Random.org is the well known BJSC sponsor, for its sins :P I did notice that they looked a bit unbalanced quality wise and thought about shuffling some countries around but it's against the nature of being random and fair so I decided not to, even if there are some countries/songs that are in Semi 1 who I'd have liked to have been in my semi! I hope they can qualify without my support!

New Caprica: RAC - If You Forget Me (ft. Liset Alea)

JRK-Off: SingerSen – Drunk

It was tough to decide on some songs, but this is what I eventually went with, and without listening to Semi Final 2 yet, I predict Promises/Batidas will win.

It's a shame judging from the predictions/odds that my song is looking to inevitably DNQ, as it's easily my favourite entry to the contest so far, and something I thought would be BJSC-friendly.

Semi 1:

Batidas: Andain – Promises

I predict Promises/Batidas will win.

Wow, you really think so? :o I'd certainly be happy even if I got a fourth consecutive top 10 placing in the final but a second win in 4 contests? :D

Why not? I managed 3 out of 5! It's quite possible if the songs have enough widespread appeal :D

Well maybe I'm letting personal bias of the song cloud my judgement, but I think it's a very powerful/emotive song ala Riverside, and I can easily see it being a dark horse that snatches the win. I certainly would love it to.

You're the host, are you not having what's happened the last two contests where those who would've autoqualified vote in both semis?

I pm'd the mods about it (well, Tom anyway) and they said that it was my choice.

Peter didn't vote in both semis last month I don't think, it was only something that you did and then Hits did after you suggested him to wasn't it? If I was to vote in Semi 1 then I'd have to force Unoshake to vote in Semi 2 to balance things out. Or would it be ok for just me to vote in Semi 1 and nobody else to need to do any additional votes? Problem with this is that Semi 1 would then automatically have a higher qualifying threshold than Semi 2 by way of 58 extra points being available. It seems far easier just for me and Unoshake to vote in our own semis and leave it at that

Exactly. It's totally optional. We didn't say "don't do that", we just gave you the choice. It's what being a mod is all about :kink:

Optional whereby I could vote for Semi 1 but Unoshake wouldn't have to vote in Semi 2? Or is it a case of both or neither?

I wouldn't have an issue adding my votes to Semi 1 but it seems a bit harsh to force Unoshake to vote in both before Friday just because they came 2nd last month, they were never in a position to autoqualify anyway - if it had been odd numbers then only I'd have AQ'd.

Forcing to vote? Well, I can't imagine there'd be any consequences if he didn't but I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle as if it's a punishment! Certainly the last few months it's always been the case that the people who would've AQ'ed had there been even numbers have voted in both semis - and if UnoShake doesn't want to vote in the other semi I'm sure you'll easily be able to find someone in his semi who'd gladly take the opportunity!

Did Peter last month?

I could see the point of the hosts voting in both semis when they were AQ'ing but I'm not sure why it needs to happen when both the winner and runner up from last month are already assigned to separate semis.

Anyway, I've sent a message to Jakeyshake to ask if he'd like to vote in both semis - if he does then I will, if not then I won't - I don't see passing a second vote down to somebody else in his semi is particularly fair  How would I choose who to pick exactly, Jonjo who came 3rd last month? He's in my semi! Likewise Phil who came 4th!

Right - I've had a reply from Unoshake and they're happy to vote in Semi 2 so I guess I'll go and cast my votes for Semi 1 now - an extra 12 coming somebody's way :P

My votes just lifted two songs in Semi 1 off 'nul points'

There's still one song remaining with nothing though :drama: Also only one song in Semi 2 yet to score...

Likewise Phil who came 4th!

I believe it was me who came 4th in a rather confusing evening of results.

Apologies, I'd forgotten that, you're absolutely right!

Hopefully my results show can be error free but I've already made some SHOCKING HOWLERS so far this month so maybe it's a sign of things to come

Oh, the main reason I was for it when I tried to start the tradition of hosts not AQing if they didn't have to to keep semis even was because I hated the idea of running the thing but not being able to vote in both semis - and it seemed like a pretty obvious perk, and a little sweetener for not AQing anymore.

The lesson is when you're feeling tired - go to bed. :D It's bad enough when I'm tired and post something only to re-read it the following day and think "wow! my grammar is shocking".

I feel like that too, but for those participants that are part of the '48 is far too many songs to listen to in a week' brigade, you could appreciate that it would possibly be annoying rather than a good thing. I always listen to both semis in full pretty much straight away anyway as I download both MP3 packs as soon as confirmation opens and put them onto my iPod instantly.

Oh well, I've cast my all important Semi 1 vote now so my favourites have all got a boost, much needed in the case of two songs :(

Well I've learnt my lesson, that colon in place of a dash in the opening post of the confirmation thread was unforgivable!

Screwing up scoreboards and announcing final results for 6 hours can't even compare to that COLONDASHGATE that has occured in this contest.
