Will Young 'Jealousy'

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_SAhSeyjeWE/Th1GTV0i9GI/AAAAAAAABhc/6oqbS741jJo/s1600/willyoung.jpg

More than 10 years on from his Pop Idol victory Will Young is still going strong.

In recent years he's shown a bit of a soft spot for a more dance based sound - appearing on Groove Armada's most recent album and performing a Fred Falke remix of 'Tell Me The Worst' during his live sets.

Will's forthcoming album Echoes has been produced by the legend that is Richard X. The first single from it is called 'Jealousy' - The Guardian describe it as "a stately, radio-friendly slice of polite dance music with a fantastic vocal" - I couldn't put it better myself:

Echoes is released on 22nd August with the single Jealousy out to download the day before.

The production of the disc appears the signature of Richard X and the next August 22 in the album will be sold throughout the United Kingdom and then spread to the rest of Europe and maybe the world.

Wonder if this will happen. Jealousy is just the right sound for Europe. Perhaps Will has been waiting to produce a sound he's entirely happy with befoore releasing overseas.

A Song For Europe

Discovering the best in European pop music & culture.

New Music: ‘Jealousy’ by Will Young.

The original Idol Will Young marks his triumphant return with the release of his new single Jealousy from his upcoming fifth album titled ‘Echoes’. Check it out below:

The song has been produced by British hit-maker Richard X and is a gorgeous synth-laden electropop tune that manages to be both uplifting and melancholy at the same time. It is, in my opinion, one of Will’s best recordings and has already been receiving considerable airplay. Jealousy is set to be released on August 21st 2011 with the album following suit the day after.

Another :D

With the mature adult-contemporary pop of Will Young’s fourth album Let It Go being largely ignored by Radio 1, it came as quite a shock when his soulful falsetto vocals were found sliding over the electro-cool of Groove Armada’s ‘History’, the closing track to last year’s Black Light. The arrival of new single ‘Jealousy’, taken from his upcoming fifth album Echoes, confirms that this excursion into dance wasn’t a one-off. A gorgeous electro-ballad with an irresistible chorus melody, ‘Jealousy’ is reminiscent of Sophie Ellis Bextor’s ‘Synchronised’ which was undoubtedly the highlight of her recent Make A Scene album. Like the rest of Echoes, the track was produced by Richard X. A record produced by the man responsible for some of the best pop songs of the noughties, including Sugababes’ ‘Freak Like Me’, Rachael Stevens’ ‘Some Girls’ and Annie’s ‘Chewing Gum’, makes Echoes a rather exciting prospect.

Will Young will make the best album of the year

'Jealousy' is the first single

http://www.cromosomax.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/willyoung.jpg

Young Will no-nonsense.. The winner of Pop Idol, openly gay, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of his casting in reality with the release of her sixth album, which sounds very promising.

The first single is called 'Jealousy' and is produced by nothing more and nothing less than Richard X, one of the UK pop moguls. Electrodramática a ballad in which the poor Will torture again and again but we love it. The rest of the album, aptly titled 'Echoes', will present productions Groove Armada, Richard Stannard, Gabriel Pascal, Fred Falke and new inspiration for Madonna , Sound of Arrows.

In short, 'Echoes', which goes on sale on August 22, is positioned as one of the candidates for album of the year, and now you can enjoy the first single:

Will Young is Amazingly Good in ‘Jealousy’

Once upon a time Will Young said I think I better leave right now before I fall any deeper. Well William isn’t quite letting it go just yet with the premiere of his latest single Jealousy.

With a pulsating beat, depressing lyrics and haunting vocals, Jealousy has the makings of a classic sad electro-anthem (e.g. Robyn’s Dancing On My Own). Produced by Richard X (Kelis, Sugababes), the awesome single is a tearjerker. The more you play it, the more you want to burst into projectile tears.

If you can’t tell by now, I absolutely adore this. The production reminds me of Chicane a bit. This is definitely Will’s best sound to date, and his best single. I’d love for him to have a hit single again.

Will Young Returns with 'Jealousy'

This week has already seen the return of the infamous X-Factor Queen Leona Lewis, but before the X-Factor there was this little thing called Pop Idol and before Leona Lewis there was this amazing man who started it all...Will Young.

Will has had tremendous success over the past ten years with four albums under his belt and several Brit Awards as well as fairly adequate acting career staring in Marple and the critically acclaimed Sky drama Bedlam.

Now the Your Game singer is back with new track 'Jealousy' and its rather good. If that wasn't enough to get you excited, ITV have just announced they will be showcasing 'A Night with Will Young', a one-off special which will see the British talent shine with all his hits and new tracks from his upcoming release. We can't wait William!

Will has been quoted as being "so excited" for ITV's special event and has promised a "few surprises.” Here's to some amazing guest duets then!

Will tweeted album previews earlier via his twitter account with the album artwork debuting on the You and I singer's Facebook page. His fifth studio effort is entitled 'Echoes' and is scheduled to drop August 22. 'Jealousy' will get its official release just one day before the album on August 21.

Check out Will's comeback single below.

I didn't think I'd be comparing Calvin Harris and Will Young anytime soon but ...

Calvin Harris has a new track that is due for release on August 21st and it's quite different to anything he has done before ... but quite similar too. It's a lot softer and has massive differences than that of The Girls or I'm Not Alone which the 20 year old starlet is probably most known for but has big similarities in it's danciness ... And the video is very obviously influenced or made by the same creator of the Bounce video.

I don't mind the new track, Feel So Close at all, I think it's the chorus that puts me off though. The music with the beat like in Bounce isn't as good as the single featuring Kelis ... it makes it a little stale, the verses however aren't bad at all, Just an anti-climax of some sort. I don't think it has that same Calvin Harris feel to it that made us fall in love with him back in 2007 ... or again in 2009. I'm not quite sure but ... I know it's not bad.

Will Young has a new single too that is also for release on August 21st. It's called Jealousy and after the platinum selling album Let It Go three years ago he has come back like nothing we've seen before from the Pop Idol winner. He has tried his luck at some dance music and actually, his voice very much suits it in my opinion. It's like a ballad, which Will Young is very much known for, but given a relatively strong backing dance beat to give it a little more filler, whilst actually holding back slightly on the vocal ... it's quite an interesting combination actually. It's softer than some dance tracks, which is like Calvin Harris' new song but doesn't finish on quite the same riff or selection of tempo ... It's more full of lyrics as opposed to Feel So Close. Even so, I can see this filling dance floors soon and being a bit of a hit for the All Time Love singer.

Both songs are probably going to do quite well but with so much competition in Dance music at the moment will they fall behind? Or is Gentler Dance that is a bit like beat-filled ballads going to be the new and upcoming thing this year?

Will Young – Jealousy Review

http://www.themusicmagazine.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/will-young-jealousy.jpg

sounds, styles and genres continually boom in and out of fashion, while an endless litter of new artists bounce eagerly onto the scene to nip at the ankles of established acts. Artists who take a year out to write a new album soon feel like they’ve been gone forever *COUGH* La Roux *COUGH*, while Lady Gaga’s almost continuous presence in the charts since her debut in 2009 makes it feel like she’s been knocking around far longer than her relatively short two years.

For an artist to be celebrating ten years in the industry is therefore quite a big deal- the kind of big deal where your Nan puts Corrie on mute for twenty minutes and gets out the fondant fancies and Babysham. When that artist is a TV talent show winner who managed to maintain a career during a decade which saw the industry morph into something almost unrecognisable from its pre millennium incarnation, AND do it with the same record label he first signed to, AND still be achieving platinum album sales, it’s nothing short of amazing.

Yes, prepare to feel old- this month marks exactly ten years since an unknown Will Young first ambled politely into a Pop idol audition and sang ‘Blame It On The Boogie’ in front of an equally unknown Simon Cowell. Young went on to win Pop Idol in February 2002, and while the careers of most of his talent show contemporaries soon went to that Big Karaoke Bar in the sky, Young’s distinctive style and sound soon garnered a loyal fan base who appeared to stick by him as social networking saw the industry fragment into a series of smaller sub genres with smaller sales. During his ten years in the industry he’s managed to sell eight million albums worldwide, and while his last few single sales have been disappointingly low (representing a wider trend in the industry as a whole), his album sales have continued to perform well– each one achieving platinum status.

So what do you do if you’re Will Young and want to celebrate your tenth birthday in the music biz? Down your own weight in WKD and end up sprawled in your own vomit outside a cash point while singing Swagger Jagger to alarmed bystanders?? OF COURSE NOT. This is Will Young, and he’s been very sensibly writing his new album ‘Echoes’, along with producer Richard X and a team of co writers which reads like a modern pop fans wet dream: Sound of Arrows, Groove Armada and Fred Falke to name but a few.

The first single to be released from the album is ‘Jealousy’- a beautiful ‘tears on the dance floor’ electro ballad about unrequited love and the slightly creepy stalker tendencies it can induce. The departure from Young’s usual sound is striking; dance edged and synth heavy, ‘Jealousy’ is Young’s mission statement for the next phase of his career- having the confidence to make music which he genuinely loves while still maintaining a commercial edge. Having written or co-written every song on Echoes it also feels like this could be his most personal album to date, and while a change in direction is always a risk, now feels like the right time for him to take it.

Over on Pop Justice...Jealousy Alias Remix song of the day.

'Jealousy' (The Alias mix)

By Will Young

The original production job on 'Jealousy' - at once powerful and understated, electronic but pulsing with natural beauty - is all very well but there are times in life when all you really want is a 0%-subtle dancefloor raveathon and that is what The Alias have turned in here.

Obviously it still has Will's emotional 'n' lovely vocals, though, so it's still the same song. Which is just a well. As our dear old grandma used to say, "if it hasn't got any of the vocals in, it's not really a remix at all it's just a load of f***ing rubbish someone's knocked off in an afternoon for £1500". She was a wise woman.
