Right, we've passed the half way stage of 2011 - what have you been listening to that was released this year?

For me I've completely ignored what 2011 has to offer - I've been wandering aimlessly though the the 00s trying to find stuff that I've missed out it.

Point me in the right direction folks? :)

I've been listening to a lot of older music this year too...delving into the back-catalogues of Arthur Russell, Björk, Johnny Cash, The Knife etc.

I've still listened to quite a lot of new music though, my favourite songs of the year so far would include:

Bon Iver 'Holocene'; 'Calgary'

The Weeknd 'High for This'

Lykke Li 'Jerome'; 'I Know Places'; 'I Follow Rivers'

James Blake 'Lindisfarne'

TV on the Radio 'Will Do'

Metronomy 'The Bay'

Cut Copy 'Blink and You'll Miss a Revolution'

Wild Beasts 'Bed of Nails'

Frank Ocean 'Swim Good'

I guess The Weeknd and Frank Ocean are more R&B than indie or alternative, but they seem to be more appreciated by the indie crowd in general.

Mainstream music this year has been dreadful. Most years I like so much current music I don't really look back into older artists etc. This year, despite some brilliant releases (my favourites being some of the ones albove), music in general has been so poor - I've liked looking back and getting properly into older artists though!
