August 16, 201113 yr Songs being held back a long time affects their longevity more than their peak - in fact, it probably helps their peak (although there's no way to prove this one way or the other). I think it certainly helps their peak, except in extreme situations that they're held back so long that everybody gets bored of the song, bit I don't think that applies to anything in this situation. I agree that The Saturdays song is incredibly generic. And also Pixie's is. I haven't heard the Sugababes yet, so I can't comment on that. My favourite of the four though, despite being generic, is probably The Saturdays.
August 16, 201113 yr Maybe it's just my Saturdays' looning, blinding me from thinking anything bad is in store for AFU? I'm unsure as to actual predictions, the top 2 will definitely be Example/Ed Sheeran, and the top 5 rounded off by Pixie, The Sats and Leona, in any order really. Sugababes' new one is pretty generic too, it's quite good though.
August 16, 201113 yr I find it interesting that people slate a track because its 'generic'. Funnily enough alot of people like generic. And i dont think consumers will hold that agaisnt them.
August 16, 201113 yr ^ True, most songs are generic these days! All Fired Up is but that doesn't stop it being my favourite song atm.
August 16, 201113 yr The Saturdays sold 30K in one week with an OA/OS release, I definately think they can double that with this traditional release.
August 17, 201113 yr Hmm. I think it'll be between Pixie & Leona for sure. I've seen the video/heard the song on radio of Pixie's more than Leonas myself but with X Factor back this week and a music video for Collide to release I think it will be extremely close. So I say Pixie will win for the moment. Saying that I personally prefer Pixie myself to be number 1  Edited August 17, 201113 yr by Rob Summers
August 17, 201113 yr I think the Saturdays are going to pull a shock and take it. Collide and All about tonight just don't seem to be connecting. I'm not a Sats fan but I honestly think it's a better record...its catchier and hookier than the other gorls' releases and the videos great. I don't think Collide's melody is strong enough for a Leona comeback single. It gets old very quickly. She deserves better. The cover shot is horrible too...it's not a POPSTAR picture...it looks more like something from a Catalogue. Syco are clueless...this is a label that let Simon choose (he knows NOTHING about music, he is a businessman that is all) the dull, dull, dull Happy as a lead single last time and turned down recording the incredible Impossible which was wasted on a B Lister like Shontelle, didn't release outta my head, still released Echo in the US even without a hit single (they should have put it back)....I could go on. August 17, 201113 yr For me, All Fired Up is a mess. I'm rooting for Collide to take it. Freedom is a bit dull for me. I love All About Tonight most though. It'd go something like this for me: 1: All About Tonight 2: Collide 3: All Fired Up 4: Freedom
August 17, 201113 yr Even though it's painfully generic, I kind of want The Saturdays to come out on top. Pixie's single is awful to my ears, her management seems to throw her at any fad and hope she scores big. Case in point: "Mama Do" had retro stylings and was released after the whole retro sound had become popular, whereas "Up" was released eight months earlier and actually sounded fresh and contemporary because it was electropop before electropop was bankable again. August 17, 201113 yr Pixie's new hair makes her look like a 37 year stay at home mum! So frumpy! She looks older than Heidi Range and thats really saying something!
August 17, 201113 yr Am I the only one thinking Ed Sheeran will not get top 2 with his new single? I think he has obviously gained new fans from A-Team but this song is nowhere near as good.

August 17, 201113 yr I think Ed's new song is MUCH better than The A-Team and considering the fanbase he has developed I can see him having huge sales in the first few weeks. I actually think he has a far better chance than Example in his week of release and it wouldn't surprise me if he kept the top spot from Pixie/Leona/Saturdays.

That would be brilliant if Ed got to No 1 fro 2 wks his song is by far the best but I think Pixie will promote like mad that week.I wonder if Kelly Clarkson will pose a threat her song is sure to be strong.

I like Pixie, but I kind of agree with this... She's still very beautiful though, but longer hair would be even better! Am I the only one thinking Ed Sheeran will not get top 2 with his new single? August 17, 201113 yr OA/OS will probably harm Kelly's chances sadly :( I'd LOVE her to get number 1 but she won't. Probably a shock top 10 though. Two acts I loon over (Kelly and The Sats) releasing the same week :drama:
August 17, 201113 yr The A Team is excellent, but You Need Me is even better. That for 2 weeks #1 would be brilliant, although I'm not sure it'll get to #1. Out of the 4, I think I now prefer All Fired Up, and then the other three are good, but kind of the same in rankings. I like all 4, so if any of them managed to reach the top spot, that'd be good. I'm not going to call which is most likely to hit #1 though.
