Take That's plane struck by lighning

Take That were saved by a quick-thinking pilot after their plane was struck by lightning.

The British group - which is comprised of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Robbie Williams, Jason Orange and Howard Donald - were flying to Milan for the first non-UK date of their 'Progress Live' tour last night when the bolt hit the aircraft.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The plane took off fairly normally, though we knew there was bad weather ahead, but mid-way during the flight the turbulence was really quite frightening. Then suddenly, there was a bright flash, and the plane had obviously been struck by lightning. The pilot had to make an announcement and reassure the passengers that everything was all right."

While the incident most likely wouldn't have affected Howard who recently bought his own sea plane, bandmate Gary is likely to have been left shaken by the near miss after recently confessing he is terrified of flying. Asked what super power he would love to have, Gary said: "Flying for me, because it means I wouldn't have to go on a plane again. I don't like planes, not a fan."

Ya,i seen this on digital spy, i love dthe part where gary also said

"Take That frontman Gary Barlow once spoke of his fears of dying in a plane crash, joking that he would be overlooked while flying with David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay.

He said: "I could just see how that would be written, 'Football star and top chef in plane crash'. Then in the last paragraph, 'Pop singer Gary Barlow was also on the plane'."

lol yeah, just shows how far gary has come now in terms of confidence and self belief since they reformed.

im just thankful they are all ok

True, thats the main thing that no one got hurt, ya gary has definitly come a long way since they reformed considering about 13 years ago or thereabouts the press had him slaughtered daily, his career was almost over and he was in the depths of depression and about 6 stone heavier, at that time who would ever thought whats happening now with take that would have ever happened.

The way they have comeback is truly amazing and so so unexpected, you know when i heard the ultimate collection was been released i remember thinking it it will probably chart top 30 and fade quickly, and i remember in the first set week of midweeks it was #7 and i was shocked and it climbed all week and ended up making a number 2 debut and i was delighted. The rest is history. I have to say though i truly never expected that they would manage to add around 10 million album sales to their UK sales tally and i suspect they have a few million to add to that UK total yet.

Lightning hits planes a lot - there was never any danger. A bit daft of a paper like The Independent to make a big thing of it really.
They put it in as they knew it would help sell the paper.

I think the phone hacking story has been selling a lot of papers lately - no need for silly celebrity tittle-tattle.

Big names like take that sell papers whether its liked or not.

Not The Independent! Even I don't buy papers just because they've got something on TT (or any celebrity) - not when I can read them online. I expect they were just filling a little space that was going begging.

Probbaly your right, i sued to buy a paper every day, but it was my new years resolution to stop and i did, admittedly i hvae bought the odd one, but i would say i have bought 10 papers at the most since the begginning of the year. I worked out i was spending €600 a year on newspapers which was crazy when i get it all online for free.
