top 10. July 3, 201114 yr I was thinking that earlier, although I looked it up myself. Blue are still charting, only just dropped out of the top 50 :o
July 3, 201114 yr Germany really need to start letting all songs chart with just download sales rather than only charting with permission from the record company. Ah right, I was wondering why 'On The Floor' had shot back to #1 in Germany. That TV performance must've been good to have such impact.
