First one so I thought I'd start a new thread.

I’ve had an exclusive first listen to Will Young’s new single and it’s a goodie! After a break Mr Pop Idol is now back with Jealousy, released on August 21. It’s a massive slice of euphoric dance-pop – think the male version of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. Welcome back!

oooh that's pretty exciting, Teenage Dream was a delcious pop song IMO and the soundtrack to the last summer. It also means if it's in that kind of vein of summery uptempo pop there is no reason it shouldn't be widely playlisted but we shall see. So ridiculously excited to hear this song!!! :yahoo:

Suppose it's whether their criteria is playlisting the song or the artist. As you say we'll see.

The Return of Sir William of Young: Kicking it big willie style.

There are several things I will constantly love without question - the music of Abba; Wicked the book by Gregory Maguire; every single episode of Buffy (even the crap ones); and of course a select bunch of current music acts that never fail to delight me. Pop Idol winner (though it seems so futile to quote that now - he's far surpassed all expectations of a 9 year old win) William of Young is one of those acts. Some of my favourite songs of the past 10 years happen to belong to Will (Your Game; Switch It On; Love The One You're With; Let It Go) and I've been waiting impatiently for him to return with something that was instantly sparkling, classy and glorious. I have not been disappointed...

Jealousy is the first single from William's fifth studio album, Echoes (out in August - check Popjustice for an exciting preview of the work) that premiered on radio 2 today. In what is turning out to be a stellar year for accomplished, quality, considered bloke-pop (see also Darren Hayes; Bright Light Bright Light), Will (and producer Richard X) have raised the bar with this genuinely beautiful tune. It's definitely an early morning chill out club track without having to resort to all the whistles and bells of samples/guest rappers, etc. William's vocal shines (as you would expect) from start to finish over a gorgeous percolating beat that completely complements the vocal allowing the track to soar. There are some lovely vocal touches throughout - for example, it's hard not to feel a bit swoony when he literally purrs that he is down on his knees. On Popjustice they say it's the perfect comedown album and this single is sterling evidence of that. It's essentially a whole new William but being introduced to us in a way that means this is not jarring or a shock for long term fans; indeed it's a lovely transition single. It's William's The Flood (Take That). All hail Sir William. Long may he reign...

Will Young – Jealousy

Posted: July 11, 2011 |

Will is a nice boy. He’ll always be thought of as ‘one for the mums’ with his brand of middle of the road pop which, over the last decade, has had quite a few brilliant moments

Moving away from your typical mid-tempo piano ballad with his recent Fred Falke remixes and AMAZING Groove Armada collaboration, his new single and album have been produced by Richard X. He is a genius. Providing sparkly disco moments for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Rachel Stevens, Annie and Roisin Murphy to name a few.

Jealousy is just great. Elegant and sad it’s brilliant heartbreaking pop.

Will Young premièred his new single ‘Jealousy’ on radio today, and out of nowhere it’s gone and made itself known as one of the best tracks of his 9-year career.

It’s the first cut from his fifth studio album ‘Echoes’, due August 22nd, and it’s produced by Richard X.

Young has enjoyed consistent album sales success since his ‘American Idol’ win, and even his last studio set – 2008′s ‘Let It Go’ – went platinum despite being his lowest-selling effort to date.

In terms of singles though, Will has had only two Top 10 singles in the last five years. Can ‘Jealousy’ turn it around? Honestly, we don’t think so, but that’s purely based on its lack of radio-friendly oomph, which in fairness is also its biggest strength.

It’s a funny ol’ industry, eh.

After finishing a 5 album deal with Sony and approaching his tenth year in the music business (OMG was Pop Idol THAT long ago?!), Will Young is about to release his best and most surprising album to date.

The first single, Jealousy, recieved its first play today and it is awesome. Its heartfelt, emotional yet without needing to be a slushy ballad. Working with Richard X for this song and the whole album, Will’s new era is clearly going to be full of very special things.

PS: For more “Dance” Will Young listen to History off of Groove Armada’s last album. Its eighties synth deliciousness.

Will Young Returns With The Strongest Single Of His Career

[Will Young has premiered his amazing new single, ‘Jealousy’. The song is the first to be lifted from his forthcoming Richard X produced fifth studio album, Echoes, out August 22nd.’Jealousy’ is not only the strongest single of Young’s already impressive career, but the mesmerizing electro piano ballad is one of the best singles to emerge this year.

Richard X, who has worked with Pet Shop Boys, Annie, Kelis, Liberty X, Rachel Stevens and Sugababes, produced every track on Echoes. Young’s last record, 2008′s Let It Go, peaked at number two in the UK album charts and was certified platinum. Check out ‘Jealousy’ below.

The Will Young comeback single is already a contender for best pop single of the year - listen to the premiere now

Alright, where are the balls then...

Will Young has seen the music industry from just about every angle in his ten years on the scene.  He won the first Pop Idol over in the UK, long before American Idol even existed, and arguably was the first poster child of the reality-show driven music world we currently live in.  That fact makes him either a villain or a hero, or an unsuspecting pawn in a game no one could have expected to go on so long, but really that's neither here nor there because IT HAS HAPPENED and we just have to deal with the fact that millions of people tried to make Ruben Studdard a star.

Anyhoodle, Will was instantly huge, only to be famously overshadowed by the runner up of the show, Gareth Gates, after a few months.  But while taking a back seat to Mr. Gates and his ridiculous dimples for a couple singles, William was busy penning what would go on to be one of the defining British albums of the noughties. He cranked out singles like 'Leave Right Now' and 'Your Game,' winning accolades and - surprisingly - artistic credibility along the way. Suddenly WiYo was back on top and a bona fide superstar.

Over the next few years Will came out as a gay man (to the shock of everyone no one), and chucked out some of the finest tunes to have graced the radio waves.  Then all of a sudden he wasn't really popular anymore because his songs weren't that catchy, and then he did a video about getting pregnant and everything got kind of awkward.  Which is where we are now.

Suffice it to say, Will's been up and down and has SEEN SOME THINGS in his time in "the business," but all that experience looks to have paid off as he gears up for his big, spectacular comeback.

It kicks off with brand new single 'Jealousy,' which at first listen is a huge departure from Young's earlier adult contemporary-ish output, but is actually just an electro'd up version of the melodic pop he's always done.  It's simple yet perfectly executed, understated yet moving, and most importantly, is VERY VERY GOOD.

The single got its first play on Monday and is already being hailed by "the blogs" and also people who read "the blogs" so you know it's the real deal.  But if you have any doubt, why don't you all just take a listen for yourself:

We told you.

3AM

Oh, how we miss the days when Will Young was really famous. It was a simpler time, when the only two dilemmas in our life were "Will or Gareth?" and "Smirnoff Ice or Bacardi Breezer?", rather than "Which Sunday newspaper can we buy without being arrested?".

Well, Will's back. And he hasn't changed much - his new single, Jealousy, has a dancier beat than some of his old stuff, but his voice is still all sweet and raspy and we want to give him a big, platonic (his choice, not ours) cuddle.

The song's pleasant enough but it probably won't set the charts on fire, as it doesn't have the words "swag", "swagger" or "in da club" in it, and sadly that's what you need for a hit in the depressing musical landscape that is the year 2011.

Will Young Premieres Completely Amazing Richard-X Produced Single, “Jealousy” (Single Review

http://www.muumuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/imageArticle-willyoung.jpg

Will Young – “Jealousy” (BBC1 Radio Premiere)

And now for something completely amazing.

“Jealousy” is the lead single from Will Young‘s fifth studio album Echoes, which is due to be released in late August–nearly a decade after his win on the UK’s Pop Idol.

Produced by one of Brit-Pop’s very best, Richard X (Rachel Stevens, Sugababes, Annie), “Jealousy” is a haunting torch song of sorts, befit with a dreamy, inoffensive electronic throb–or, as The Guardian so astutely put it, “polite dance music.”

Like all other perfect pop songs, “Jealousy” has all the makings of a proper “sad disco” stomper: Chilly vocals, unrequited love and a pulsating, shimmering beat. Young’s haunting, echoed vocals evoke a certain kind of ’90′s affect–something like a cross between Annie Lennox and Billie Myers–set atop warm, dreamy synthesizers that would have M83 beaming.

“I’m tired of waiting / I’m tired of thinking / And it feels like jealousy,” Young cries out.

And while it does indeed feel like jealousy, it also feels like an instant classic.

Another! Thanks to JUlie (Will4Me)

They're coming thick and fast now..Gill it's been One day!!!! :w00t:

Will Young, oh I forgot how good you are.

We haven’t heard much from the pop/soul singer since his baby popping Hopes and Fears video and Groove Armada collaboration, but now the Think I Better Leave Right Now sensation is getting ready to release his fifth studio album Echoes on August 22nd(the 10th anniversary of his first Pop Idol audition.)

To kick things off, the first single from the set Jealousy premiered on BBC Radio 2 today and like all Young’s material it is gorgeous.

It begins with Will’s soft, delicate voice showcased over a timid piano solo carrying lightweight beats . Then, at about the 30 second mark it is all goes very soft dance as the chorus begins to make way for spacey electronica and a synthesised melody as he sings “And it feels like jealousy/And it feels like I can’t breathe/And I’m on, down on my knees/And it feels like jealousy.”

The production is perfected so that it is not too overpowering and his vocals shine through. This is not like any ordinary dance ballad though. It is elegant, confident and warm. Everything a comedown track should be.

As ever his music always holds up.

Pop Music Magic Rating:

4/5

Enjoy!

Will Young releases his new single “Jealousy” and it’s pretty much everything I could have hoped for!

I first fell in love with Young when Fred Falke got his hands on “Tell Me The Worst”, then last year he was featured on “History” by Groove Armada which only ensured he was going in my top 10 male vocalists list. Now he steps out with the glorious shimmering electronic record “Jealousy” which leaves me no choice but to love this man for the rest of my life.

Listen to “Jealousy” below, you just can’t deny his voice! Enjoy.

Another great Italian Review, excuse the dodgy translation-think it's just their hope re European release at this point:

Jealousy Will Young: the new single

Posted by clear on July 13, 2011 in Music News, New record

Echoes will be titled the new album from Will Young, to be released on August 22 and anticipated new single from the artist that ten years ago reached its success through participation in the talent show Pop Idol that led him quickly into the limelight.

So to mark the tenth anniversary of the birth of his successful career, Will Young has debuted online yesterday with the song Jealousy, worthy of Echoes in advance that will contain a tracklist of 13 original songs written by the same Young in collaboration with Andy Cato, Jim Eliot and Pascal Gabriel.

The production of the disc appears the signature of Richard X and the next August 22 in the album will be sold throughout the United Kingdom and then spread to the rest of Europe and maybe the world.

Regarding Jealousy can say that Will Young could not have picked a better song in a big way to anticipate her new album. The single fact has all it takes to attract the attention of the audience and music to accompany our summer sound.

On the disk instead we can not anticipate anything, except that the second Popjustice those new songs are "almost indescribably brilliant, crazy, irresistible."

A comment that you do not hear often when it comes to pop music genre or pseudo-commercial use. So we are curious to see what has reserved for his fans the British artist, but in the meantime do not forget to check out the new single, Jealousy, and let us know what you think.

Wednesday, 13 July 2011New Single Alert - Will Young - Jealousy

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-InX-1XLekDw/Th2NyA7HdbI/AAAAAAAAAqI/wK9qLptGkSY/s320/will-young-jealousy.jpg

We must admit we have always had a crush on this Pop Idol. One of our fav albums by Will Young was Friday’s Child, if you have never heard it buy it NOW!

Well the Brit pop boy is back with his fifth studio album Echoes produced by the fabulous Richard X and filled with Will’s soulful voice and chilled dance beats. First single to be released is Jealousy, playing to his fantastic vocals and similar tone to that of the Groove Armada track back in 2010 – History.

We are loving the track already. Love you Will!
