/\ The highest climber of the week is “Otis”, the second single from American rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album “Watch The Throne”, which shoots up seven places to #23. The song samples Otis Redding’s recording of the song “Try A Little Tenderness”. Redding also has a featured credit on the track despite dying in 1967.

/\ The highest new entry of the week is the brilliant house instrumental “Lunar”, a collaboration between French superstar DJ David Guetta and Dutch DJ Afrojack, the second promo single and fourth UK release overall from Guetta’s upcoming fifth studio album “Nothing But The Beat”. /\ Emeli Sandé takes highest climber honours a second time with her first single and recent UK #2 hit “Heaven”, off her upcoming first album which has now been given the title “Our Version Of Events”. The song climbs eight places into to the top 10 at #6.

/\ Northern Irish indie-pop group Two Door Cinema Club have the highest new entry, going in at #10 with “Undercover Martyn” off their first album “Tourist History”. /\ The highest climber is James Morrison’s lovely new single “I Won’t Let You Go”, the first song to be lifted off his upcoming third studio album “The Awakening”. After its entry at #17 last week it zooms fourteen places into the top 3, at #3, though it can’t shake the top 2 which remains the same as last week.

/\ The highest new entry of the week is “Called Out In The Dark”, the new single from Snow Patrol. They have proven capable of creating the worst song ever made for me with their unfortunately highly popular song “Chasing Cars” but they’re really not that bad otherwise. /\ After eight weeks on top of this chart already, Example finally does the Bré-UK double with “Stay Awake”. It spends a ninth straight week victorious here as it enters at #1 on the official UK singles chart (albeit with a very narrow lead over #2).

/\ The song that should rightfully have been #2 behind Example on the UK singles chart instead does that on this far more significant chart. “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” by Ed Sheeran is the week’s highest climber, moving up six places to #2 mostly thanks to his performance at Reading Festival. Foster The People, Two Door Cinema Club and The Vaccines also move up in the top ten (the former two in the top 5) after their performances.

/\ Joe Goddard, of Hot Chip and The 2 Bears fame, scores the highest new entry of the week. His song “Gabriel” features the vocal talents of someone called Valentina and is very good, hence its #12 entry. Other new entries come from Metronomy (another Reading-influenced movement) and Dappy, with re-entries from Sak Noel and Drake.

/\ “Stay Awake” by Example predictably becomes the first song to reach 300 points on my chart, doing it in the shortest amount of time possible by spending all ten of my chart weeks thus far at the top spot. It’s a full 31 points clear of the points second place, Nero’s “Promises” (#10 this week) and a further 13 ahead of Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” (this week’s #9). All three songs have thus far been permanent top 10 fixtures.

/\ Drake sets a new record for biggest climb within my top 30 since the latest rebrand of my chart. His “Headlines”, the first single off second album “Take Care”, moves up an enormous twenty-six places this week to join Example in the top 2 at #2. There’s finally some significant movement in the upper echelons of the chart as positions two to six all join the top 10 for the first time - the #6 “All Fired Up” by The Saturdays having spent seven previous weeks in the chart between #20 and #28.

/\ Drake also has the highest new entry of the week, albeit as a featured artist on “She Will”, Lil Wayne’s fourth single off ninth album “Tha Carter IV”. The song goes straight in at #20. The song is below but a strong language warning is in place! (What do you expect from Lil Wayne and Drake though?) Other new entries come from Nicki Minaj feat. Rihanna, Foo Fighters, The Drums and DEVolution, with a re-entry from Ms. Dynamite.

Indeed, Snow Patrol are perhaps surprisingly the act to finally break Example’s run at #1. Their “Called Out In The Dark” climbs three places to the top spot on its fourth week in the top 30, ending the 10-week stay at #1 for Example’s “Stay Awake”, a record stay probably unlikely to be broken in the near future!

The highest climb of the week is that of James Morrison’s “I Won’t Let You Go” (the second time it’s had this honour) which moves back up four places to #7, also becoming the first song on this incarnation of my chart to drop out of the top 10 and return later. It’s now been released officially in the UK, but will it best its Bré chart peak of #3 in the coming weeks?

/\ The highest new entry of the week is by Coldplay. “Paradise”, their second single from fifth album “Mylo Xyloto”, goes straight in at #2, relegating Example’s monster hit to #3. It’s Coldplay’s second #2 hit here, the question is will it go to #1? “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” spent five straight weeks at #2, could this be a repeat? We shall find out. Other new entries come from Florence + The Machine, Bingo Players and Example.

But this time there is a new face in the top 3 in the form of Delilah, who rises a place to #3 with “Go”.

/\ There’s more climbers than usual this week, with eight songs going up compared to six last week. The highest climbing of the 8 is Canadian house producer/deadmau5 wannabe Wolfgang Gartner’s new single featuring The Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am, the incredibly unoriginally titled “Forever”. Eleven songs with that name have charted in the UK (plus one “4ever”), can Mr. Gartner and Mr. i.am add another to the list when it gets released?

/\ Coldplay finally end their string of ‘almost-#1ness’, moving up a place to the top spot with their new single “Paradise”. The band have been #2 on eight of the previous 13 charts (with two different songs) but this is the first time they’ve made it to the top. Last week’s 3 and 4 - Delilah’s “Go” and James Morrison’s “I Won’t Let You Go” - each also move up a place, the former scoring a new peak and the latter equalling the peak it originally reached six weeks ago. All this means last week’s #1, “Called Out In The Dark” by Snow Patrol, drops to number four. If this chart were to have pop bars though, the top 6 would all be fairly close and far ahead of #7, so they’re just a bit unlucky to have three songs just eclipse them in my estimations this week!

/\ Nero have the highest climber of the week with their 80s-sampling “Crush On You”, the fifth single from their first album “Welcome Reality”. The track climbs four places to number eleven this week. Their previous three singles all made my top 5 (“Me And You” #5, “Guilt” #1 and “Promises” #2 - the latter only dropping out of the top 30 this week), will this one follow suit in the coming weeks?

/\ For the second week in a row the highest new entry is at #10 and by an act who I hated other recent material by. In this case it’s the first and still arguably best American Idol Kelly Clarkson, who enters straight in at #10 with her rather wonderful new single “Mr. Know It All”, the first track to be lifted from her upcoming fifth album “Stronger”. One wonders if any X Factor acts will still be going strong (no pun intended) at album 5. Perhaps JLS will. Other new entries come from Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris, Timbaland feat. Pitbull, Don Omar and Lucenzo, Matt Cardle, Big Sean feat. Kanye West and Roscoe Dash, Janet Devlin (loon alert) and Yeo Valley pts. The Churned.

/\ After a week breaking their #1 duck last week, Coldplay are back down one to their favourite position of #2 with “Paradise”, unable to withstand the enormous upwards force of Labrinth’s fantastic new single “Earthquake” featuring Tinie Tempah which moves up five places to claim #1. Tinie thus becomes the first artist ever to reach four #1s on my chart, with previous hits “Written In The Stars” (feat. Eric Turner), “Miami 2 Ibiza” (Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah) and “Hitz” (Chase & Status feat. Tinie Tempah) having also led my chart in its various previous incarnations. Delilah drops a place to complete the top 3 with her “Go”.

/\ The biggest climber of the week is “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine (yes, Adam Levine from Maroon 5, a.k.a. that band I hate a lot), the first single from the Heroes’ upcoming fifth album “The Papercut Chronicles II”. Despite my bias against the rage fuel that is Mr. Levine’s drowning cat vocals, an incredibly strong performance from Travie and the crew has nonetheless finally managed to click with me and it flies up a massive 23 places from the very bottom of the top 30 (well, #27) to this week’s #4. Special mention to the track directly below it, “Danza Kuduro” by Don Omar and Lucenzo, which makes a similarly large leap of 16 places from 21 to 5.

/\ This week’s highest new entry comes from Dutch DJ Laidback Luke vs. Example (the latter is of course no stranger to this chart), with “Natural Disaster”, a song being promoted as Example’s third single off second album “Playing In The Shadows”. It may come as a surprise I haven’t already charted it but it took a while to grow on me. But it’s certainly done just that and belatedly makes a strong #7 debut. Other new entries come from Alexandra Stan, Cher Lloyd feat. Mike Posner, Beyoncé, Olly Murs, Ed Sheeran and The Collective.

/\ Coldplay become the first act to have a song return to the #1 spot on this incarnation of the Bré chart, with their “Paradise” climbing a place to claim a second non-consecutive week. It’s helped massively by the release of the hilarious elephant-themed video. With Coldplay’s new album “Mylo Xyloto” now out expect a lot of new entries from them next week. Labrinth’s “Earthquake” (feat. Tinie Tempah) drops back a place to #2 and Laidback Luke vs. Example complete the top three by climbing four places to a new peak of #3 with “Natural Disaster”.

/\ Ed Sheeran has the biggest climber of the week with “Lego House”, the third single off debut album “+”, which shoots up fourteen places to this week’s #10. It provides Sheeran with a third straight top 10 hit. The video stars Ron… I mean Rupert Grint. I wonder why Ed picked him to be in the video, it’s not like the two have anything in common at all! Oh.

/\ There are only three new entries this week. The highest comes from James Morrison with a bit of help from Jessie J. His “Up” is the second single from third album “The Awakening” and the follow-up to the big Bré hit “I Won’t Let You Go”. It starts its chart journey with a strong #16 debut. /\ Coldplay extend their reign atop the Bré Thirté to three non-consecutive weeks with “Paradise”. Labrinth’s “Earthquake” (feat. Tinie Tempah) and Laidback Luke vs. Example’s “Natural Disaster” also stay seated at #2 and #3 respectively. There’s a bit more movement lower down the chart.

/\ Rizzle Kicks’ second single “When I Was A Youngster” off debut album “Stereo Typical” is the week’s highest climber, moving up six places to #20. It’s the Kicks’ first appearance on the Bré Thirté as the lead artist, as their debut single “Down With The Trumpets” failed to impress, however they did go as high as #15 guesting on Olly Murs’ “Heart Skips A Beat”.
