Posted July 19, 201114 yr 6Music have been playing this a lot recently and I really adore the song. After doing a quick search it seems that Bret-Butler has been trying to tell us about them for a while. After all, they are from Belfast. He entered another of their songs in a UP. I gave it lots of points but most other people didn't :( I had hoped to see them at the Wireless Festival a couple weeks ago but the bus was late so I missed them. I6L2D4RLn_8
July 20, 201113 yr Yeah, I've been following this band for some time now, since 2008 I believe. They released two singles before they signed to Bella Union which unfortunately didn't make it to the album, 42 West Avenue (which I submitted to UP) and When Jackie Shone (which ended up in my most recent BJCDSWAP). They seem to have gone from a Gomez-y band on the singles to the Irish answer to the Fleet Foxes between then and the album, which isn't to say the album isn't fantastic, because it is. I've only seen them live once before, when they were supporting Air at the Waterfront Hall, although I might get the chance to see them live at the weekend.
July 21, 201113 yr My mate is a huge fan of theirs. I thought he was calling them Cashew No 9 for a long time.
July 21, 201113 yr Author My mate is a huge fan of theirs. I thought he was calling them Cashew No 9 for a long time. That would be nuts
July 21, 201113 yr They've played quite a few festivals this year, but I managed to miss them at both Wireless and Oxegen. Will keep an ear out for them though.
July 29, 201113 yr Author I finally got around to hearing the album today. I now have a free three month premium Spotify subscription thanks to hose nice people at the Guardian so I've been putting it to good use :D As well as the wonderful Lost At Sea, Goldstar was the other stand-out track for me. I totally agree that they sound very much like Fleet Foxes on some tracks
August 15, 201113 yr The video for "Lost at Sea" was released today, featuring stop-motion animation, the lovely Cave Hill, and a salmon playing the harmonica. yVeEeCo5Lw8
August 15, 201113 yr I went to see them a few weeks ago. The songs were good but I didn't really get it. One sounded really like Happy Mondays or Primal Scream.
October 24, 201113 yr The band have released the video for Oh Pity, which I think is the best track on the album. UHQmVGFMMgE Edited October 24, 201113 yr by Brett-Butler
